Matter Compostable Snack Bags

They rip when you try to open them. Maybe they shouldn’t come pre-sealed? The material isn’t strong enough.

Impossible to open. I’ve tried several and unfortunately destroy them trying to get them open. They don’t have a zipper so the reviewer who said to use the zipper doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

Ok so yeah, like the other reviews they are a little hard to open. But the negative reviews are unnecessary. Just open them close to the zipper. If my 7 year old can do it, an adult can too. We haven’t tried composting these yet but have used them over and over and have held up to washing. Will definitely be buying these over the plastic ones now!

Would be nice to use if you could get them open.

These are ridiculous!! I went through 5 or 6 bags trying just to open them up! The seal is tight but just trying to open them to fill them the bag rips! No way will I buy these ever again! What an unfortunate waste. I was looking forward to buying all the different sizes. Even if someone gets one open without ripping them there is no way they won’t rip when trying to open them again!

The quality on these is no good - every time you try to open them, they tear. I’m glad they’re going to break down in the trash, because that’s where they’re all going.

Impossible to open without tearing the bag. I might as well use a paper bag instead if I want something compostable that works

Excellent durability and seal. They seal better than plastic bags, so grip close to the zip to open.

I brought them because they are compostable but they are too difficult to open. I have torn several of them just trying to open them

Opening the bags is nearly impossible. The seal won’t come open and you end up just stretching/tearing the tops of the bags. It takes me several tries of pulling (with a ridiculous amount of force) to pop open the seam. Trying to slide the seam sideways doesn’t work either. I initially thought maybe it would only be difficult the very first time you opened a new bag, and that after that it would be fine. But this is not the case. They remain just as difficult to open every time. My 12 year old son could not open them at all. It appears to just be a flaw in the design of the bags from the looks of these reviews, most everyone seems to have this same issue. If you’re considering purchasing these for a young child’s school lunches I would 100% recommend finding a different option!

These bags are impossible to open! Total waste of money because we cannot open them to use them and there is no way a child could open them to get snacks.

I bought these because I felt guilty about using traditional disposable snack bags and found the reusable ones to not be a great option because they're difficult to clean. I tried the sandwich and snack bags and found they come sealed and the sandwich bags are impossible to open without ripping and the snack bags are barely able to be opened without ripping. It was such a great idea but the execution missed the mark.

I would give zero stars. The bags just rip open when trying to unzip them. No matter how careful I was to open the bag to use it I could not get a single one open to actually use. I reached out to the company and never heard back.

My son takes snacks to school everyday and never comes back with the bag to be reused. So I felt really bad about the waste and spent more money on these to be a bit eco friendly. Every bag I opened to fill with snacks, ripped. I can’t send snacks for him- no way would he be able to open it if I didn’t rip it filling it up.

I bought 2 sizes. Every bag I tried to open tore. Tried contacting company, ignored!

I love these compostable bags! They’re reasonably priced, really sturdy material, and they can be reused after light/moderate used. I’ve read some of the other reviews and they’re right about the seal: the bags are tough to open without tearing the area above the seal (outside the bag). When that does occur, I simply open the bag like I would a bag of chips and toss the torn baggie out. Since they’re compostable, I don’t feel bag about it!

I use a lot of bags so was intrigued to try these but they are so bad. They constantly break and it’s really difficult to open them.

I love eco friendly, however, every bag ripped & I had to put the entire box in the trash.

I really wanted to like these, great idea but they just fell right apart when you open them. Had to return.

I would rate ZERO stars if I were allowed to. I do not recommend this product to anyone. I do love these are made from plant material and are 100% compostable. However, I couldn't get the bags to open without tearing. Each bag is packaged with the seal closed (as is the norm with plastic storage bags). Every time I tried to open the bag from the top, it would rip right above the seal. If I tried to open the bag from below, the seal it would rip right below the seal. The only way I was able to get the bag to open was to create a vertical fold against the seal and wiggle it to get the seal to unlock. But this causes a bend in the seal completely compromising it. So frustrating.
