lever doesn't stay down to toast
I've had this toaster a little over a year and the lever will not stay down when I try to toast my bread. I have to hold the lever down to get it to work. I've tried using all the choices and still doesn't work. i bought one for my daugter and hers seems to be working fine. I just got a bad one.

2 slice toaster
I guess the saying "you get what you pay for" is true. I was a little disappointed with the quality of the toaster being a Cuisinart and their reputation for being of higher quality. That was the main reason that we purchased it. I feel the plastic outside is very cheap and disappointing and its toasting quality isn't that great either.

Doesn’t live up to expectations
This is the worst toaster we have bought in 55 years of our marriage. The dial doesn’t seem to make a difference of where it is set. Set at 3-4 most of the time it comes up untoasted and needs pushed down for a second time. Sometimes one side will come up white and the other almost burned. Moving the dial doesn’t seem to make much of a difference in the doneness of the toast. Do not buy this toaster!

Toasts very dark on a low setting
I have only had the toaster for a few weeks and it’s working okay, but I find that you have to use a very low setting, less than a 3, or the toast gets very dark, almost burnt. Between 2 and 3 isn’t enough but 3 gets pretty well done. Not sure what would happen on a higher setting, haven’t wanted to try it. Also haven’t tried the bagel setting for the same reason. I have an older model and it doesn’t have the same issue which why I bought the same toaster for a second home.

Honestly Disappointing
I like well toasted toast, not burned, but crispy. On the highest setting, my toast comes out at a medium level of toasted at best (sometimes more medium-low). For having 7 setting levels, I find this pretty shocking. Even more so since this was a Wirecutter recommendation. I'm very disappointed and wish I had purchased a different toaster. What are the other 6 settings even for?

I read the reviews saying this doesn’t toast evenly and I honestly just hoped that those ones were duds and I’d get one that wasn’t. Jokes on me - mine doesn’t toast right either. But it’s fine, it does the job just doesn’t do it evenly. I don’t care that much but if you do, I’d buy something else.

I love this toaster!
My Mom and I went on a vacation and they had this toaster in the house we rented. Before owning this I was using an air fryer with a toast option for toasting. It did not work well. This toaster works wonderful. It toasts both side of the bread evenly, quickly and it easy clean up. I like that the crumb tray is located at the back of the machine, so you don't see it.

Flimsy, & mediocre performance,BUT WORTH THE PRICE
It toasts, unevenly; control dial feels about to fall off. This is the third one of this model we’ve owned The first one we sent back immediately because it toasted only one side in one of the slots. Second one did exactly the same but we decided to live with it. I don’t have high hopes for the longevity of this one, but Wirecutter recommends it, all things considered.
