Q: How do you freeze the gel pack? Do you put the whole container in the freezer or just the gel pack?

A: Great question! The gel ice pack is the only part that needs to go into the freezer. For optimal results, put the ice pack in the freezer for at least 8 hours, and ideally up to 12 hours.

Q: Does the condensation from the ice pack affect the milk? Worried about watering down the milk and making my newborn sick.

A: The short answer is no! The cooler air gets, the less water vapor it can hold. When the air around an object (like the gel ice pack) gets cool enough, it causes water vapor to condense and turn from gas to liquid, forming water droplets. This is a normal process, so there is no need for any concern if you notice these droplets on your ice pack. They will not dilute your breast milk.

The gel ice pack never comes in contact with your milk, so no need to sterilize, and the gel ice pack is not dishwasher safe. As I was getting ready for an international trip that usually takes 24 hours door to door I was starting to get worried about how I was going to store pumped milk during the trip. After a bit of research I found the Willow breast milk cooler which has a longer cold window than other brands I compared. I also ended up buying the travel bottle cleaing kit. I have now used both on two trips and am thrilled with my purchases. These are my two favorite/most essential baby items that I have. While I hope your breastfeeding journey doesnt require you to need these, if you are pumping, bottle feeding, or traveling I highly recommend buying both the milk cooler and the bottle cleaning kit to make your journey easier.

So many pumping sessions where I tried to fill the freezer bags or bottles and then worried about not getting them into the fridge in time. The ice pack busted after 1 week. I had been using one of these for several months and my ice pack broke. I assumed it was something I did so I bought another one. Less than a week later this ice pack also broke. I had been super careful with this one so not sure what the problem is.

When I return back to work I have to share a small refrigerator space so sharing space for all of my pumping gear will be limited. Having this bottle available to store my milk and not need refrigerator space will be great!
