Description

This analog coding game teaches digital skills! Building on the success of Learning Resources’ Code & Go Robot Mouse, this fun board game pairs hands-on play with strategies based on fundamental coding concepts. Two to four players take on the roles of rival mice in the hunt for blocks of delicious cheese scattered around the game board. On each turn, players draw coding cards that they string together into sequences of commands to “compute” their way toward those tempting cheesy wedges. To get there, they’ll have to navigate around maze walls that block their paths, and towards warp tunnels that speed up their journeys. The player who collects the most cheese wedges at the end of the game wins, but all players come away with new skills and understanding—in addition to the coding component, each game is built around STEM skills including problem solving and critical thinking. Ages 5+.

    Excellent for beginners in coding

I bought this game for my 5 year old kid. Box is durable and handy for storage. Cardboard game is colorful, mice and cheese are made of good plastic, other parts made of sturdy paper. Only problem is a foam dice with numbers starting to fade very quickly. Game itself is exciting. You code mice, block your opponents, teleport yourself... Excellent for beginners in coding.

This was a very fun game but a little difficult for my 5&6yo

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this Code and Go Mouse Mania board game by Learning Resources complementary from Viewpoints Sampling program to try with my own children and because I am a childcare provider. My children that are of age to be interested in these types of games are two kindergarten boys ages 5&6. My daycare children were still a bit too young to play this. So off I went to play the game with my two youngest sons. At first they were very thrilled with the idea of the game(they love board games) and loved the mice and cheese. We had never seen this game so the newness made it more exciting also. We took everything out and they LOVED the idea of the "warp zones" which thanks to video games, they viewed as teleporters! Once we actually started playing and getting into the game it got a little bit harder. Trying to explain the concept of "coding" to them through the instructions was a bit difficult-which was surprising because they are both very smart and ahead, and video game whizzes. But regardless it made playing the game a bit difficult and they didn't fully grasp the concept. They did still have fun blocking with the walls and chasing the cheese. All in all I would say this is a great concept for a game and could potentially be excellent for a classroom environment for first or second graders, but I do not feel 5yrs or even 6yrs is age appropriate due to the skill level. Im sure we will still pull it out several more times to play with the pieces and try but overall this will be a game we have to hold off on a bit till they can both grasp coding concept a bit more.

    Fun Game for Younger Kids

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the overall concept of this game. The problem is that my kids have been exposed to computers and tablets since a young age and have done coding on them, so this game was not as interesting to them if they had not had this prior experience. I think that younger kids would like this game, but it also may be too difficult for them to understand at times.

    Interesting concept

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids liked the game once they finally figured it out. They design leaves something to be desired and the instructions were a little difficult to understand. The product game board was cheaply made and started to tear when playing.
