Disaster and Disappointment
I was excited to get this Lego set because it looks like a portable radio that my mom gave me in 1955! (Not 1970). But from the beginning I had trouble with the build and had a bad feeling about it, so I was VERY careful not to make any mistakes. But when I got to the side panels, they didn’t fit, so I tried scotch tape and meant to settle for display only, since I had already spent so much time on it. But it still didn’t look good, so I decided to return it after all. Nor does it work because of s gap inside. Photos included.

We’re sorry to hear you’re experiencing issues with your build. You might want to try the LEGO Builder app for the 3D version of the instructions to catch smaller details. You'll want to make sure that each part is positioned exactly as shown in the instructions and that everything is pressed together firmly (except the gears, which need some extra room to turn). If you’d like a hand troubleshooting the build, feel free to reach out at LEGO.com/Service, we’re happy to help!

This is an amazing Lego set. It has a sound bite in it so it actually plays a little music and some audio. And you can put your phone inside and actually play music from your phone. Very retro looking and fun.

Rockin' Radio?
This was actually a really fun build, despite some issues. A couple small pieces came loose with another part of the build - nothing that a pair of tweezers and a steady hand couldn't take care of. The colors are great and I felt like the king of the world when I got the functions to work. I did have to call in the husband for help on a few things. We had to rebuild the right knob a few times and it took us a while to get the black back flush with the rest of the radio. I finished up by placing the power brick and replacing the black back, which, refused to click in all the way, affecting the function of the same dial/knob. But it was a heckuva lot of fun to put together and looks great. Also, we have been unable to get the power-brick to make sound, although we tested before placing it and it worked. But - when I opened the bags of pieces, the power-brick was just floating in there among the other bricks and the box that was obviously supposed to hold it was empty except for the white stretchy band. We will keep working on it, trying to get the back flush and work on the power chip. In the interim, we have it on display - great looking retro radio! Fun for spouses to do together! Fun build in general. And who doesn't like a challenge?

That isn't the experience we wanted for you! It must be frustrating for your LEGO® Icons Retro Radio set not to play after putting it together. We'd suggest double-checking your build or consider rebuilding your set. There may be a piece/pieces slight off from where it's meant to be and make sure to press each piece together tightly! Please reach out to us at LEGO.build/Service-BV so we can help you troubleshoot your build!

Retro radio
I first purchased this radio for one of my Grandsons at Christmas time. We absolutely loved the look and how it played music, so much so, that my Granddaughter wanted one along with myself. We LOVE it. Thank you so much lego. Keep them coming.

Disaster guidebook
The guide is a complete failure for one specific reason: it requires the SoundBrick to be installed last. This means that if anything, absolutely anything, goes wrong during the entire construction process, you'll have to dismantle the entire building to get the radio to work. This is because if you try to build just that specific area—other parts will fall off, and you won't know where they are, and you have to try building it all over again—it's an absolutely frustrating experience. This soundbrick should be installed first, as much as possible, and only then, once it's working properly, should the guide

Never Again!
I hated this set so much! Where do I begin?!? Setting up the gears for the knobs we’re not explained clearly. So the On/Off switch initially would not work. You have to be incredibly precise with placement of the rubber gear. After that, I put together the tuning side of the radio and once completed, when you turn the dial to the right the tuning scale goes to the left. I disassembled 75% of the set to see if I made a mistake only to confirm that I wasn’t incorrect instead the instructions are incorrect. The final fury I experienced was attaching the sides correctly to the radio. The sides are too fragile and they are not sturdy enough to snap on. I am very upset that I spent the money I did on this set.

Cool set
I honestly loved building this set! The final product is such a great idea, and I love that it includes a phone holder so you can play music and make others think it’s real. 😊 That said, I do wish the back were a little steadier, but overall it’s a beautiful and creative piece!
