A: My hair stylist has noticed some build up but it has not posed issues for me for her to continue dying on it. I try to get as much residue out as I can before seeing her though.

Q: Can the spray be used to conceal thin areas for someone experiencing hair loss/thinning in some spots? Natural hair color is off black.

A: I was looking at this product to use instead of my Bumble and Bumble (colored) hair powder spray because I need a different color. Otherwise, I love the Bumble and Bumble and use it for my thinning hair. I do not know if this product does what B & B does, but I was hoping it did since B & B works WONDERS for thinning hair. It miraculously makes the hair look thicker and camoflauges the thinning areas completely. I lost a lot of hair the last few months due to medication (horrible shedding) so I understand exactly what you are asking. I am going to try this product because Target is wonderful about letting you return their products if they do not work. If this doesn't work, I will stick with my B & B. Good luck!

A: Hi Steph! The Root Cover Up Spray is not like a traditional haircolor and will not dry out the hair. It will wash out in one wash. Since you did mentioned that your hair is very dry and damaged, we recommend using the Total Repair 5 Damage Erasing Balm. It is a hair mask that can help add moisture to the hair and prevent breakage. We hope this helps!

It says no smudging and it definitely smudges. I sweat a lot in the summer time it’s becomes a hassle to constantly color / dye my hair.. thought this would have been a great change but definitely not…. It was messy… don’t recommend if you sweat from your scalp…

While the one positive is that it is very easy to use , quick spray and you're done, the results left a lot to be desired. The formula made my hair feel stiff and fuzzy, which made it hard to style afterward. I also noticed that overspray got on my forehead and if I touched my hair or ran a brush through it it would rub off. It just didn’t blend in naturally or feel good in my hair. This might work better for others with different hair types or styling needs, but for me, the texture and messiness outweighed the convenience.

This one has exceeded my expectations. It goes on smooth and looks natural. The shade is perfect and blends well with my dark brown hair. Don't waste your money on this product. It makes your hair feel nasty full of thick gunk that stiffens the hair like hair spray, and then comes off on anything your hair touches or head touches. Even approximately an hour later, it still turns fingers and hair combs or brushes dark brown. I am washing my hair on the same day (possibly twice with Dawn dish soap) to get this crap-spray hair color out of my hair. The last thing I need, is my beautiful bedding ruined!

So I use this product not only to help cover my roots but also to help camouflage my thinning areas and make it appear thicker. It's not sticky, and my hair is still manageable. Use with caution if you sweat because it does have a tendency to run (think Rudy Guiliani). But overall, I love this stuff!

The spray comes out incredibly fast—almost like a pressure washer—which makes it tricky to apply without getting it on my face or clothing. I've had it in my hair outside in the heat, in rain and snow, and it didn't budge and the color didn't run. The shade is black and it matches my hair perfectly. I can't be without this product. I've tried other brands that didn't work good like this one. I recently it 100%.

Small bottles are easier for my hand to grip so was exited to get it out to try. Extremely light scent so wasn't overpowering. My hair is a medium texture and medium density. My grey is almost completely white, expected the dark blonde to be lighter but it was a bit darker then I would have liked it to be BUT it really covered pretty well and gave some much needed dimension to my look! I would use this again as it seems like it blends my grey away, would need to try a lighter shade possibly. But this wasn't too far off!

Coverage is good if you get the distance from the hair and the spray JUST right. Stills feels a little sticky, dry on my hair but washes out easily. Smells fine. Color was slightly too dark for me when it sprayed too heavily but was good when o could get the spray distance just right Would use if in a pinch but wouldn’t be my first choice for grey blending. Price is good on it.

Its a quick fix that last for at least two days if you dont have the time to dye your hair especially if your hair grows fast. I have braids right now so its great for a quick root touchup! It does not have a smell and the dark brown is a great color match for my hair. First time trying this shade but its a good choice so will select this color moving fwd since its more natural than jet black. Its easy to use. The only thing you have to be careful about is the residue rubbing off things such as hats and scarves. So make sure its dry or else it will run. Otherwise its great!
