Disappointed a year later.
I should have listened to the reviews and not picked this kettle. I love the company, I love the style, and the actual pot has held up well over the last year. However the electronics are quite the opposite. The touch screen has always been VERY hard to operate. The buttons just don’t activate consistently! The power also “goes out” after it runs and it has to be unplugged and plugged back in to get the power button to reilluminate. It’s just wonky. I think this company makes quality tea and coffee products but not electric products. Additionally though, when I pour the water out when it’s full often the water leaks out of the lid.

We’re sorry to hear that you’re disappointed with your BISTRO Electric Gooseneck Water Kettle with Temperature Control. We appreciate your feedback about your user experience. Please note that the touch interface is designed to respond to duration rather than pressure, so the easiest operation comes from holding the buttons firmly until the unit audibly beeps. The kettle also includes a built-in safety feature that prevents it from being operated again immediately after heating; it must cool before being reactivated. Additionally, be sure not to exceed the MAX fill line to avoid water leaking from the top, and keep in mind that the gooseneck design naturally pours more slowly - tipping the kettle too far may cause spillage. If you would like to share your feedback directly with our customer service team, feel free to reach out at support@bodum.com. Thank you for your review!

0 out of 5, DO NOT RECOMMEND
I purchased this June 2024 so have had plenty of time to come to a solid conclusion about this item. The touch controls can be unresponsive like other reviews have noted. Additionally, when mine reaches appropriate the temperature, it continues to boil so the auto-shut off is not reliable either. Look at another brand, this is an overpriced piece of trash.

We’re sorry to hear that you’re not completely satisfied with your BISTRO Electric Gooseneck Water Kettle with Temperature Control. The touch controls respond to duration, and touching and holding the buttons without pressing hard usually yields the best results; if you’re having issues, we recommend thoroughly cleaning the touch panel, as dust or buildup can impede the interface. Regarding auto shut-off, the kettle should beep when the set temperature is reached and the heating element will disengage, though water may continue boiling for a few seconds afterward. We’re curious if the continuous heating you’ve experienced occurs only on the boiling setting or at other temperatures as well. Please feel free to reach out with more details to support@bodum.com so we can better investigate. Thank you for your review!

TouchPad breaks easily
TouchPad breaks after 1 use, there are no tactile buttons so if the TouchPad no longer responds, you cannot use the kettle. The first time I used this it worked great however it only worked once and now the TouchPad no longer responds when I try and turn the device on.

Overpriced kettle that works sometimes
This thing is pretty much useless to me if it’s difficult to turn on. What a waste on such a good looking overpriced product. Will return it for a more cheaper and simpler one that works consistently!

We're sorry to hear you had trouble operating your BISTRO Gooseneck Electric Kettle. To turn it on, touch and hold the power button for 3 seconds. Since the control pad is touch-based, pressing too quickly or too hard may prevent it from registering. Ensure the pad is clean and free of obstructions to maintain proper functionality. Terrible touch pad
Pro variable temps, nice handle, well attached spout. Con terrible touch pad as others have noted.

While we’re glad to hear you appreciate the ergonomic handle and gooseneck spout, we’re sorry to hear about your frustration with the touch controls on your BISTRO Electric Gooseneck Kettle. Since the controls are touch-sensitive, ensure they are clean and free of any obstructions at all times. It is also important to note that the device responds primarily to touch duration, so if the buttons are pressed too quickly, or too hard, the device may not register the input. If your issues persist, please contact our customer service team at support@bodum.com. We thank you for your feedback!

Killed itself in seconds
I took home and put a pot on to boil before I used it for coffee and it immediately started smoking and fried itself within seconds of first use.

The Power Buttom is HORRIBLE!!!
This kettle is so frustrating. It's beautiful, but that stupid power button is a pain. Do not but it!

We’re sorry to hear about your frustrations with the BISTRO Gooseneck Temperature Control Kettle. That darned power button!
I like the kettle. Heats the water fast, no bubbling from the top like a certain manufacturer's kettle, and the gooseneck makes pouring water over the grounds simple as anything. And then there's the on/off button. Sometimes, it will work with no problem at all. Other times, no matter how long I hold down the button it won't turn on. I will be buying a different brand soon.

Start button stops working after 3-4 months.
It’s been great for 4 months and then the start button stopped working. It takes several tries to get the start button to work. Very annoying. My $20 Chefman kettle works better. If they can fix the start button, we’d love this one.

I would return it if i didnt throw away box and receipt
The “touch” on/off button is absolutely horrible… the temperature is not adjustable. Do NOT buy. There are better kettles on Amazon, if you can find the OXO kettle at target I have had that one in the past and it’s good. But DO NOT BUY this

We’re sorry to hear you’re having trouble with your BISTRO Electric Gooseneck Water Kettle with Temperature Control. The touch controls are designed to respond based on duration—so if they’re not reacting, try touching and holding the buttons briefly, as pressing too quickly may not register. Applying pressure will not help and may damage the device. Please also ensure the control panel is clean and free of any residue that could interfere with touch functionality. To adjust the temperature, use the “+” and “–” buttons to cycle through the preset options: 140°F, 158°F, 176°F, 194°F, and 212°F. If you'd like to share more about your experience, feel free to reach out to our customer service team at support@bodum.com. Thank you for your review!

Beware of turning it on
ALMOST PERFECT!! I wanted to keep this kettle so badly, but turning it on with the almost unresponsive touch screen was so annoying. It takes three seconds to turn it on and you have to hold your finger on until it turns on. For some reason it didn’t respond to the size of my wife’s finger and rarely switched on. If it simply had a normal button this could have avoided. Loved the feel and everything about it except the time it took to turn and how each time I went to turn it on I wondered: “Will it turn on?” I ultimately returned it after a few days.

Only one surprising issue...
Once I figured out how to wait for it to respond to my touch to turn on, I loved this kettle. Now my only complaint is that the lid has begun to show rust near the vent holes. Other than that, which really surprised me having only had it for about 6 weeks, and from Bodum no less, I continue to love the precise pouring this spout offers.

If I Had Hair, I would Have Pulled It Out
Every time I want to heat some water, I have to try multiple methods to depress graphic that functions as a button. When I am about to give up, it responds. The pot also has a warming button. However, it suffers from the same issue.

Pours like a dream. Takes a minute to get used to the countrols
The best thing about this kettle is how smooth and controllable the pour is. It is so much better than any average tea kettle or electric water pot. No more worries about burning or metling pots and kettles on the stove for someone prone to distraction, like me. I use this every day for making tea, and pour-over and french press coffee. The temperature settings make it quick and easy for everything from green tea, to Oolong, herbal and black teas. I can get two large mugs from one fill. The maximum fill level is printed inside. Be careful lift the kettle only with the handle, the metal body is as hot as the water. The control takes a minute to get used to since it is a flat touch sensor. Just remember: touch the power button for a few seconds to turn it on and off, and tap the temperature and "keep warm" buttons to change the settings. The lack of actual mechanical buttons makes it very easy to keep clean. Also, you probably wont find this in the kitchen appliances section, it will likely be at the Starbucks in the store. I only found this out because I seached online and saw that there were 2 in stock at my local store but I couldn't find them on the shelf and decided to order it online and pick it up.

Tea drinker
I've had the same experience as other reviewers where the on/off button does not work, and the Keep Warm feature does not keep the water hot. I can usually get the kettle to turn on once a day, but it takes a dozen or so attempts and some hard pressing. Aside from that, I love the design of the kettle itself, it heats up quickly, and it's quiet. Such a shame! I'll return it if I'm still able.
