Beautiful, colorful and educational

We loved this set, all of us. My son found it very exiting. The box has a rich inclusion and all pieces are interesting. The only thing that you need to know that you should be patient. Growing the crystals may take up to 2 weeks. For us it has been almost 10 days and we can see the crystals now in the feeding tube but it is not complete, yet.

This was an absolute fun project!!! I love that it’s not instant gratification but instead requires a few days wait to watch our crystals grow!! My daughter has always been obsessed with rocks and crystals so growing her own is mind blowing for her!! We can’t wait to see what the outcome is!! So much fun & excitement!!

My kids were very excited to get this. It says 8+ but it definitely requires an adults help. Comes with a lot in the kit and it seems high quality. It takes 7-10 days to grow the crystals in a sunny undisturbed area. Vibration diminishes the growth. Ours are in the process of growing. Overall exciting for the kids.

The mega crystal set is a unique gift/craft/hobby set that both excites and educates children. Upon opening the box (which is fairly heavy for the size package), you are greeted with a small bag of oddly shaped crystals and a simple guide book. Inside the book are the instructions for the various mixes that are included to grow your crystals. Each crystal mix bag also has an accompanying crystal 'seed' that is required for the crystal to grow on. After having read the directions twice over, it was time to make the first crystals. What I found is that you HAVE to follow those instructions to the letter! The first batch we made we tried to make did not turn out well (or at all for that matter). When they say you need a cup of hot water - they basically mean near boiling and you need to work quickly to mix the bag into the pot (which cannot be aluminum). After mixing until the powder dissolves, you have to quickly pour the solution into the included silicon cup with 'seed' starter. Then comes 7+ days of waiting for something to happen. If all goes well, after a week, although we waited 10 days to be sure, you gently pour out the remaining liquid and you get a crystal - which then has to continue drying on a piece of cardboard for another 24 hours. Only then you get to touch your crystal safely. Is the kit worth the gift? Probably if you are willing to dedicate a fairly large amount of time and space to setup and leave while the crystal grows. My son liked making the crystal, but afterwards it is now merely a piece that sits on a hutch collecting dust.

I love that it was easy to use and clean up and inspired learning and creative thinking. The kids loved watching the crystals grow and we learned how they are made. It was a fun learning activity.

My son loves science and he's always wanted to grow his own crystals so this set was perfect for him! When we opened this set im not sure who was more excited him or me because this was very exciting had so much included that by the time we finally got everything out of the box we both were at the edge of out chairs. First thing we did was read the booklet and made sure we had out safety steps covered first. Next we got out of kettle and got some water boiling. we measured out our water and placed one cup of boiling water into a mixing boil and immediately placed in our crystal growing powder and stirred with our mixing stick that was included. Once powder is dissolved it is poured into the crystal growing chamber and set to cool for at least 15 minutes. Once cool the crystal seed is placed and must it must be left undisturbed for 7-10 days. If the casual is grown in the silicone cup it can be easily removed and placed onto the light up base for an up close look at your crystal! The crystal has 8 different colors but only five can be placed on the light up base at a time. Our crystals grew pretty big we made two at a time so we could use the silicone cups and easily remove them to view them on the light up base. We really enjoyed doing this set together and my son was able to learn about crystals with the learning guide. He checked on the crystals everyday and was amazed at the daily changes they were making!
