Q: Does this watch detect AFib?

submitted by 2theMoon - 5 days ago
  • A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Garmin vívoactive 6 Yes, the Garmin vívoactive 6 includes an ECG app that can detect signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib) when used in supported regions and by eligible users. It can record an ECG and check for signs of AFib, but it is not intended to replace a medical diagnosis. Q: Will this watch count steps when pushing stroller and can it track body temp for menstrual predictions?

submitted by Hannah - 1 month ago
  • A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Garmin vivoactive 6 Step tracking may be less accurate when pushing a stroller because your arm is stationary, which can limit the watch’s ability to detect steps. As for body temperature, this model does not track skin or basal body temperature, but it does offer menstrual cycle tracking through the Garmin Connect app for general logging and predictions. If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Q: Does this watch contain the metal Nickel on any part of it? I'm highly allergic to it.

submitted by Juniper - 4 months ago
  • A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Garmin vivoactive 6 Since you have a high sensitivity to nickel, you’ll be happy to hear that the Garmin vívoactive 6 (launched in April 2025) is one of the safer models for your skin type, though there is one specific part to watch out for. Unlike many other smartwatches that use stainless steel (which contains roughly 10% nickel), the vívoactive 6 features an anodized aluminum bezel. Aluminum is generally nickel-free and much safer for people with your allergy. The main body of the watch is made of a fiber-reinforced polymer (a high-grade plastic). This part sits against your skin and is completely non-metallic and inert. The small metal buckle on the silicone strap is typically made of stainless steel. While Garmin uses high-quality 316L stainless steel that meets international "low nickel release" standards, it still contains trace amounts of nickel. If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Q: Does this watch have a curling sport option for a workout?

submitted by Susan - 6 months ago
  • A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Garmin vivoactive 6. The Garmin vívoactive 6 (released in 2025) does not include a native, preloaded "Curling" activity profile out of the box. However, you can still track your curling sessions quite effectively using one of the following methods: 1. Use a Third-Party App (Recommended) The most accurate way to track curling is through the Garmin Connect IQ Store. There is a highly-rated app specifically named "Curling" (developed by pmitchell) that is compatible with the vívoactive 6. What it tracks: It specifically counts brush strokes using the watch's accelerometer. Special features: It includes a stopwatch for sweepers to measure backline-to-hog split times and provides estimates for where the rock will stop. Data: It logs the activity as a "Curling" session in your Garmin Connect history rather than a generic workout. 2. Create a Custom "Curling" Profile If you don't want to download a third-party app, you can create a custom activity on the watch itself: Press the Action button (top right) and select Add+. Choose Other or Winter Sports as a template. Name the activity "Curling." Settings: I recommend turning GPS Off (since curling is indoors) and setting a data field for Heart Rate and Elapsed Time. Note: This will track your heart rate and calories, but it won't count your sweeping strokes like the specialized app will. 3. Use the "Ice Skating" Profile The vívoactive 6 comes with a preloaded Ice Skating profile. While it’s intended for skating, it uses the correct indoor environment settings (GPS off by default) and logic for ice-based movement. You can simply rename the activity to "Curling" in the Garmin Connect app after you finish. If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Q: Can the band be changed out to a metal band?

submitted by KelNel6178 - 8 months ago
  • A: Hi, thank you for reaching out about Garmin vivoactive 6. Yes, the band on the Garmin Vivoactive 6 can be changed out to a metal band, as it uses a standard 20mm wide, quick-release mechanism. Many third-party metal bands are available that are specifically compatible with this model. If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Still learning

I am satisfied so far. There are tons of things I have yet to learn/use on this device. It is inspiring me to "up" my fitness game.

I like the blue morning watchface.

I like it so far. I sure hope the band is more reliable than my vivosmart 5's band, which lost the watch.

Great fitness watch

I love my Garmin! It has so many options for tracking daily habits. The app also has challenges to participate in. I frequently use the workouts, sleep tracking, & more!

Much better than other wearables

I was tired of wearing both an Apple Watch and an Oura Ring. Switching to Garmin simplified everything. I get clean, raw data about my sleep and stress without the narrative fluff. It’s exactly what I was looking for.

Bang for the buck !!

This is watch is truly amazing. Always been a bigger watch guy— have had the Fenix line for some time, Instinct as well. This watch has the most bang for the buck out of all the lines. It’s a bit small for my wrist but the Amoled display makes up for the small face with my aging eyes. This is the way.

Great upgrade

I decided I needed to upgrade from my Vivoactive 4S as it was no longer holding the charge so I went with the newer Vivoactive 6 and am very glad I did. There is so much more on it and easier to use.

Healthier Mindset

While the vivoactive 6 may be a stylish accessory, it is also a super supportive assistant that calls attention to positive health changes that I need to made habitual. Since wearing the watch, my awareness has increased as I track nutritional meals, alcohol consumption, and exercise. Having this information at the forefront each day has made a huge impact on my mindset in a short time and I am incredibly grateful.

Takes some use to get used to

I had the vívoactive 4 before I purchased this one as the 4 was discontinued. The jump changed the settings. Instead of swiping up to go to my apps it's now down. Just takes some used to getting used to.

So glad I switched

I bought this because I was tired of charging my galaxy watch twice a day. Wasn't aware of all the extras that came with it. I love the fitness tracking but mostly, I love the little inspirational messages after my morning report. I am still learning all the functions but I woulld recommend this to anyone.

Lightweight and versatile!

Coming from the quite indestructible Fenix Pro Solar 6, I was torn on what to get for my lifestyle. I am quite clumsy, and the Fenix never even got a scratch. It just stopped connecting to my phone. I settled on the Vivo6, and so far, I LOVE it! I lift weights, run, yoga, paddle board, ride horses and run a farm. I have a full cover/screen protector for my vivo, and it is handling my life very well.

Great - except

I upgraded from a vivoactive 3 music. Things were going along well. I like the spOx. I used to wear ann ORing, but it only lasted over night. This Vivoactive 6 is all day and I get other information about my sleep. My wife says I stop breathing while sleeping and I can see where my respiration slows over night. The i noticed that the watch wasn't charging. I would plug and unplug to try again. It would bring to charge. It was then I noticed that the charging cable had a loose end that then separated the top from the cable. Had it been a straight USB C connector i could have kept it charging with another cable. My Vivoactive 3 cable a different and wouldn't work with this new watch. In a world of universal connections, why does Garmin use a proprietary connector. Dumb. Overtaking I like the watch and hope I don't ruin into more cable issues.

Great features

I started with a Vivosmart 4 that was gifted to me. I decided to upgrade and after researching all the different options out there, I decided to stay with Garmin and purchased the Vivoactive 6. It’s user friendly and easy to customize the face. The battery lasts about 11 days, which is a major feature for me. The band it comes with is very comfortable and if you want to switch the band, it couldn’t be easier.

Great purchase!

I turned in my Apple watch and switched to Garmin. So far I am very pleased I did! I based my decision on reviews and current Garmin users and Garmin’s reputation. I am very happy with how it is performing. My Apple phone synced flawlessly and I am using the Garmin Connect app. My Apple health app works to record watch data also. The activities data is much enhanced over Apple watch data also. I have not used the watch with All Trails yet but am looking forward to that very soon for hiking. I am very happy with the watch face and all the displays. The extended battery life is just as advertised! I have the watch and band in all rose pink. Great decision!

Disappointed

This is my third Garmin fitness tracker and surprisingly the quality is decreasing. Although it offers many additional features, the fitness tracking and sleep is inconsistent. My heart rate tracking stops sporadically and the only way to reset is to do a hard shutdown. I called about this and was told sometimes it needs to do updates when a watch is new. It seems like I shouldn't need to do a system shutdown daily for a Garmin to work properly.
