I wonder if people are dying their hair after it's freshly washed and conditioned and that's why they are having a bad experience. You Must Not condition your hair before coloring using a clarifying shampoo. And you should wash hair the day before you dye, not the day of.

Not accurate color
Don't buy the violet dye if you want purple hair, it turned my hair fully red, but other than that it works fine

I've used garnier before BUT this time was different (it's been a good year and some change form my last use). I knew my roots would best take color, and my hair was already lightened BUT WHY IS MY HAIR AND ESP ROOTS RED. The box says intense violet. While I'm not sobbing, I genuinely had a 10 minute crash out thinking it was just the lighting. I even went outside and it was all red. The pro is that it definitely covered and colored my hair. The con is that my hair is RED NOT violet/purple.

believe the reviews...
terrible. i have black hair so according to the intense auburn box, it says black hair will be a dark auburn.. there is NO difference in my hair color. like at all. i shined a flashlight on my hair and it’s still the same exact color. look at the photo!! that’s right after rinsing and with the flash on. NO RED NO AUBURN NO DIFFERENCE!! I even went in the sun and there is zero color difference. what a waste of time and money. and damage to my hair for nothing… i have thick hair so i bought four boxes as i do with any other hair dye to make sure my hair is very saturated for a good color result. i used FOUR BOXES and there’s no difference in my color AT ALL? not even a tint??? i just got scammed and can’t get my money back because the product is used… never again will i give this company my business.. this was literally a scam. how can you advertise it’ll work on black hair then there’s NO DIFFERENCE? i could even justify there being a small tint only… i get it, black hair is hard to dye without stripping. but if your product can’t get the job done then maybe you shouldn’t advertise that it can…. so annoyed and out $40… wack. I WISH I READ THE REVIEWS FIRST

Amazing dye with an important catch
I first bought this dye in October to cover some stubborn blue tones, and on very light blonde hair, it came out beautifully I really love the color. That said, the box is a bit misleading. When my natural dirty blonde roots grew in, the dye didn’t show up nearly as vibrant on the slightly darker sections, creating a noticeable difference. After bleaching my roots and reapplying, the color turned out much more even and true to expectation. Overall, this is a great dye, but you’ll only get the purple shade shown if your hair is light blonde. Darker hair won’t take the color the same way without bleaching first.

I bought the “dark intense violet” but it actually came out a very bright red instead. And no, there were no other chemicals in my hair it could have been reacting with. I’m not sure if it was just mislabeled or what, but your dye could be for a very different color than you think!
