Morton® Clean and Protect® Plus Rust Defense® removes excess iron, giving you better tasting water and helping to reduce rust stains. To continue to see the benefits of Morton Water Softener Salt Pellets, it is recommended that every other month you add between two and four new bags to your tank, depending on the number of people in your household. A: Morton® Clean and Protect™ Plus Rust Defense™ works with a water softener unit as a way to address high iron content in your water supply. This product is not intended for for pouring directly into a toilet tank or into the toilet and used as a toilet scrub.

Delivery/packaging nightmare
I don't know if this product works so I feel badly about reviewing Morton's negatively since this comment is targeted at Target. Shipment and delivery from Target has been a nightmare. It has taken weeks and delivery of 5 bags is still underway. But worse, the bags are often in horrible shape. Handle is useful, but if the bag breaks down and needs to be taped up before delivery in 40%-50% of the cases, there are packaging issues. But the waiting around has been horrible with constant shipment rescheduling. Luckily I have at least two bags to use in my water softener system I just installed. But I truly don't know how I can have these shipped to me consistently. NYC residents just don't use this product much/use water softener systems, so I feel like I can't just walk to my neighborhood hardware store and find it. Customer service helped for shipments that just never made it or were misdelivered, but something is wrong in the logistics system at Target.

I'm completely done with Target - Product is GREAT Target Drive up is not.
Target I cannot tell you how many times I’ve had to go IN to the store after a drive up order because of [insert issue here]. The last time it was bc they gave me onions that were visibly moldy - not a speck or 2, but all over - then when I went to exchange them brought me a second bag that had mold on the onions as well. Nice. Then tried to get me a 3rd - yeah no thanks! I requested my money back… so today I have 4 bags of ripped open water softener salt all over my car. So I have to go back tmrw after work at 5pm on Mother’s Day so I can fit my kids in the car - I get off work late enough now it’s going to be at a minimum 6pm before I even get home after having to return and cleaning this mess out of my car. This isn’t the first -or second- time I’ve had to clean a mess from drive up out of my car - but at least this time it’s not taco dip, eggs, or busted open cleaning products! Thanks Target-but no thanks! I cannot tell you how many times I’ve had to go IN to the store after a drive up order because of [insert issue here]. This is the best water softner salt that I have tried. My water feels soft my skin and hair feel moisturized. My water is clear. I do have an iron filter too so that may help. I also like that the bags are recyclable. My only complaint is I still get iron marks/rust stains. I've tried everything. I think there is just that much iron in our well water.
