Q: There's plastic inside the kettle on the pour spout and strainer. I removed the strainer, but can't get the plastic pour spout off. Is this removable?

The clear material on the water level indicator is made of TPX Polymethylpentene the characteristics are similar to those of traditional polyolefins TPX features superb clarity, transparency, gas permeability, heat and chemical resistance and release qualities. The CPK-17 Teakettle is BPA free. Thank you for your continued interest in Cuisinart products.

Q: Can I use tap water in this kettle?

submitted by Maggie - 1 month ago
  • A: Yes, you can use tap water in the Cuisinart 1.7L PerfecTemp Cordless Electric Kettle (CPK-17P1), but regular descaling is necessary. The stainless-steel interior will handle tap water, but mineral buildup from hard water can affect performance, requiring cleaning to remove scale.

Q: How do you clean the inside. I've tried to scrub with a bottle brush and I can't get between all the crevices. Can't scrub the calcium build up off the bottom either. This is so frustrating. Help.

submitted by Tot mom - 2 months ago
  • A: Because the heating element is hidden under the floor of the kettle, mineral deposits from hard water naturally "bake" onto the bottom and into the tight crevices where a brush can't reach. The most effective, food-safe method is descaling with white vinegar:

Good but not great

It operates well, easily and quickly, but the outside wall becomes too hot to touch, i.e., not properly insulated.

Can't stop the boiling!

We had this model for 4 years before it began acting up. It wouldn't stop boiling, even when the "keep warm" was off and the setting was for 200 degrees. So we bought a new one (basically we like the features). This one we've had only 8 months and it's doing the same thing. I set it to 200 degrees, with no "keep warm" on, push the start button, and pretty soon I hear it beeping. I pour out my water, return the kettle on the element, and it starts to boil. Even pushing the start button to turn the whole thing off doesn't stop the boiling. The only solution has been unplug from the wall. HELP!

Works perfectly as intended!

I’ve been using the Cuisinart Perfect Temp Electric Kettle for a bit now and I honestly really like it. The temperature settings are my favourite feature. It’s nice being able to pick the right temperatue depending on what tea I’m making. The kettle also feels nice and sturdy, not flimsy like some cheaper kettles. The handle is comfortable and it pours cleanly without spilling. Overall I’m really happy with it. If you drink tea a lot, it’s definitely worth it.

Best electric kettle

I love the different temperature options for heating water. Heats quickly and keeps water hot/warm for a long time. Cleaning is a little tricky with big hands, but a bottle brush works great to reach the bottom of the kettle. Another win for cuisinart in my mind.

Great Hot Water maker

I like the compact design and the fresh look. It heats the water nicely and pretty quickly. Would recommend this if you don’t have a built in hot water dispenser.

Beeping is so loud and unneccessary

The beeping is ridiculous and so loud. Why do we need 4-6 loud shrill beeps constantly? Why do the buttons beep when you push them?
1 reply from Product Expert team - 17 days ago
Thank you for sharing your feedback—we understand how the audible alerts on the Cuisinart Perfectemp Electric Kettle can feel excessive. The beeps are built in to provide confirmation of selections and to alert when heating cycles are complete or when safety features engage, and the volume and frequency are not adjustable on this model. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your experience. Thank you—your feedback helps inform usability improvements in future models.

Almost as good as what it replaced

I got this to replace a stove top teakettle that had developed pinhole leaks after five decades. The pour-over coffee setting is very useful--I used to guess when the water had cooled enough and wasn't very good at it. For what it's worth--not much--the time to a boil for my black tea is a little slower, though. What I find hardest to get used to is the handle. My old kettle lifted from directly above; this one lifts from the side, and the torque generated by raising three pounds or so (1.5 liters) of water that way is considerable. The fact that the control buttons are unexpectedly stiff acknowledges this: they allow you to hold the handle close to the top without disturbing the settings, and that helps some. But if you're used to lifting your kettle from above you should be prepared for the difference, and if you have arthritis you may want to consider something else.

Simply the best!

This is a superb device. Replaced our prior one with the same after it finally started leaking after literally multiple x/day use over 14 years. Gets the job done with great capacity, rapid heating (even to boiling), and multiple temperature options for various teas. Our family loves this thing and it’s a true bargain!

Not worth the trouble

I received this as a gift four months ago, now it doesn’t work. It worked fine for a few months, then it would sometimes start flashing and beeping and not work. For a couple of weeks, I tried making sure it was level and secure, wiped down the counter, stand and bottom of kettle and then it would work. Now it happens every time I try to use it and there’s no getting it to work. If you google this problem, you’ll see it’s quite common. This is a kettle, not complicated - it should just work.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience and understand how disappointing it is when an essential appliance doesn’t perform as expected, especially after working well initially. Intermittent flashing and beeping can sometimes be related to contact alignment or base sensor detection, and while you’ve already taken helpful steps, our team can walk through additional troubleshooting options or warranty support. Please contact our Consumer Assistance Center at 1‑800‑726‑0190 so we can assist you further and document your concern under Ticket # 8900620682. Well, it heats water

The kettle does its main job fine, but for the price I expected a whole lot more. The water gage, located inside the handle, is hard to read while filling. It also fills slower than the actual kettle - so if you depend on the gage you'll overfill the kettle. Once you heat the water it gives multiple beeps at a good volume. But your troubles begin there - the default setting on the kettle is "keep warm". So if you pour out all the water, put it back on the stand, and walk away about 5 seconds later it will start rapidly beeping and what liquid is left in the kettle will start boiling away. They only option we've found then is to take it off the stand and wait a few minutes before putting it back on. Overall, I expected it to be far less annoying and high maintenance for the price. Would I buy it again? No.

Different settings for different teas.

I love our new electric tea kettle. It has different timer options for the different types of tea, which is very nice if you drink different kinds. It’s pretty fast too. Plus it looks sharp. The only think is be careful. The outside can get hot. Only touch the handle.

I love this kettle when it works right. 30% of the time it will continue to boil past the setting and even when you turn it off. It will boil dry if you don’t unplug it.

A Perfect assistant

Although originally I bought this kettle for variable temps for my teas [for which it is ideal- no guessing about damaging delicate tea leaves], I have found so many more uses. Especially when I need a pot of boiling water for pasta, etc when preparing dinner. I start the water boiling in the kettle first- so much faster than just water in a pot on the stove. Or some in the pot and some in the kettle. A major time saver if you are like me and in a mad rush to prepare a nice evening meal after work. almost like having a helper in the kitchen! Nice.
