Q: Hi Been using 8 M Blond for years. Underlying color probably now mostly white. 8 is great at first, but fades quickly to yellowish. Would 7.5A help? Possible to go back to 8 right away if too dark?

  • A: Hi there! If the new growth is mostly white, any color with an ‘ash’ tone will likely look very dull. You have the right idea, do the next touch up with a slightly darker color, however, your best option going darker is to use the dark blonde 7 or dark golden blonde 7G. Once you go darker, you won’t be able to lighten the color using another dye. To be sure the results are not too dark, stick to the Touch Up application and timing. Do the roots for the full 30 minutes but the previously dyed hair should only get the dye mix for the last 10 minutes of your timing.

The Excellence is a permanent haircolor so it can lighten the hair as well as deposit color, but on hair darker than medium brown, the results with this color will be less noticeable. If you don’t’ have gray to cover, use a color with more ‘lift’ to lighten your darker hair enough to see the light auburn results. We would recommend the Feria R68 Ruby Rush.

    Color doesn’t stay the same

    I used to like this product a lot and the color would stay the same till the next dye. But, now after first wash the color just becomes lighter and lighter all the time. I want a product that keeps hair the same color. I will be changing to a different product.

    Terrible

    I tried both preference and excellence hair color. This used to be a good product. Unfortunately, since you changed the way its made, they are both horrible! They fade after the first wash, and with my medium color, I went to a very light brown washed out color in 1 week! Terrible! The color no longer lasts.

    Enjoyed very much

    There are pros and cons

A large tube of conditioner was included which is always a bonus. There was no strong smell to the dye which is always a plus. It's not drying. The cons, I don't feel that it dyed the stubborn gray hairs and as time has gone by my hair has turned lighter.

    Change in a box

It work good at my wisdom streaks coverage.I would and have recommended Excellence by Loreal at home hair dye to my family and friends. I like inches box gives you an added product as a pre treatment for ends of hair. The dye isn't smelly. The conditioner has a good acent. This product leaves hair feeling soft tangled free.

May buy another one just to bring out the color more. I have natural locs and I don’t put chemicals in my hair and this was my first attempt in along time trying out color. No damage no dandruff and no redness of any kind to my hair.

    Not the same as it was.

    I have used Loreal Excellence Creme for years. But the last 2 times I have used it the consistentcy has been very thin and runny compared to thick creme of other times,It runs instead if staying in place.I think I need to find a new product.

    Not as brassy as pictured

    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was nervous that the color would be too bright after seeing the color on the box, but it turned out to be a beautiful light auburn, not as brassy as the box shows. I almost took a star off because the picture on the box was misleading. It was easy to apply with the comb-type attachment on the bottle. After approximately a month, the color hasn't faded and is still beautiful. I would use this again.

    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I mixed up a small amount of the product to do a patch test the day before I planned on coloring my hair, and I had an allergic reaction to the product, so I did not actually use it to color my hair. That’s the only reason I am giving you four stars instead of five, because I don’t know the actual results on my hair. But the consistency of the small amount I mixed up was good, the fragrance was very nice, it was very easy to understand the directions and the packaging was wonderful.

It is very very easy to rinse. It leave a good texture to your hair. And it leaves an amazing shine to the hair. It also leave the hair soft and in good condition.     Beautiful color

    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used Revlon hair dye before so I knew I would like it. My daughter asked if she could try it instead since she liked the color. It was easy to use. It was easy to rinse. She liked how hair felt after using the shampoo and conditioner. Her hair came out beautiful.

    I am extremely dissatisfied and angry. My hair was light brown / medium blonde, and after using L’Oréal Excellence Crème 6.1 it turned nearly black. This is completely misleading and unacceptable. The color result does not match the shade shown on the box at all. Very disappointing from such a well-known brand.

    Works great

    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Loved it! Works great and covered my gray hair perfectly. Didn't leave my hair rough and dry either actually left it feeling nice and soft. Will definitely purchase again
