A: Hello iReview! CeraVe, does not use any ingredient from rare or endangered animal species, nor any ingredient of porcine, bovine or ovine origin; except lanolin (which is taken from live sheep). We use derivatives of raw materials of animal origin in restricted quantities, such as honey, beeswax, lanolin, as well as fish derivatives and poultry egg derivatives.

At first I really liked this shampoo but after a few months of usage my scalp is very itchy and has developed patches of eczema on my scalp. Also lost a significant amount of hair which is scary. Switching back to my old shampoo.

I wish I saw the reviews warning that it causes hair loss. I was wondering why my hair has been thinning as I’ve changed nothing in my routine but this.

Hello N8 Based on many years of experience and all available technical resources, we have no reason to believe that CeraVe Anti-Dandruff Scalp Care Shampoo 12 fl oz can cause hair loss. Hair loss can be caused by many things: illness, medication, lack of sufficient vitamins, diet, and stress. We also have an increasing loss of hair as we age. Male pattern hair loss and androgenic alopecia is considered to be hereditary. It is estimated the average head has between 90,000 and 140,000 hairs. Normally we lose 40-100 hairs a day. If you have a sudden and unusual amount of hair loss, we suggest you consult your physician because only a medical professional is qualified to diagnose and advise you.

Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate is the cleanser that a dermatologist that created this recommended?? It's more harsh than regular sulfate. In fact, it has a sensitivity warning. Over stripping scalp can make sub derm worse...thanks for that. Look it up. It makes my scalp crack and bleed no matter what brand it is. Had a severe reaction. At least they didn't use betaines, but still much SAFER cleansers. I expected more from CeraVe. Both the conditioners are amazing, but wish they put as much thought into the shampoos. I use only CeraVe for my skin care as it helps my sub derm so much, but this makes it so much worse for my scalp. Please reformulate....

Holy grail of dandruff shampoos. I have had dandruff my entire teen/adult life (now 40). I’ve tried everything, every active and all the brands and weird diy hacks. Finally a minimal and effective line up of products for the hair and my scalp is no longer itchy since switching to the cereve line (using dandruff shampoo and conditioner intermittently with their hydrating shampoo and conditioner). I’ve had 2 haircuts now with virtually no flakes on the black cape.. never experienced that before. Highly recommend giving these a try

I don't normally run to reviews, but ... here I am. I was in the midst of a bad seborrheic dermatitis flare up. I normally use a steroid on my scalp, but have been looking for something to use in the recent I don't have a current Rx or want to use it. This shampoo cleared up my flakes and after washing, I was not (embarrassingly) digging at my head all day. This was after one wash. The scent is very subtle and pleasant. The texture is great with a moderate amount of slip and good lather. For anyone wondering, I have thick, 4a/4b curly hair.

It just dried my scalp out more. I wanted to try it because of its cerave and it should be good quality stuff but it just dried me out and I’m more flaky now. I’ll stick to nizoral.

My Fiancé was struggling with dandruff for a while and for the past 2 years he had been using normal dandruff shampoos but the problem started to worsen recently. He was trying everything he could. I always loved CeraVe’s face products and when I saw this one, I knew he had to try it. This is the least amount of dandruff either of us have seen from him!! Dealing with dandruff can really affect your confidence but now his hair is better than even before. I highly recommend this product if you struggle with dandruff. He only had to use it a few times before seeing results.

I lost half my head of hair from using this and the conditioner, giant clumps of my hair would fall out every time I ran my fingers through it, my bathtub was filled with clumps of my hair, and my hair has been noticeably thinner ever since. I switched back to head & shoulders and the loss has slowed. This product SUCKS.
