Hi there! If your Vitamix shut down while you were blending, it is likely it temporarily overheated. Sometimes the machine may emit a burning odor and/or stop temporarily because its thermal protector sensed that the machine was close to overheating. If this occurs, we recommend turning the power switch off for up to 45 minutes, allowing the machine to cool down or reset. To avoid overheating your machine in the future, be sure to ramp the machine up to the highest speed within five seconds of turning it on to activate the cooling fan in the motor. If you have not done so already, please try to power your Vitamix on today to see if it has regained power. If not, we suggest attempting to power the Vitamix on using an outlet in a different room, as this may sometimes be required to reset it. If you’ve tried the above steps and your machine is still without power, please call us at 1-800-848-2649, so we can further assist.

my last Vitamix I bought about 35 years ago . Sadly I broke it , dropped a spatula into it and just blew up the motor . I used it everyday and LOVED it ...I bought this one as our time on earth will be less than another 35 years so thought a smaller one would be fine . This is LOUD and vibrates around on the counter . Sadly things are not made the way they used to be made .

Hello. Thank you for taking the time to provide us this feedback. It is important to remember that all full-size Vitamix blenders are equipped with either a 2 or 2.2 horsepower motor, which moves the blades in the container at a high speed in order to pulverize the ingredients completely. On occasion during blending, especially with thicker mixtures like hummus, frozen desserts and nut butters, you may experience some excess movement/vibration from the motor base on your countertop. This is a result of the machine trying to move the blades through such a dense recipe at the same high speeds. When this happens, the best thing to do is to first make sure you have your blender on the highest speed setting featured on that unit. Next, place your hand firmly on the lid of your container to steady it while you use your tamper to work the ingredients through the blades. This will help to create an easier flow of the ingredients in the container, which will also help to lessen the vibration. Please keep in mind that certain ingredients and recipes are thick or denser in nature, and some movement while blending is normal. Please also know that this machine does have a bigger motor than ones made 35 years ago and could be a bit louder, however still meets the regulatory requirements for sound levels.

I had a Vitamix from 2009; it was doing ok, but I knew it wouldn’t last much longer, so I bought a new one. I love that it sits under the cabinet now. That’s about the only thing I like about. The design for the lid is atrocious. It’s no longer smooth and easy to clean, but has a 6 walled divider surrounding the middle that you cannot clean with a sponge or rag as it gets caught on this feature. I would really like to know what purpose this 6 walled thing serves?! The spout is now square instead of round so pouring into a narrow vessel is now impossible. When taking the lid off you have to be really careful or it will drip all over the place; my old Vitamix lid did not do this. You had a great design, why on earth did you have to screw it up! Appliances are suppose to make our lives easier, not harder.

Hi! We are sorry to hear your are not enjoying your new container. It sounds like you would like our 48oz container better. It is the same shape as your older one but short like this container. If you purchased directly from our website, we would be happy to exchange it for you. Please give us a call at 1-800-848-2649.

Yes, when looking at other mixers vitamix are $$$ …. However! This model is my 2nd vitamix, for the 1st one lasted 11 years. So after using a mixer that long I know it is built to last AND work.
So sturdy!

I have just received my Vitamix Explorian and made a creamy gazpacho soup from Serious Eats. The unit is so sturdy and I am able to let it blend for minutes at a time with no overheating. Very pleased thus far.
Love it. Small pitcher.

Love it and so far in my opinion it lives up to the hype. The pitcher is small. Smaller than I had anticipated but it is nice for one or two serving smoothies and also nice cream. So it's good but I might need to purchase a larger pitcher in the future. Overall, so far it is a great buy!
Blade chip

Thumbs down graphic, would not recommend

The blender tends to blend well. After two years of use the supposedly steel blade had chip. The plastic container stains easily . I waited on hold with Vitamix customer service for over 20 minutes to be told that they do not cover chip blade under the warranty and that I would have to purchase another container for $154.95 US tax. Unbelievable. I can purchase a subpar blender at that price!

Love this blender because even green smoothies are smooothhh...only thing to dislike is the base doesn't stay on counter in one place and the base and cup don't lock...as much as it is they should definitely fix that. Overall a good blender!

I like the size but it is not near as powerful as my original Vitamix. My original pulverized the greens from our garden used in a smoothie to a tasteful texture. This newer vitamix struggles and never achieves the same result. In fact is grainy with pieces of kale and collards.

Hello! For best results it is important to follow the following: Check Your Speed When starting the machine, make sure the Variable Speed Dial is turned to 1(or, the ‘Stop’ position). Turn the machine on and turn the Variable Speed Dial from 1 to the highest speed your Vitamix has within five seconds. The Vitamix machine performs best on High speed to pulverize food and process thick mixtures. Check Your Quantity When processing denser ingredients, like cooked potatoes, cooked rice, or cooked beans, this creates a heavier than normal load on the machine. You may want to consider reducing the food quantity placed in the container by half (depending on how much food you started with) as well as adding a bit of liquid. Follow Order of Ingredients Place ingredients into the container in the order listed in your Vitamix recipe. If working with your own recipe, start with a base of liquid (water, juice, milk), followed by softer ingredients (tofu, yogurt), then juicier fruits and vegetables (grapes, cucumbers), firmer fruits and vegetables (apples, carrots), frozen ingredients (frozen berries), and finally ice. If you use protein powders, they should follow the ice. Use the Tamper If ingredients are not freely circulating, the tamper can be used to improve the flow of food. While the machine is running and with the lid firmly in place, insert the tamper through the lid plug opening and begin working it in the four corners of the container. As the food travels around the side of the container, the tamper directs it right into the blades. If there is an air pocket around the blade, the tamper will release the air pocket and create a continuous flow of food through the blades. If you are still not getting the results you are looking for, please call us at 1-800-848-2649, so we can further assist.

I bought the first one over ten years ago to use in our spice shop. It is still running and we use in almost every day. Then one for home, one for our son, one for our daughter, family lake house and our second home. Plus we have recommended at least six others to friends. And we are giving one as a Wedding Gift in August 2024.
Would buy again
