Q: Can these be used in boiling water in the absence of a microwave?

  • A: Hello B, Our official recommendation for heating our packs is in the microwave. If a microwave is not available, fill a large pot with enough water to fully submerge the pack without touching the bottom of the pot. Bring water to a boil and remove pot from heating surface. Do not immerse pack while water is being heated. Use a blunt, nonmetallic tool to submerge and remove the pack from the water. Do not leave pack unattended while heating. Submerge the pack for the 1-2 minutes. If pack has not reached desired temperature, submerge again (in same water) for an additional minute. Do not allow the pack to come in contact with the pot or heat source for prolonged time, excessive contact may rupture the pack. Towel dry pack before applying. Always inspect the pack for signs of damage or leaking prior to use and discard if damage is found. Always test the pack temperature before application and allow to cool if needed.

    Still using these...

    I exclusively pump and had trouble producing, so my lactation specialist suggested warm before I pump and cool after. I have two pairs of these and am very glad that I got them. I always have a set in the freezer and one at room temperature ready to warm. We also use these as a cold pack for mild injuries because they're so flexible, smaller than most cold packs, and the cover is soft. Don't plan on getting rid of these even after I'm done pumping.

    Versatile and convenient

    These hot and cold breast therapy packs are a must have for early postpartum and beyond. They can be frozen or heated depending on need. I recommend having two packs so one can always be in the freezer! I have had my set for 5 years and they’ve held up great. Beyond breastfeeding, they work well for boo-boos on small children! They are small and lightweight so easy to pack and always have on hand.

    Didn’t stay cold or warm very long. They were more bother than they were worth. I’m very glad that they were a gift, because they aren’t worth the money.

    These packs have been a lifesaver for my breastfeeding journey! The adaptability is the best part—being able to use them hot for let-down and cold for engorgement relief makes a huge difference.     Helps with Intial Feeding/ Pumping Pain

    These are so effective and functional and helping to relieve any engorgement or feeding pain, especially when initially starting out breastfeeding or pumping. The outer cloth can be washed and helped as a barrier against the cool packs. One thing to note is that they can sometimes take on a freezer smell, but baking soda and regular cleaning helps.

    Shape is ideal but not the lasting temp

    While the shape of these packs are great for their intended use they don’t keep their cold temp as long as I would have hoped. Granted the beads in the packs are meant to be comfortable they just aren’t great at keeping the cold temp. I also didn’t end up using the fabric covers at all because they tended to take away the temp faster and were too think to feel anything with them on. I ended up just using regular ice packs as an alternative during the day but used these out of convenience at night.

    One of the better packs

    I loved using these. The back side of the pack was a soft fabric while the front was the plastic with the beads. The way the cells on the pack are, they are easy to shape perfectly around the breasts.

    Easy to use

    These were easy to use. I wish they stayed cold longer but I had a few different kinds so I was able to use other ones when these got warm. I didn't use the sleeve that come with them, just so it would be even colder on me.
