Wax strips are marketed for a range of areas: facial zones (upper lip, chin), bikini/intimate areas, legs, arms and underarms. Some products are described as suitable for full-body use.

Many wax strips are labeled for all or "normal" skin types. Some formulas are specifically marketed for sensitive skin or are dermatologist-tested, while a few product descriptions note they may not be recommended for very sensitive skin.

Both formats are available: ready-to-use pre-waxed strips, and cloth/muslin epilating strips sold separately for use with soft (strip) waxes.

Many kits include post-wax wipes to remove residue and soothe the skin (examples given in descriptions include calming oil wipes or azulene oil wipes). The number of wipes included varies by kit.

Product descriptions most often state results last up to around 4 weeks (phrased variously as 'up to 28 days' or 'up to 4 weeks').
