UPPAbaby Soma Smart Bassinet in Charlie - Sand Melange

The Soma bassinet at first was really great. However, after using it for seven weeks the amount of noise it makes is very alarming. It’s a clicking noise and it also sounds like a squeaking noise as well. Something is not right on the inside of the bassinet. I’m waiting to hear back from UPPAbaby, but I have not heard back yet. It’s so loud I can hear the squeaking noise from the other room. Additionally, the lights to turn the bassinet on and are so bright during the night I have to cover it with a burp cloth. There’s no option to turn it off. That was definitely a flaw in the design as well. I’m so disappointed in this item, especially for the price point. Hoping UPPAbaby will fix this and make it right with their customer. As a tired parent I’m very unhappy with this product.

It's a smart bassinet that is not only functional in helping your baby sleep, but it also doubles as a beautiful addition to your nursery. Easy to install and transfer room to room, the Soma is practical, lightweight and extremely well made. It has multiple movement and sound features, but our favorite thing about it is how seamless the MotionSync feature is with the app. Our baby loves to bounce, and it allowed us to pair our unique bouncing motion straight to the bassinet with one simple selection in the app. I also love that the sides of the bassinet are mesh and breathable, allowing me to relax knowing any movement my baby had while sleeping would be safe and comfortable for him. The only critique I have is that the start of the movement could be a little bit smoother, as it tends to give a slight jolt when it starts during some of the motion features. The set up was easy, and so was getting started in the app. Once on, you can easily connect via Bluetooth and control the bassinet from your phone, which I love. My absolute favorite aspect of this item is the 'Shhh' sound feature - it's a game changer. I also love the motion sync, which detects your motion and replicates it via the bassinet with preset controls. Once we started using this bassinet, the baby would fall asleep way faster, and for longer. He's now sleeping through the night! The only change I would make is foldable sides, and the ability to move the bassinet over my bed, besides that, it's perfect! The mesh is amazingly breathable and the washable mattress is perfect for our little one; this is definitely worth the money! And if you're in the bathroom and hear the baby cry, you can just turn on motions/sound through the app, and set a timer too. Game changer!! I am a first time mom of a 12 week old baby and have been getting 8-9 hours of sleep every single night for several weeks now! The soma is super easy to use. I place my baby in the bassinet, select my motion through the buttons on the device, and pick a sound. The app is very easy to use as well and there is a very cool feature that identifies the closest motion option to how you rock your own baby. My baby takes tons of naps throughout the day and I use the app to turn up the white noise and adjust motion settings if my dogs are barking and wake her up. Besides the motion and sound, I appreciate the basket on the bottom of the bassinet for storage for my baby's supplies and the adjustable height so my back isn't breaking when I'm helping soothe her before she falls asleep. I also very much appreciate the washable mattress to get rid of spit up. Overall I would highly recommend this bassinet for its functionality while being very aesthetically pleasing. No more having to worry about transferring my baby and him waking up. I think he even prefers to just fall asleep in the bassinet rather than in my arms. The breathable mesh was a big win for me, I had my baby in the NICU as his lungs were not yet fully developed and not having to worry about anything blocking any oxygen away from him gave me a BIG peace of mind as well as the breathable mattress. Not having to worry about my baby overheating or something getting in his way of breathing allowed me to stop waking up every 5 minutes to check on him! For that I have to say thank you to Stellar Product Testing Panel for choosing me to received this amazing product! you saved me from sleepless nights! Another big plus is that it has a big storage space where I have organized diapers, bibs, lotions, and other essentials. If I could change one thing it would be a longer cord. I like to move my bassinet around and it's already a bit complicated as it doesn't have wheels, but on top of that I do have to find nearby outlets with free space around. But overall I can deal with that if it means my baby will get some good sleep. The music options are very much what you get with any other baby sleeping equipment, lullabies and birds chirping, shushing and rain. But I just have to keep talking about the swaying settings. You can choose from low settings to high settings (5 different levels) and 5 different swaying motions (sway, rock, wave, cruise and bounce). My baby instantly fell in love with the wave but they are all great settings! Not to mention that you can lock your settings!! This way if baby's older siblings want to come mess with the bassinet they will not be able to change your settings. There's also a smart app that allows you to MotionSync! This means you can have the app match your movements for a better personalized experience! If that isn't impressive, I don't know what is! As far as assembling, it was very easy! No need to worry about this when you start nesting! This product is verified by the Baby Safety Alliance and as someone who owns a lot of UPPAbaby I highly recommend to check out this and other of their products! You will not regret it. I am a first-time mom with 2-month-old son who has really struggled with daytime naps. This bassinet has been the only way to get him to nap independently so far, with soothing motions that relax and rock him to sleep. This also freed up my ability to get things done during the day, so our house is finally clean again! The control panel and app were intuitive and easy to figure out. MotionSync was quite nifty - my husband and I loved playing around with the app to try to find the most effective rocking technique. The materials and design are super sleek, so the Soma looks great in our nursery. My baby loves the cozy mattress, and the breathable mesh sides give me peace of mind. I love the storage basket, where we keep baby pjs, burp cloths, and other daily necessities. I also found product setup super easy (my husband was surprised by how quickly I got it up and running after opening the box!). A couple things to be mindful of: 1) I wish the lowest default volume level were lower and that there were more sound options available. I ended up using a separate sound machine for greater sound variety and ability to better adjust volume level, but if you're just looking for white noise, this may be a non-issue. 2) I wish the control lights turned off because in a dark room, this bassinet always emits a bit of blue light… this was a bit distracting if the bassinet was facing me at night. Overall, I would recommend the Soma for parents seeking a savvy solution to help your newborn fall asleep quicker and stay asleep longer. With the price tag, this bassinet is an investment. But in those early days, more sleep makes a huge difference for baby and parents alike, and this bassinet will keep you sane and rested.

It helped everyone in our home get the extra sleep we so desperately needed! Prior to using the Soma basinett our infant had trouble settling after excessive night wakings. With the Soma basinett offering 5 motion settings and 4 sound settings that can all be accessed without me getting out of bed through the Uppa baby APP or front light up display on my soma basinett my infant was able to be quickly soothed back to sleep. The soma motionsync function is amazing. I am able to record my motions using my phone rocking /bouncing the baby and the app matches those motions in the basinett !!The App was extremely easy to use and setup took minutes .We were able to easily set preset choices for our infants favorite motion /sound combinations on the app as well .The soma basinett has a sleek clean look that complimented our bedroom . The adjustable height came in handy as we have a higher bed and the Soma basinett reached perfect height for me to be able to lay in bed and still touch and see my baby. The Soma mattress is the absolute best and hypoallergenic sheet was extremely comfortable for my excema baby.I also love the included mesh storage basket which allowed easy acess to diapers ,wipes and other supplies for middle of the night diaper changes . The soma basinett gives us not only the extra sleep but the peace of mind knowing our baby is sleeping safe with the breathable mesh mattress and sidewalls. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Soma Bassinet was provided to us to by the Stellar Product Testing Panel and has been an amazing addition to our newborns nightly routine. We received the bassinet when our little one was about 3 months old and was getting to the point that he was very interested in what we were doing that would prevent him from falling asleep when rocking at night. Since getting this, we are able to put him down in the bassinet and turn the lights off and it rock him to sleep. He usually falls asleep in about 15 minutes once we put him down. The 8 hour timer on the rock is then almost a built in alarm clock as he will sleep through the night until it stops running and he seems to be sleeping really well. Due to the movements, it is harder to mount our monitor to it, so we had to wall mount it, which makes the sleep detection on the monitor unreliable as it thinks he is moving all night. The bassinet itself is sturdy and I don't fear knocking into at night as it is not lightweight enough that it moves easily, but also not too heavy that I can't move it. Assembly was one of the easiest baby products that we received. With just a few pieces that snap together, I could have easily put it together while heavily pregnant. The material of the mattress protector is lightweight and easy to clean and the mattress is breathable. The velcro attachments of the mattress to the bassinet makes it so you cannot use other fitted sheets with it. It only has one height adjustment and I am 5'2 while my husband is 5'10 and we find that at the top height neither of us have to bend over to transfer him into the bassinet, making sleep transfers easier. The app itself is easy to use and setup, in fact we prefer to use the app controls when he is asleep as the buttons themselves can be a little finicky on whether they accept the input or not on the bassinet itself. Probably due to the plastic touchscreen panel. While the MotionSync is easy to use and does work, it is not something that we use regularly but I can see where it would be beneficial if we had a fussier baby. All in all, I wish we had this bassinet earlier on as it is amazing and been a great help and relief. At the price point it would be an investment piece but when compared with other rocking bassinets on the market, one I would recommend. We have even recommended this to several of our friends that are expecting.

Pros: Mesh sides, mesh mattress, cable management was decent and the cord I felt was long enough. The movements were smooth once started. Cons: It's aggressive on start up, sound machine is to loud, double mesh walls can get spit up in between, the motor is loud and makes a clicking sound, control panel is bright when adjusting and cant adjust speed down without turning it off.. overall quality feels cheap.

In so many ways this bassinet outshines so many other brands and types. Straight out of the box, it was very easy to put together and I appreciated the thoughtful details like having a place to snap in the plug-in cord so that it is out of the way and compact. It is so sturdy and yet the fabric and mesh make the bed part feel so airy and light. I really love that it mimics the same motions and sounds that the Mamaroo has. Makes for really seamless transitions for sleep as my little one gets sleepy and is ready for a nap or nighttime. The swaying setting I have set is very close to my own motions which easily calms her down and sets the tone. I really like that I can control through the panel or through the app in case I want to start/stop the sounds or functionality from across the room. The fabric and materials are such awesome quality and I know will last for a long time. Really thoughtful details on the below storage that is not too low to reach down for, yet high enough that my small dog is not able to jump in! Very useful for extra cloths or spare pjs in the middle of the night. The only drawback might be that it is a bit bulkier than other bassinets. I don't see that as a con for me though, since I have great piece of mind that it's sturdy and there's no chance of it moving during all of the swaying motions. I cannot say enough great things about this smart bassinet. The mesh side walls make it easy for me to keep an eye on my baby while she is sleeping and gives me a peace of mind that she is safely on her back. The mattress pad that is provided with the bassinet is flat and comfortable enough for her where she has gone 6-7 hours sleeping throughout the night. I also enjoy that the mattress pad is washable as my daughter went through a period where she was throwing up and the mattress was easy to put in the washer and clean. Whenever my daughter gets a little fussy and tries to self soothe, I enjoy using the motion functions and sounds to help soothe her back to sleep. Her favorite sound it the shhh which helps put her right back to sleep. The sounds can also be volume adjusted which I enjoy as I can make is just loud enough for her to hear but not super loud where I would hear it from another room. I also love having the storage basket u beneath the bassinet to store diapers and wipes for middle of the night changes. The one suggestion I would have for this bassinet is making it on wheels. I would of loved to have the option where wheels are included so I could make her bassinet mobile and move it around room to room. Other than the lack of it being mobile, the bassinet meets my overall needs and allows my baby to be comfortable while sleeping.

It's a high-end, thoughtful piece of baby gear that makes my life easier. The motion options are SO smooth and fluid, and the motor is very quiet! I can hardly hear it at all. There are four nice sound options too, but what's really cool is the "Motion sync" feature in the UPPAbaby app . Basically, the bassinet can mimic your own rocking style, so the motion feels familiar and your baby will sleep longer. I give this smart bassinet all the credit for my 6 week old now sleeping six hours straight most nights!! You can change the motions , speeds, and sounds in the app. That's been a game changer during the day when I'm not in the room when my baby starts to wake, and I need to make quick adjustments. The "buttons" on the bassinet itself are softly backlit, which is obviously very helpful in the middle of the night. The bassinet can run for several hours continuously. That's great for those longer stretches we now get at night, so we're not constantly having to readjust or restart. The mattress is made of a really neat mesh that feels so comfortable. My husband joked he wishes our mattress was just a giant version of it! It's top tier. I also appreciate that the mattress cover is fully machine washable. The breathable mesh siding is a thoughtful safety feature that gives me a lot of peace of mind. I can see and check on my baby without even having to get up out of bed. My husband pointed out that the cable management is well thought out . There are four tidy channels to route wires so things don't look bad or get in the way. This isn't a budget bassinet. The motions and sounds seemed to soothe her even if it was just as a quick distraction until I could get up and get her. She started having longer stretches of sleep as well and I believe this because I didn't immediately pick her up when she cried but rather soothed her back to sleep with the motion features without her ever seeing me. The soma smart bassinet has a lot of great features. It has many motion combos (cruise, bounce, sway, rock and wave) to see which one the little one responds to best with different speeds. It also has a sound machine (fan, rain, ocean and shhh) of varying volume. What is really cool is that there is an app to control these settings with up to 3 presets and control it via Bluetooth. There is also a feature called Motion Sync where you take your phone and rock it like a baby and it will try to find the combination that is like your motion. There is also a great storage space right under the bassinet to place your diaper basket or other things you use frequently so it is not dead space. You can also adjust the height of the legs to fit your comfort. The Soma smart bassinet is beautiful and also aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Its neutral color matches with any furniture. While the color Charlie/ Sand Mélange looks a little more pink in the picture, it is actually more closer to a very light gray. It has a soft breathable mesh all around and would not cause irritation to the skin if the baby's face got too close or can breathe as well. The mattress is a little thicker providing more comfort than a prior bassinet we had but still flat and stiff for safe sleep. The mattress is washable as well for all the spit ups that can occur. I The box it came in was huge and heavy. But set up was very easy. It does take up more space that I thought it would as well. So I would recommend to check the measurements before you buy. While there are all these great features that would seem to help my little sleep better, unfortunately my little did not sleep longer or more soundly than the one I already had. I also found there was a soft hum after you turned off the bassinet for a period of time before it is quiet. I was given this bassinet to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel.
