Kids had fun, but flimsy and messy
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The most important thing is that my kids had a lot of fun, and they want more National Geographic kits (this was actually not their first). These kits are a HUGE mess, though, which is a nightmare for parents. Dust and debris goes everywhere from the dig, and it's hard to clean up. The tool included wasn't great, but it worked. We bought a National Geographic geology kit months ago that came with better tools, and I wish we had hung onto them. Note that the plastic T-Rex bones are incredibly flimsy and break easily. You can turn it into a real lesson that real fossils are also delicate, but two of our pieces broke: an arm during excavation and the jaw hinge while building the pieces. I actually accidentally broke the jaw hinge, and I wasn't applying very much pressure. The plastic is just poor quality. The educational material inside was informative. My kids were too excited about the Dino dig to pay much attention, but I learned something reading it to them. Overall, it was a great science project for a day. Kids love these. Parents beware the mess! It easily would have been 5 stars if the plastic wasn't so cheap and easily breakable.

Fun Trex dig kit with moveable model
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is so fun! I took it to my classroom for my students to explore! We had so much fun taking turns to dig out the dinosaur bones. We learned so much about fossils and dinosaurs from the information outside. Once we got out all of the bones and cleaned them, we were able to put the bones together to make the awesome model, which has moving arms, legs, and jaw making it such a fun keepsake to play with! I totally recommend this kit kids and even adults will have a great time exploring and learning!

Good Family Product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a great family product. I wish it had come with a tray to contain the mess and a hammer instead of a brush tool. I did this with my preschooler but an older child could have done it by themselves. I also really liked the booklet that came with it. Thanks to Influenster and National Geographic for the gifted product. All opinions are my own.

Nice product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product complimentary for my review. This product was very fun for my kids! They are asked for another one now. It took them about an hour to do the “dig”. The product then becomes a 3D model. I think this is a good value. I like this product!

Fun activity for the kids
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This dig kit was such a fun activity, it was packaged nicely so nothing was broken and easy to remove from Box. My kid love dinosaurs, once we “discovered” the fossil in the yard he was obsessed with uncovering it. It also came with a tool to use to dig which was also super useful and handy. It was a cool thing to do that don’t take a long time, great to by pass sometime, and the product also is really durable, everything worked as it should once cleaned.

My child had a blast! A fun, engaging, and educati
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kods absolutly loved this National Geographic dig kit. It kept them busy and exited to the whole time. The instructions were very easy to follow, so they could do most of it on their own without needing much help. It does get a bit messy with all the dust and debris.

Makes a great gift for Dino fans 👍🏻
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the National Geographic Tyrannosaurus Rex Dig Kit in exchange for my honest opinion. My kid loves dinosaurs and this kit was a super hit with him. He enjoyed digging through the kit and was excited to discover TRex skeletons. My one complaint would be the dig tool , it could have been bigger as it was time consuming to use the small tool in the kit. It was easy to put together the pieces into a Tyrannosaurus skeleton and it’s nice to play with. I can’t wait to explore other dig kits in the collection. This one will make a great gift for kids.

It's a love from the kids
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from Influenster and National Geographics in exchange for my honest review. Overall I think this is a great kit. I expected this to be a cute 5 minute activity but ended up being much more involved - in a good way. The excavation block is quite solid which I suggest wetting with water and letting it sit a few minutes before getting started. This little dig took over an hour, and would have taken much longer if I had not implemented some of our own tools to speed things up. I definitely recommend doing this kit outside as the base is made of chalk like material that turns to dust, flying through the air. By the end of it all we were covered in dust. The actual dinosaur that you end up with is actually great quality, and made my kids happy. One complaint I have about the kit is that they give you the tiniest brush and pick. If we had only used that we would be there for days. You really need better tools to speed things along. At the end of it all my kids loved it and were still talking about it the next day. Me and my husband definitely think this kit was worth it.

Tactile paleontology: a hands on stem deep dive in
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I find that the National Geographic T. rex dig kit provides a surprisingly sophisticated entry point into the principles of field paleontology and skeletal anatomy. This isn’t just a toy, it’s a structure tactile exercise in patience and precision. The kit centers around a substantial dig brick that houses ten replica T. rex bones requiring the user to employ the included chisel and brush tools to carefully excavate the specimens without causing structural damage, a direct simulation of the delicate work required in actual fossil recovery.

Great toy all around!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very fun toy for kids! My daughter is almost 5 and she absolutely loved this! She was so excited everytime she uncovered pieces of the bones. She even enjoyed brushing them off to reveal them. At first I assumed it was a block of actual dirt but no, it is clay or some type of plaster material. It took her a while to finish it but she did and enjoyed every second of it. It was tough at first but I added some water and let it soak which made it so much easier. The packaging is very high quality as is the product. The tool given was a little hard to use so I ended up letting her use a spoon. Great attention grabbing activity that made my child forget all about tv or a tablet! I would say it is well worth the value. It can get a little messy but I used a tablecloth. If it wasnt raining we would have been outside. She also enjoyed building when the model was finished. I assume older kids would finish this with much more ease but she loved it and wouldnt stop until it was finished. The model is also posable which is awesome! Once again, great toy!!
