Bring back the original recipe.
They shouldn’t have changed the recipe. It was my favorite cereal. They should change the name to square puffs.

Why not Gluten Free?
I used to love this cereal. Now I’m gluten free and unable to partake in. Please make a gluten free version, preferably with brown rice flour as the wheat alternative.

Why did it change to such a worse cereal?
I'm actually so glad I stumbled onto this page, because now I've found solidarity in the fact that so many others agree that the new version of this Oatmeal Squares cereal is awful, whereas I was genuinely obsessed with the old version. The pictures people have provided in these reviews are exactly what I've seen. I can't even bring myself to buy and eat this anymore. If you ask anyone who has known me my entire life, they'd all know I had a funny obsession with this cereal. I've probably spent more money on this compared to any other food. My friends would joke that I was keeping Quaker in business. I used buy so many boxes, every time I went to store. Guaranteed I bought more than any other person I know. But now I cannot find a single box anywhere across the US that has the old version of the cereal. In fact, I've noticed that every box now says "Made in Canada". Some major changes happened in the past year or so. I used to be Quaker's most ideal loyal customer and advocate. I would still pay nearly double the price of any other cereal to just buy boxes of the old version. It's been so long since I've bought and enjoyed the old cereal. I miss it so badly. If any company recreated it, I would be their loyal customer and advocate for life. I hope Quaker makes a comeback. This new version isn't even enjoyable. I don't know how a cereal could change so much that it could go from being literally my favorite food to something I no longer eat or tolerate. I'm happy to talk to anyone at Quaker about this.

Yuck
Tastes like cardboard, no Brown Sugar what so ever in the cereal bite itself. Maybe in the milk it sat in. Texture is weird, Rectangular and thick shaped.

Not the same cereal we all loved
My opinion is in line with the rest of the 1 star customer reviews. I grew up eating this cereal and it stayed with me as an adult. The new recipe was an unnecessary change to a quality cereal. The new recipe lacks the dense long lasting crunch and flavor. They are now airy and light, they get soggy in milk in minutes. I hope PepsiCo will see these reviews and make some decisions to revert back to the old recipe. Its an entirely different cereal now and I won't be buying moving forward. Very sad to see this happen.

This new version/recipe stinks! Just plain awful!
Quaker, why oh why did you change what was once a perfectly good product? IF IT AIN'T BROKEN, DON'T FIX IT! Everything about this product now (the size, taste, and texture) is horrible. Please change everything back to the original formula. Look at your recent customer feedback if you don't believe me. The people have spoken...

Sad new flavorless rectangle
Sad because the original Oatmeal Squares Brown Sugar were so reliable that it's the only food I packed to take to the hospital with me when I delivered each of my 3 children! The new version is (a) not a square and (b) not good. The photos posted by other recent reviewers accurately show the change in shape. This is not the same product. Bait and switch?

Not the product pictured
Not only has the product changed (for the worse) with no fanfare, but the picture on the package is still the old/good version and not the product inside. Used to be sweet, crunchy, and oatey, now rough and cardboard-flavored. Really disappointing, Quaker, you used to be so reliable and now it feels like a bait and switch ripoff.

Bland Worthless Cereal Disguised As The Original
It's not crunchy, it has no taste, and it feels empty. Almost stale tasting. I'm sure it's some exec's "brilliant" idea to cut costs. It's nothing close to the cereal it used to be and not worth your money. Not to mention the blatant false advertisement. They changed the formula completely and kept the same box, which looks nothing like the cereal inside. Another attempt to cut costs and intentionally con the consumer into thinking they're buying the cereal they used to love. I wonder if this is how class action lawsuits begin.

Not a fan of the new version :(
These USED to be my go-to cereal snack while working from home, but boy, they sure have changed - they're not squares at all anymore, and the flavor is pretty much like cardboard. Won't be buying anymore unless things go back to the original version (they USED to be awesome) - sad :(

The new Quaker Oatmeal Squares are half the size and are rectangular not square as the name states! They are also a lot less sweet and flavorful than they used to be. Please bring back the classic QOS!

Not The Cereal It Used To Be
These are a pale imitation of the Oat Squares I grew up with as a kid in the mid to late 2000s, even compared to what they were a few years ago. They're thinner, taste stale right after opening the bag, are far less dense and less flavorful. They are beyond disappointing. But, what can you expect when products are consistently cheapened and prices are in an ever upward trajectory, all so corporations can have ever increasing profit margins. What's really shameful, is that Americans have now become accustomed to overpriced mediocrity. From this breakfast cereal, to the service you get at a restaurant, nothing but sub-par goods and service.
