These Rubbermaid Roughneck storage bins are more sturdy than the competition. They do not crack and can tolerate temperature extremes. The lids do not form an air-tight seal, but they do keep the dust off the contents. This 31-gallon version is very large and might not fit on shelving units.

I returned these bins. The lids did not fit securely onto the bins. I have other Rubbermaid bins I bought from Target and those lids fit securely. The most recent purchase — the lids were just a bit bigger, so maybe I got the wrong lids.

A+ for moving and not unpacking, garage org, + much more
Such a winner for those of us who move or bulk clean a messy house in a state of frenzied procrastination without really organizing first (like we always say we will next time) and then end up not unpacking for a ridiculously long time, until there's something we absolutely need that we can't find and just know is inside one of these giant tupperwares. They keep things looking calm, chic, and organized from the outside, at least if you stack them nicely wherever you put them. The gray color is soothing and modern, concealing the chaos until you're ready to deal with it. They seem spendy, but end up being cheaper than moving boxes if you consider how much they fit and that they can be used over and over again for many different purposes - bathing your fast-moving, water-averse small/med sized dog in a manageably contained space, camping storage &/or shower tub, garage organization, etc. I even made a small batch of garage wine in one of these, with two small 2-gallon buckets fitting nicely inside holding the juice, and easily drilled a couple of small holes in the lid for ventilation. As you can see, the possibilities are endless. At $20 a pop I wouldn't run out and buy a ton of them, but used sparingly they are awesome. Much better than those tacky black and yellow ones IMO.

Lid issues!?
I can live with the fact that these are made thinner, because it seems quality is lacking in everything these days. However, the lids are horrible. One side snaps down (you can actually hear it snap), and the other side doesn't. It just kind of sits on top of the handle (no snap noise like the other). I'm not sure if it's the lid or the tote that's the problem. No matter which way the lid, or the tote, is turned, one side snaps, and the other doesn't. Is it the lid or the tote? I'm confused. These are too big and bulky to return, so I guess I'll just learn to live with it. Not happy though. The company needs to look into the quality of the lids...or the tote.
