Q: Do I remove small rubbers from the tray before use it?

A: Great question, Tash. We do not recommend removing the silicone parts from the cooking tray. These pieces are used to keep the tray in place whilst in the basket, in addition to allowing for proper air circulation. We hope this helps!

submitted byNav81 - 5 years agoA: I would not remove them. Those rubber guards are made of silicone, which can withstand very high temperatures. I have a Ninja air fryer and it also has those rubber things attached to the cooking tray. Those guards help to elevate the cooking tray to allow air to circulate beneath the food. It's interesting that those rubber guards are not illustrated in the user manual for the Instant Pot, but are shown in their promotional videos. Since mine were already installed, I left the rubber things on the tray without any problem.

A: I've run mine 6 times, cleaned 6 times, cooked a dozen times and it REEKS OF PLASTIC. Food smells like plastic. I hate this thing.

We loved this air fryer until the handle screw mount was about to break off. Thankfully we recognized it and took it off before a hot pan fell on someone's feet. Moreover the tray feet bubble in heat and change color. Contacted support and they do not even have replacement parts. Very disappointed in the brand

Purchased this in 2020 and still to this day it works perfectly! No rust. We clean it right after use to avoid burn marks. The rubber on the tray have fallen off, we’ve been using the frier without the tray and works just fine! We didn’t think we needed a fryer until we got one and we use it 1-2 times a week. Honestly if I had to buy another one I would buy this one again :)

Bought in 2021 & have used almost daily since. I only use my oven when something doesnt fit in the air fryer. I do hate cleaning the tray but it’s not hard. I use parchment paper so no mess is made. *tip* if having trouble cleaning, use a dishwasher pod and let it soak overnight.

I doubted the hype, then bought a trusted brand (I have an instant pot!) and there is no turning back. The 6 quart size is right for us. Food cooks evenly and the controls are easy to use.

I used this air fryer almost everyday for almost 2 years. Unfortunately it just stopped working. It was great while it lasted. I really liked the large basket and the screen and dial to do the temp and time. Now I need to start looking for another air fryer. Disappointed that this only lasted 2 years.

My husband and I bought this from Target in hopes that we could be part of the Air Fryer family. We cleaned it several times prior to using, ran it empty for hours, and yet we still can not get that new air fryer taste out of it.

I just bought another Instant Vortex after the one I bought one year ago simply stopped working. No power to it. I bought it again because I really liked the one I had. I used it almost daily. I've stopped using my oven. I am going to give it one more try. I bought the metal one. If it stops working again, I'll be forced, of course, to try another brand. Things sure are not made the way they used to be made!

The 18 minute test cycle is what burns off whatever chemical residue is on the product after that you can start cooking without any chemical smell or flavor in your food. Definitely 100% don’t skip that and do it in a place where you can ventilate because it doesn’t smell like something you wanna be breathing in Once that cycle is over, it seems to be fine

I was giving this air fryer for a house warming gift in October. We noticed the terrible smell and our food tasted like plastic. We thought it was just because it was new. STILL TO THIS DAY it makes our food taste like plastic/ chemical smell. I am sooo disappointed in this product. Our left overs the next day are literally uneatable because of the taste. This can't be safe to eat. We still have the box for it. I would love to return this item. It hasn't been a year but it has been used

I don’t know if this is a third party seller or what but I had major issues. The first one got lost on the mail and a replacement was sent. The replacement arrived WIDE OPEN. I have video of the delivery service placing it on my door step wide open. There was also styrofoam packing missing. It almost makes me wonder if this was a second or a returned item. Terrible experience.

The burning plastic smell is HORRID. It certainly can crisp food- but im sad i spent money on this product to only feel ill from the smell. I have used it mutlipe times and the smell will not fade.
