Q: The toaster lever does not easily engage. In order to get it to stay down I usually have to push down quickly with force, and even still it does not always engage. Not sure if this is due to poor design, or if I got a defective unit.

A: We had the same problem until we learned that you need to push the lever down gently to get it to engage. It's a much softer push than the normal toaster.

Q: WHERE EXACTLY DO YOU PUT THE TRAY WHEN BROILING. THE INSTRUCTIONS SAY TO PLACE RACK ON THE TOP SLOT AND PLACE THE TRAY UNDER IT. IF SO IT WILL SIT RIGHT ON TOP OF THE COIL???? NOT SURE THAT IS CORRECT.

A: You should definitely NOT be placing the tray on top of the coil! The tray slides into the bottom of the rack itself.

A: Thank you for your question. The cooking instructions provided in the Use and Care manual is correct. When broiling, the rack should be placed in the top position with the baking pan positioned under it.

A: I feel this information should be stated in the booklet that comes with the oven about the product. Because the back pipe did not turn red on my oven, I thought the product was defective and had it packed up to return. This is an unusual design and merits an explanation.

Q: I received mine and the baking pan is at least an inch and a half - 2" short or reaching the grooves to slide into the oven. If I try to use it by just laying it on top of the rack, it slides. ?

A: Thank you for your reply. Any toaster oven i've had previously always slid into the side slots like the rack and traditional ovens allow you to put in your baking pan as wide as the rack as you lay it on the rack rather than having to slide it into little wire "holders" that are attached direction to the rack but with a narrower area. I still love the toaster, it works great and looks great. this is just the one thing that I find frustrating.

A: Thank you for your question. The baking pan is not meant to slide into the slots, those to meant for the racks. You would place the baking pan on the rack as you would in a traditional oven.

Will the second time be a charm?

Nice product but has an issue
I am sure we were just unlucky getting a product with a broken toast function. The handle/lever that you push down to lower the bread slices into the machine does not want to stay down. As soon as you press it down it slides back up. So no toast possible! Currently working with HB for a fix! Otherwise it's a sturdy, good looking machine. Oven function work great

This little toaster oven is great!! We love the toaster combo on the top! It was very even on both sides and was efficient! This one is slightly bigger than our previous one which makes it a better choice for our family. Love it!!

Works really well EXCEPT for trying to remove the food tray
Wish the toaster oven had a handle to slide the tray out. My previous HB toaster oven had a hinge that allowed the tray to come out. Why doesn't it have a handle or hinge so that I don't burn my hand trying to take the food tray out???

Large profile, right side controls
I bought this to replace a much older model. The idea of a pop-up toaster was appealing, but the reality is that even on the darkest setting, every piece of toast requires two cycles before there is any evidence of toasting. My kitchen requires this appliance to be placed in one spot only and because of the right-hand controls, this is inconvenient for using toaster. On the plus side, there is much more room in the oven part, though the toaster slot means I’m wasting the heat that just rises up from that open slot. Wish I had shopped in person!
