Q: Do these have soft or medium bristles? My gums are too sensitive for anything harder than soft :(

submitted by LucieH - 5 years ago
  • A: The answer is subjective. Soft does not really have a specific definition. I would call them medium using Colgate toothbrushes as a baseline.

I really like the sonic toothbrush. It's intended to be a replacement for my 3 or 4 year old previous one. The only thing wrong with the old one is the on/off working part is very hard to remove to replace the battery. Once the battery goes, it will go.

After about 5 years of daily use my original plastic quip broke, not the motor, just the plastic body where the head snaps on. I am so happy with the results of my semi annual dental checkups that I ordered 2 more one for my wife and one for me. The new aluminum toothbrushes are vey sturdy and are still flawlessly designed. Thanks for a great product.

    Quality Has Gotten Worse

We've been using Quip brushes for a few years, have replaced two of them at least twice. This last purchase appeared to have a dead battery after a couple weeks, so we replaced it. It worked for a little while, and now it's luck of the draw how long it's going to to work for, if at all. Mine has started doing the same thing . . . new battery in older brush, same issues as in the brand new one. Very disappointed in what's happened to the quality of these.

I love the design, and I love the toothbrush when it actually works. The first one I had lasted about four years, I’ve since bought two and they both have been completely unreliable. Sometimes they work sometimes they don’t sometimes they work for a little bit. I am sorry that what initially was a great product has turned into a piece of garbage. Going to look for a different brand.

Metal brush does not hold the replacement brush heads very well--I have to reset it daily-- and my original plastic one has a death grip that makes them hard to change. That said, I still love the quip's capability and I've been getting great checkups for 7 years (yes, my original is 7 years old and aside from the stranglehold I love it. )

I have several quip toothbrushes, the mouth wash and dental floss dispenser. I like them all. The toothbrush is particularly good for me as I am a violent brusher and it keeps me from eroding my enamel and receding my gums. Pretty expensive but worth it for me.

I had this toothbrush for about 3 years and it worked great, until the heads stopped staying on. They would pop off multiple times while brushing. The company was great in sending me a replacement, however, I am now on my 2nd replacement in a year for the same reason. The most recent one I received also requires so much pressure on the button to turn it on that it's become really difficult to use. I would love the product if the quality was better controlled!

So far it seems okay. The test is going to be if using it after a while, the base of it doesn't retract so it makes the battery impossible to get out without tweezers. Also hopefully the toothbrush doesn't keep falling off while I'm brushing.
