Color without compromise. Introducing Excellence Universal Nudes, permanent hair color with 100% gray coverage and no ammonia, no parabens, no phthalates, and no mineral oil. Excellence Nudes Ammonia Free Hair Color enhances your natural hair color, with a blend of cool and warm reflects for long-lasting permanent gray coverage. The Triple Care Color Routine results in rich, radiant, natural looking copper hair color and offers 100% gray coverage. The Ammonia Free Hair Dye Caring Color Creme is enriched with Pro-Keratin Complex and caring agents to protect that hair as it colors. After coloring with copper hair dye, follow with the Caring Gentle Shampoo to delicately cleanse the scalp and smooth hair and the Caring Deep Conditioner, infused with Ceramides, to nourish hair without weighing it down.

Instructions vary by shade. Follow the complete instructions included inside the packaging.

How to use for the first time:

Apply All Over. Apply hair color mixture to dry, unwashed hair. Apply color at your root area and through ends until completely saturated.

Leave on for 25 minutes.

Rinse-out until water runs clear.

Condition. Apply enough Color & Shine Conditioner to thoroughly saturate hair and leave on for 2-3 minutes. Rinse.

How to touch up roots:

Touch up root area first. Make ¼” partings through dry, unwashed hair with applicator tip. Apply hair color mixture onto new growth root area only until completely saturated. Leave color on new growth root area for 20 minutes. TIP: For resistant grays, leave on for an additional 5 minutes.

Apply to rest of hair. Apple remaining product to rest of hair to refresh color. Let develop for 5 minutes. Total application time is 25 minutes.

Rinse-out until water runs clear.

Condition. Apply enough Color & Shine Conditioner to thoroughly saturate hair and leave on for 2-3 minutes. Rinse.

What is the difference between L’Oreal Preference and L’Oreal Excellence haircolor?
Preference and Excellence are both permanent hair colors. Excellence is a crème color that provides 100% gray coverage. Preference is a liquid gel color that provides fade-defying, luminous color for up to 8 weeks. For multi-dimensional, salon-inspired results, we recommend using Preference.     7NR Copper is actually Brown

    I have used copper tone box dyes for years and have naturally gold blond hair. Over the past years whenever I buy a box dye in copper it never comes out as such. This one was no different. It came out as a warm brown, like cinnamon, more in the 5 shade. Not at all like the lightness or lift a 7 color should do. Misleading and ineffective product

    7NR (Natural Copper) TURNS HAIR BROWN

    Natural Copper (7NR) turned my natural red hair DARK BROWN. I have been using box dye for years, especially since I started getting grey hairs after pregnancy and I have never had this happen. This also is not my first time using this brand, and this specific shade. I made sure the color cream had the right color code and everything. It is all correct, but now my hair is ruined.     I wanted to give L'Oreal hair dye another try because they have been coming out with a few different ones, I tried them over a year ago with one that they said was ammonia free but it kind of gave me an itchy feeling while I was waiting to wash it off. I've been using a high end at home dye but it is rather very pricey. So glad I gave this Excellence Creme line a try because I love it, will be buying more. I did not feel itchy, the smell is pleasant, and came with a generous amount of shampoo + conditioner. It covers all my grey hair just like the high end dye.

The Universal Nudes range is crafted with a unique blend of reflects to complement a variety of skin tones, but a neutral shade may not always fully counteract very strong brassy undertones on its own. To help achieve a more balanced result, ensure the hair is thoroughly saturated and that you are leaving the color on for the full development time indicated in the instructions, as this allows the pigments to properly neutralize those warmer tones. For future applications, selecting a shade that leans slightly cooler can also help to offset any unwanted orange for a more grounded, earthy brown finish.

    Color is Meh

    I bought the copper color (7NR) and it turned out ok but the color is much less vibrant than what is pictured on the box. For reference I have medium/dark brunette hair

    Natural Brown Bad

    The natural brown looks nothing like the image on the box. I am natural brown so I only got it to cover grays, which dyed my hair black!

We know how disappointing it can be to look forward to a new application of color only to find that your results are not what you expected. There are many reasons why haircolor results can come out too dark. Once you have color-treated hair, we suggest following the touch up application method to achieve optimal results. Otherwise, by doing repeat full head applications, due to the hair's porosity, you are left with a haircolor result that is much darker than what you intended.     VERY damaging

    I really liked this color. It was a little dark at first but similar to the box. The problem is very little gray coverage and it is extremely damaging. I tried every conditioner on the market before I realize it was this hair color that was destroying my hair.

    Best move to L'Oreal ever

    Absolutely love this color! I had done Garnier for years and then they discontinued my color. Their medium neutral brown almost turned my hair black and then with washes turned into a muddy gross color. I was devastated. I never used L’Oreal before and fell in love with the color on this box. Even tho my hair held on to some darkness which I anticipated - it is the most BEAUTIFUL color and in natural light VERY close to the box. I couldn’t be happier. I found the one!
