(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I am a Foodie and did not bake anything until COVID happened, so I started baking...I have been using my mom's 40 yr old KitchenAid Artisan Mixer and the lock is broken so I have to put both arms on top so the mixer will not bob up and down or fall off the counter, but I LOVED IT and it still got the job done (I now bake sourdough-my starter is 3 yrs old) Well my family bought me a new 5.5 Quart Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer for my birthday (they obviously love my baking) and it is FABULOUS !!! It takes a third the time to do everything now. The bowl is huge so the flour and other ingredient do not end up all over the counter and it has so much power! I am a better and OMG a happier baker now and celebrating my Mom better !!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far much better for making dough. Our previous kitchen aid (tilt head) did not handle pasta dough. The bowl would not stay fixed. The lift bowl is working fine.

This is my third KitchenAid stand mixer in 25 years. While this mixer meets most of my expectations, it could be better. I essentially use this for mixing sourdough bread and need a more powerful mixer. However, the mixing bowl handle is uncomfortable - the handle edges are not smooth, but sharp (almost to where you could cut yourself). The lift handle is all metal and would be greatly improved with a nonslip, rounder handle. While it is quieter than my Pro Lift Stand Mixer, it is not quiet. The faster the speed, the screechier and louder the sound. I’m just glad I didn’t pay full price.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first KitchenAid brand stand mixer and I went with the 5.5 qt. bowl lift model for stability when mixing and the great reviews. It's worked well for my cake mixing and frosting making needs! It has saved me time and frustration with how quick and easy it is to use. My only complaint is the lack of a list of accessories available for my specific model of stand mixer. The website doesn't even list the 5.5 quart model as a search option and there doesn't appear to be any accessories in stock for my mixer. The beautiful accessories and attachments list included with the mixer were for tilt head mixers. (My owners manual is for multiple mixer models.) I know I can call customer service and wait until a rep is available, but I don't have the time or patience for being on hold 15 minutes or more. Honestly, in this digital age I thought it would be would be much easier to get this information. Also, the bottom of the box was not taped at all, but thankfully the outer shipping box was taped on top and bottom!
Save your money and just get a hand mixer instead

This is hands down the most irritating kitchen appliance I’ve ever used, and I’ve struggled to find any good reason for actually using it. If you’re considering buying this, ask yourself why do you actually want a stand mixer? They’re bulky, they’re expensive, they’re incompatible with most bowls and attachments, and they’re objectively worse at mixing than handheld mixers. I know that the couple minutes you spend incorporating batter can feel like forever, but I promise that stopping to look over at the stand mixer every 10 seconds to check that you’re not overmixing (and you will end up overmixing anyway the one time you forget to check) really doesn’t feel any shorter. Even before getting into the design flaws of this specific model, these stand mixers are only worth it if you’re making a ton of dough bc they’re really only useful for kneading and they cost A LOT of money. As far as this design goes, the lever lift enables you to raise and lower the bowl to a whopping 2 different positions! This effectively means that your attachment will either be completely outside of your bowl or scraping the bottom. It also means that you are extremely limited in which attachments you can pair with the bowl as some of them are too large for you to even raise the bowl into position and some are too small where they don’t even come close to reaching the bottom. On top of that, the larger bowls can only fit in when they’re tilted because there is a metal tab in the back that is directly in their way. The attachments aren’t much better either. The default whisk feels like it was engineered so that there’s just enough space between the bars to trap a large quantity of mix but not enough space to actually remove it. Did I mention it’s not dishwasher safe? Those precious 2 minutes you save by being able to walk away during mixing will be more than repaid by the excruciating cleaning. And you won’t just be cleaning the whisk itself. For some reason, the handle of the whisk constantly oxidizes and gives off a black powder residue when you touch it. Why anyone thought this was a good material to use for something in the direct vicinity of food? Beats me, but just know that whenever you touch the whisk handle to readjust (and you’ll have to readjust a lot given how poorly this thing mixes), you will have to wash your hands every single time unless if you want to risk adding black food coloring and a metallic taste to your food. Overall, just don’t buy this thing. I couldn’t design a worse product if I tried.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted to love this mixer but out of the box I have been a bit disappointed. So for as mixing cookies, it did an excellent job. But so far as kneading dough, very disappointing. But I will continue to try to work with it as my old KitchenAid (40 years) is struggling.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received my Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer for Christmas and I have used at at least once every week since! I cannot believe how versatile it is. Makes baking a breeze now, especially breads and pastries. I look forward to every weekend just so I can experiment with recipes. I have also been able to recreate several baked goods my husbands mother and grandmother made for him as a kid! Wish I had got one sooner.
