Defective
Item does not work. With first use, the can opener didn't latch properly. After getting it to do so, it wouldn't spin unless the handle was jiggled frequently. As of recent, it will not latch onto a can at all , no matter what I do, and is totally useless.

The Only Thing It Cuts Is My Power
I purchased this specifically to avoid the "lid-slipping" issues common with cheaper openers, hoping for the reliability of an old-school 70s-style opener. Unfortunately, this has been a constant disappointment. It gets used 1-2x per week at most and when put into action it'll rarely complete a full rotation; it typically cuts less than half an inch before stopping. You have to constantly "finesse" the lever just to get it to engage again, making a simple task much more difficult than it needs to be. Most recently, the unit has begun tripping the GFCI outlet in our kitchen during use. While I am well out of the warranty period, a can opener should not be causing an electrical fault.

Embarrassed customer
SCO-60 Deluxe Stainless Steel can opener was bought 9 days ago only to stat opening a can with pride because I was showing off on my daughter how beautiful it looked, only to realize the can was not sticking to that magnet and the lever fell off. The black plastic thing that supposedly to keep the leaver in place was broken at one end. So embarrassed, I tried to gently hold it in place and tried to cut the can again, the sharp edge pierced the can but could not cut it around. I delicately pressed the leaver, hoping the magnet would hold it, surprisingly the entire leaver and can fell. That small plastic piece that should be holding the leaver in place just separated itself from the steel. One question, if you wanted durability, why did you use that little piece of plastic to hold the leaver in place instead of using a piece of the steel or a much harder plastic? I just replaced on of your can opener that I had for over 17 years. I’m so surprised of the frailty of this beautiful piece. I would certainly appreciate a replacement. I know your projects can be good, but this one caught me by surprise.

Cuisinart Can Opener model SCO-60
Don't buy this. The reviews are wrong. It's fails to grip the can. The mechanism that holds the can to the unit is made out of plastic. Plastic! Buying a replacement cutter will accomplish nothing.
