Hair comes out darker than box color
Absolutely will never buy this again. Turned my hair jet black. I'm not sure what loreal thinks flattering for your complexion means but universal nudes shows a brown on the box and that is not what happened to my existing brown, with some grays, hair Nope do not recommend

The color isn't right.
The color isn't right. My hair turned out black, and I applied shade 5N Natural Brown.

Hi Leydi! We apologize that Excellence Universal Nudes 5N-Natural Brown looks darker that intended. There are many reasons why haircolor results can come out too dark. The most common reason is due to the hair's porosity, you are left with a result that is much darker than intended. Over time as you shampoo it will become lighter. When it is time to color again, choose a lighter shade and follow the instructions for a root touch application.

7NR Copper is actually Brown
I have used copper tone box dyes for years and have naturally gold blond hair. Over the past years whenever I buy a box dye in copper it never comes out as such. This one was no different. It came out as a warm brown, like cinnamon, more in the 5 shade. Not at all like the lightness or lift a 7 color should do. Misleading and ineffective product

Love that this has NO AMMONIA. Why can’t you remove the AMMONIA FROM YOUR OTHER haircolor products???

7NR (Natural Copper) TURNS HAIR BROWN
Natural Copper (7NR) turned my natural red hair DARK BROWN. I have been using box dye for years, especially since I started getting grey hairs after pregnancy and I have never had this happen. This also is not my first time using this brand, and this specific shade. I made sure the color cream had the right color code and everything. It is all correct, but now my hair is ruined. I am FURIOUS.

Great product
I wanted to give L'Oreal hair dye another try because they have been coming out with a few different ones, I tried them over a year ago with one that they said was ammonia free but it kind of gave me an itchy feeling while I was waiting to wash it off. I've been using a high end at home dye but it is rather very pricey. So glad I gave this Excellence Creme line a try because I love it, will be buying more. I did not feel itchy, the smell is pleasant, and came with a generous amount of shampoo + conditioner. It covers all my grey hair just like the high end dye.

It’s a nice color but doesn’t come out like the picture… it’s more of a orange undertone
1 reply from L'OrealParisProductExpert team - 4 months ago
Hello Jenny! It is wonderful to hear that you liked the richness of the Natural Brown shade, though we understand it can be frustrating when the final result reveals more warmth than expected. When coloring hair, the underlying pigments—which are naturally orange or red in darker bases—can sometimes become more visible during the process, especially if the hair has a natural tendency to pull warm. The Universal Nudes range is crafted with a unique blend of reflects to complement a variety of skin tones, but a neutral shade may not always fully counteract very strong brassy undertones on its own. To help achieve a more balanced result, ensure the hair is thoroughly saturated and that you are leaving the color on for the full development time indicated in the instructions, as this allows the pigments to properly neutralize those warmer tones. For future applications, selecting a shade that leans slightly cooler can also help to offset any unwanted orange for a more grounded, earthy brown finish.

Very Disappointed. Hair is almost black.
The color on the box is very misleading. I have used other L'Oreal hair dye products and have always been very happy with the results. I wanted to try anothe L'Oreal product. I used 5N and my hair looks almost black. It was a light to medium brown before I dyed it. I will never use the L'Oreal color preference again and will not recommend to anyone.

Hi MSM2713! We apologize you were not satisfied with the results you achieved with Excellence Universal Nudes Brown 5N. We know how disappointing it can be to look forward to a new application of color only to find that your results are not what you expected. There are many reasons why haircolor results can come out too dark. Once you have color-treated hair, we suggest following the touch up application method to achieve optimal results. Otherwise, by doing full head application, due to the porosity of the color-treated hair, you are left with a haircolor result that is much darker than intended. The color will fade as you shampoo. We appreciate the feedback which will be shared with others in our company.

INCORRECT PRODUCT INFO:
***INCORRECT PRODUCT INFO:*** Loreal Hair Color "Nudes Collection" incorrectly lists 6N as "Light Blonde" when it's actually "Light Brown" - as is written on packaging in photo - as the models hair color on the box is clearly a light brown. (or perhaps a dark blonde but definitely not light blonde) Please correct. Thank you.

Hello there! Thank you very much for bringing this detailed observation to our attention regarding the Universal Nudes Ammonia Free Permanent Hair Color, specifically the shade 6N. We truly appreciate you taking the time to point out this potential discrepancy in the product information. We understand how crucial accurate shade descriptions are, especially when selecting a hair color. I LOVE this product
I used 6N - natural light brown. I've used Excellence & Preference before, but this was the first time I saw the Nudes collection. I love everything about it. It smelled great, I love the shampoo and conditioner. (I wish they'd sell that separately) My natural color is lt. brown with about 30% gray. This covered my grays well, except a few at my temple, but that looks natural. My hair turned out only slightly darker than light brown. I've been coloring my hair for decades. I know that I always need to use a color lighter than what I want. To get light brown, I usually have to use dark blonde. Not just with Loreal, with other brands as well. If my hair comes out too dark, I found using Head and Shoulders Apple Cider Vinegar shampoo lighten it within 2 or 3 washes but doesn't damage my hair like color removers do. I intend to keep using this product - my hair feels softer than when I used products with ammonia.

Lovely Natural
I changed from a light 8.5 Ash Blonde to the Naturals 8N. It is a much better color for me.I know, because I've been getting compliments! I have been coloring my Hair with L'Oreal for about 20 years, and I have never been disappointed.
