Exactly what it says!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Back to the Roots “Better” Raised Bed mix is perfect. We’ve repotted a couple succulents and some herbs for our kitchen. We found it retains water well, no annoying little flying bugs and it looks nice. It’s a rich, deep soil packed with nutrients to help your plants grow! We’ve used a few different types of soil from this brand and we are huge fans!

Good soil. A lot of bugs. Better outdoor
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good soil, it was pretty aerated and held moisture well. It did have a lot of small bugs so not ideal for indoor plants without some treatment. I had no business trying cherry blossoms in this weather but one still grew. Minus one for the bugs

A Lovely Soil for your Raised Bed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This organic, peat-free mix is a total game-changer for anyone serious about raised bed gardening. The first thing you notice is the incredible texture; it’s remarkably light and fluffy, providing the perfect balance of aeration and drainage that prevents soil compaction. Unlike many bagged soils that turn into a dense brick after a few waterings, this mix stays porous, allowing young roots to spread effortlessly. It is clearly packed with high-quality nutrients and beneficial biology, as evidenced by the immediate, vibrant growth of everything from heavy-feeding vegetables to delicate herbs. What truly sets the Back to the Roots mix apart is its ability to retain moisture without becoming waterlogged. It keeps plants hydrated through the midday heat while ensuring they never suffer from root rot, which is a common struggle in contained garden beds. Furthermore, the commitment to a 100% peat-free and organic formula makes it a standout choice for the environmentally conscious grower. It offers the peace of mind that you are using a sustainable product that is safe for your family and the planet. Ultimately, this soil mix eliminates the guesswork and the need for immediate supplemental fertilizing. The results are visible in the lush foliage and the overall health of the garden throughout the entire growing season. While it may be a premium option, the superior quality and impressive yields it produces make it a fantastic investment for any gardener. It is easily the most reliable and high-performing raised bed mix I have used to date, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Soil saved my new plants
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this potting soil to plant some new plants in a planter box and in the ground in front of my house in Florida. After severely cold weather (for Florida) all week that hit temps below freezing, my plants are still thriving in this soil. I’m very happy with the product.

Rich, nutritious soul
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This soil is amazing! We live in an apartment and wanted to start a garden on our balcony. This soil is great for our raised bed. I took horticulture classes in the past and am familiar with different types of soil, and this one seems amazing. It filled our bed no problem, and seems rich and full of nutrients. I am so excited to see our harvest!

Very nice soil which also comes in a good size
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] (I took photos of the bag before opening it, then used the mix right away. Once opened and in use, the bag didn’t exactly survive it, so I didn’t take more pictures.) This year I started experimenting with some herbs and edible plants on my balcony (basil, mint, verbena, thyme, parsley etc), so I was happy this mix is meant specifically for edible plants. The soil itself feels really nice to work with: light, well balanced, and not dusty or chunky. It’s still early to judge long-term results, but everything that’s doing well is doing well for normal reasons. One plant isn’t thriving right now, but that’s from winter timing and being away, not the soil. I also loved that they sent a full-size bag instead of a small sample. It made it possible to actually use the product properly. Overall, really solid first impression and something I’d use again.

Good "Dirt"
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This bed mix had a mild earthy scent, so it was pleasant to work with. Was a little difficult to scoop with what I had, but not so much that I couldn't get it out of the bag; more packed together than hard texture. My plant bed is now fresh to finish winter, and will be ready for new plants in Spring. I liked the feeling of the mix in my hands, that it was simple to spread, and simple to wash off once I was done. High quality ingredients used, so I am confident my plants will grow healthy!
