Motor smells like burnt electrical wiries.
Oster has a problem with the motor always smelling like burnt wires. This is the second Oster blender I've owned in the last 5 years with this problems.

It's nice but didn't last long...
I bought it on Nov 30, 2025 and it worked fine until yesterday. I tried grinding spinach, and it started smelling plastic and smoke started coming out of the bottom. Maybe I blended for a bit longer as it didn't seem to blend, or spinach got stcuk with blades but this wasn't expected. I used again this morning and the strong plastic smell is still there. Cannot return as it has been over 90 days. I don't think I will buy from this brand again.

Fire warning!
What seemed like a great purchase from a trusted brand turned out to be my worst purchase. The blender started producing smoke and gave off a horrible burning smell, even setting off my fire alarm. Do not buy this product. Despite the suspicious 5-star reviews, there are many 1-star reviews reporting the same issue with the motor smoking or overheating. This is a serious safety hazard. I can’t believe it’s still being sold without being recalled. ⚠️

Three speeds just are not enough
The description says this blender has six speeds, but in fact there are only three: low, medium, and high. The other three buttons are Pulse (brief bursts of high speed), and Smoothie and Salsa. The Smoothie and Salsa buttons are not really speeds. They are "programs" that go through cycles of low, medium, and high. There is an art to making a thick smoothie, which I have learned over many years. The key to success is using just the right, moderate, speeds. High speeds throw the ingredients away from the blades and accomplish nothing. The smoothie button on this blender starts with some low-speed pulses, then floors it with the maximum speed. When I blend a smoothie manually with this blender, the medium speed is close, but not quite enough to blend thoroughly. I often wish I could step it up to the next higher speed, as I have with past blenders, but with this blender the only option is the ridiculously high top speed. Also, I have only had the blender a few months and the blade is already loose and leaking around the bearing. I think part of the problem is that the jar does not fit as snugly in the base as it did with other Oster blenders. One trick I have found when making smoothies is to rock the blender gently to help with the mixing, but the loose fit on this blender allows the jar and blade to misalign with the base causing more wear on the blade.
