One main difference is that the Vertuo has a locking mechanism for the 'head' of the machine, that you have to manually lock and unlock, while the VertuoPlus has a lever you tap up to open and tap down to close automatically. A: The nespresso original line has other brands of espresso but only espresso. The vertuo line does espresso, double espresso, lungo, coffee, etc. but only nespresso brand and Starbucks. That being said they do have a lot of options.
