Q: This is a comment. I was beyond frustrated when my daughter went to clean out the hamster cage with the new dawn and I got really sick. Autoimmune issues. We've used Dawn for all cleaning for 24 yrs. New scent is not working.

A: Just opened a new bottle today, didn’t know they changed the scent. While I didn’t use enough to make me sick or anything, the new scent is truly horrible so it’s time to change brands, I can’t remember a time I didn’t use Dawn so this is a true bummer. First Tide went to crap now Dawn, I guess everything is just going down hill from here.

I am so bummed that Dawn is the latest in a long, long line of companies that has decided it's better for them to completely alienate their loyal customers in order to save a few pennies per bottle. The new scent is truly atrocious and I will be buying a different dish soap from here on out. Let me know if you ever decide to change it back!

However, the new scent is absolutely awful and after 20 years of using your product exclusively I'm switching away and I refuse to buy Dawn unless you bring back the original scent. Way to tank your product.

The new Dawn scent is disgusting, I’m looking for other dish soaps to use even though I had been using this for decades. It wasn’t broken, you shouldn’t have “fixed” it. How much did you pay the guy who made this formula change decision? Have you paid any attention to all of the negative reviews around the internet? I’ll come back to Dawn, but only if the original scent is brought back. What you should have done is come out with a new scent to add to your line if you felt it was needed, you should not have changed such an iconic product that I’m sure is the cornerstone of this brand since it is the “Original.”

I can’t use this due to the scent. For years, the only dish soap that hasn’t made me nauseous is origini blue dawn. Now that has been changed. Also, the change wasn’t noted on the packaging. Very disappointed.

Thanks, Joe, for picking up a Dawn Platinum Powerwash Dish Spray Refill, and using your previously purchased sprayer to dispense the product. We're sorry to learn that your sprayer's not working now. It might help to know that our Quality Team shares that each sprayer should last around 5 bottles. After 4-6 bottles, it's not unusual for the sprayer to need to be replaced. When you move the sprayer to a new refill bottle, be sure that the dip tube’s facing the same direction as the nozzle. Note that the tube bends. The bottom of it should be facing the same way as the nozzle. Speaking of the nozzle, check that it’s not clogged. If it is, run warm water over the nozzle for a few minutes to loosen any clogs that may have occurred. Let us know if this helps, by calling us any Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 6 PM, EST. The old formula was much better. I don’t see the 50%less scrubbing. If anything, it rinses out of the sponge twice as fast. Meaning more soap per washing session, which equals buying more soap, which seems like less benefit for me. Previous formula all the way.

I disagree with a lot of people about the scent, the new scent is more refreshing and not so perfumed like before. I actually avoided dawn for years and bought Palmolive instead and now with the new scent it reminds me a lot of the Palmolive oxy which I love. So in the past 6 months I have found myself buying many dawn products when I never did before.

I've been using Dawn for 13 years and before that my mom always used it. I won't buy it again unless they change the scent back. This new scent is awful and makes my dishes taste like soap residue. I'm not sure what drove the decision to change a perfectly good product but if they were trying to save money, good luck, because it seems like a lot of other people don't like the new scent either.

Just bought new bottle of original Dawn. Why change the scent to a smell? It stays with you long after use with a sickening sweet smell on my hands. I find it unusable, will throw out and replace with another brand.

Can I give it zero stars? Because I would. The new scent is absolutely DISGUSTING. Not only that I can quite literally taste the soap on my dishes now many how good I rinse it off. Switching to a new brand!

This is the first scent change for Dawn Original in over 10 years, but please be assured that we value your feedback greatly and are sharing it with the rest of our Dawn Team. Consumer feedback is vital in helping us improve our products and ensuring that we deliver the best possible experience to our consumers; it’s also instrumental in guiding the Dawn Team as they continue to work on future innovations. In regard to the scent lingering and affecting your taste, we wouldn't expect this to be your experience, however, if the soap isn't completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have become porous, it is possible. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous and should be washed by hand. It might help to know that cast iron and plastic items can absorb flavors. To remove the scent/taste, please soak the dishes in hot water with some distilled white vinegar added.
