Description
Sensodyne Sensitivity & Gum Whitening toothpaste is a dual action toothpaste that's specifically designed to help people who have both sensitivity and early gum problems. With its low abrasion formula, Sensodyne Sensitivity & Gum Whitening is formulated to relieve tooth sensitivity and improve gum health at the same time. Common triggers for tooth sensitivity might include cold food or drinks, hot food or drinks, sugary or sour foods, or breathing in cold air. Gum problems can go hand-in-hand with tooth sensitivity. Sensodyne Sensitivity & Gum builds a protective layer over sensitive areas of the teeth, while targeting and removing plaque bacteria to help reduce swollen, bleeding gums. Plus, it works to gently whiten teeth over time. You can take control of both sensitivity and gum problems with one specialized toothpaste.

Do not use - causes blisters in mouth
This toothpaste caused extremely sore red lumps and blisters on my tongue and my gums got swollen and extremely sensitive - I saw people have been leaving similar reviews for many years on this website but sensodyne has not done anything to fix the issue - DO NOT BUY THIS TOOTHPASTE

My Favorite Sensitive Toothpaste
There are so many options for sensitive toothpaste. Sensodyne is far superior in helping with sensitive teeth. Sensitivity and Gum (with red on label) works best for me.

Retracting gums
I have been using this toothpaste for about 6 months and yes, it reduced sensitivity but my teeth are suffering. I feel like my gums are shrinking and leaving gaping spacing between my teeth. What?!? This is the only thing I have changed besides eating more fruits and vegetables to be more healthy. I am puzzled but I am stopping use until I see a dentist.

My teeth hurt on contact with this stuff
I have used many sensodyne before and this one for some reason caused irritation as soon as i put it in my mouth. I just went through the reviews and it looks like i'm not alone, sorted by "most recent" and all the reviews in the past year were one star. Are we having a bad batch? I am going to stop using it immediately and consult my dentist.

Not good
Beware- this one has sodium laurel sulfate sls, and potassium nitrite. The potassium nitrate is used to numb sensitivity BUT for too many people it causes ache teeth and plus ringing in the ears, I’m glad I figured it out

SLS
This has sodium laurel sulfate which causes canker sore. It is a nice toothpaste, but I am prone to canker sores when using that ingredient so it is not worth it to me.

Great Toothpaste!
I have been using this toothpaste for years. Works great for reducing my sensitivity, especially for eating cold items. I have not noticed my teeth whitening, but this doesn't bother me. The protection against sensitivity is well worth it.

Awful taste
This Sensitivity and Gum variant of Sensodyne is the worst tasting toothpaste I've ever had. It has an awful bitter aftertaste. I could never bring myself to using it more than 1 day consecutively, so I never got to the level of experiencing canker sores that other reviewers mentioned. I do enjoy the Sensodyne Extra Whitening variant and don't have side effects like other whitening toothpastes (allergic cough). Sensitivity and Gum totally misses the mark unfortunately.

Worth its weight in ice cream
I had tried a few different toothpastes for my sensitive teeth including sensodyne! My dentist recommended this specific one and it was literally life changing! After about one week I could eat food of varying temperatures again without wincing! I am beyond thrilled.

Causes Canker Sores
This unfortunately caused a lot of canker sores about 2 days after I started using this. I’ve never had any issues with Sensodyne before, but this one will be tossed out.

Made my gum irritated so bad
This toothpaste make my gum irritated so bad. First few days, my gum was very sensitive but I dont think anything about this toothpaste. A few days after, it got worse, my gum swollen and have a lot small sore around gums and under tongue. I went to urgent care and found out this happened because of the toothpaste. My mom and my brother also feel their gums more sensitive after using this few days. Very disappointed about this product

Trash
I recently switched to the Sensitivity & Gum due to sensitive teeth. Within a day a layer of skin peeled off from my lips and I developed tingling to my mouth and tongue and then small blisters. Do not use this product!

Cause sloughing
My mouth is sensitive and prone to peeling/sloughing. The detergent used in this toothpaste called sodium laurel sulfate (SLS) causes skin to slough off, and for me it was occurring every morning when I would wake up, I would have skin peeling off the inside of my lips. It started happening between my bottom lips and my gums when I nearly finished my second tube. I ended up finding a new brand of toothpaste that works better for me, one containing no SLS but instead uses cocoamidopropyl-betaine (CAPB). I haven’t have that problem since switching to a new toothpaste. (:

Great toothpaste, annoying side effect
Good toothpaste, but look out for side effects. I've switched between a few whitening toothpastes and only the Sensodyne brand seems to have this effect on me. A few minutes after using this toothpaste, a layer of skin from the inside of my mouth peels off, at first I thought it was just the toothpaste coagulating my spit, but then I spat some out and realised that it's a thin layer of skin. Rubbing my tongue along the inside of my mouth between my bottom teeth and bottom lip can actually remove the skin after bushing. After repeated use, the inside of my mouth becomes irritated and sore. At first it only happened if I brushed with the Whitening toothpaste for 2-3 days consecutively, but now, a single brushing has this effect. I haven't read about anyone else having this side effect and the toothpaste seems to work great otherwise, so I thought I would share it in case I'm not alone.
