Refreshing to have a clean product
Using this has been made me happy to do sheets and towels again. After my daughter’s eczema flared I stopped using anything scented and I missed my softeners but this has kept our linens soft and fresh without flaring her skin.

I have bought twice in the last 4 months and it’s terrible. It’s real thick like pancake mix slow running out of bottleOnce put in washer it doesn’t even dissolve In fabric dispenser, still clumpy . What’s going on ? I’ve always bought this and never had a problem!Last 2 times i bought it , was awlful!

We appreciate you saying you never had a problem with it before, but this is definitely not the type of experience we want you to go through. It sounds like your Downy Free & Gentle may have become thick due to exposure to extreme temperature - normally linked to store's storage method, either hot or cold. This can happen when the product is stored in conditions that are not ideal (it also happens if the product is past the shelf life.) Here are some key points to consider: - Thick Consistency: Liquid laundry detergents, including fabric softeners, can become thicker if they are exposed to extreme temperatures. However, it is still safe to use the product. - Returning to Normal: The product should return to its normal consistency when it reaches room temperature. - Storage Recommendations: For best results, it is recommended to store detergents in a cool, dry place and to use them within 18 months of production. If the product does not return to normal consistency after being at room temperature, it may be best to discontinue use. New bottle cap design = new watery product !!!!
With the updated bottle cap design, I've noticed a significant dilution in this product. As a result, I will be switching to a non Proctor and Gamble product when I next purchase fabric softener. I'm old enough to remember when "ultra concentrated" way back when and started putting the product in smaller bottles.

We're so sorry to hear you had this experience with our Downy Free & Gentle Liquid Fabric Softener. It must upsetting that liquid does not have the consistency you expected. We understand that scent is very subjective, but this is not the type of experience we want you to go through. We have strict quality controls and it’s unusual for a package to leave our plant with less than the proper amount of product in it. Also, the product has been updated to meet the needs of HE users and to improve dispensing into the rinse. We changed the consistency of the product, making it thinner so that it dispenses properly in HE machines. Downy is still safe for use in all washing machines, but will appear thinner and a slightly different color than previous Downy. This is in response to a common complaint that Downy was leaving residue behind in the dispenser and the new product flows easier from the dispenser to the rinse. Downy is the GOAT
I ONLY use this fabric softener for me and my children's clothes. I have extremely sensitive skin and this fabric softener passes the softness test and feels clean. I don't ever feel like my clothes have a gross layer of film on them like some fabric softeners. This fits the bill for everything I need! It also leaves my clothes looking fresh and not full of static! The packaging also is nice as it comes in different sizes for different needs. It looks clean and professional!
