We already had the classic battleship game when my son purchased this with giftcard he received. The electronic version adds some excitement and anticipation with the sound effects. But I think our favorite part is the new accessories that allow you to test multiple areas at once. There is a “radar” that tests a radius of points around a center and tells you if any of your opponents ships are within those 9 points. There’s also a “torpedo” that automatically finds an opponents ship. These add a unique twist to the classic game.

Inaccurate
My 6 year old love(d) this game - however we are having issues with it not hitting the right targets when selected. For example, my son selected “c7” which is where I had a ship but it said it was a miss. It was off by one row. That was using the preselected grids so I know it wasn’t user error.

Why would you bring this out to a paying customer?
The game itself is fine, however the box they brought it in to my car was so damaged that I cannot possibly give as a gift. So crazy!!

Better than the original
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm not sure if I just didn't know what I was doing, but the game of Battleship seems a little hard to follow the rules. I played with my younger son, who never had before. We had fun picking coordinates and waiting to see if we chose the right one. The sound effects were pretty cool and made it more fun.

This is a really fun version of Battleship!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The initial setup takes a minute, but it's nothing too tedious. The game is recommended for 8 and up, and my 10 year old had no issues with setting things up and following the directions provided in the box. He really enjoyed the electronic aspects of this game because it tells you when you hit or miss instead of it coming from the opposing player. As a mom who likes to keep things organized, I really appreciate that we are able to fit all the pieces back in the game compartments when packing it up to store it after playing a game. My son and I definitely recommend this to others. If you like the original Battleship game, you will love this electronic version!

I wanted to love it
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so excited about this game. Takes 3 AA batteries and is relatively easy to figure out. This has preset positions to choose from. It’s a lot of fun. The downside has been it restarts after you’ve sunk 3 ships. Not sure why it keeps happening. Overall it’s a very fun game, wish it wouldn’t restart before it’s supposed to.

Better for older kids
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had my two youngest kids, ages 8 and 10, try to set up and play the game. On initial setup, I had to help put together and explain how to play. You can do a custom layout or one of the standard options on the cards they give you. For younger kids, the card layouts are easier because for the custom layout you need to input the first and last coordinate of each ship. Overall my kids enjoy the game, and after the initial setup and instruction, they can play on their own without assistance. It takes more time overall then the original battleship game, but my kids like the additional sound effects.
