    I really wanted to like the L’Oréal Color Sonic and this was a gift for my birthday, but this product is absolutely useless when it comes to covering gray hair. The device itself might be a good idea and the technology behind the applicator seems promising, but the hair color cartridges simply do not work. They do not cover gray hair at all. I tried this twice to make sure it wasn’t user error. • First, I used shade 5G. • Then I gave it a second chance and tried shade 5. The results were exactly the same both times: less than 10% gray coverage — honestly, probably not even 5%. It looks as if I applied nothing at all. I’m attaching photos so you can clearly see the results. My gray hair is still completely visible, unchanged, and uncovered. This product did absolutely nothing. For the price and the hype, this is extremely disappointing. A good machine means nothing if the color itself doesn’t work. I would not recommend this product to anyone, especially if gray coverage is your goal.

    I'm worth it but price of color isn't

    Had been going to a salon & paying the high prices for color & didn't feel like it was worth that much money, so decided to do it myself. This color seemed to match my own but once applied didn't see much difference. The grays were definitely not colored & my feel like my roots were fully colored either. Will try just getting a box of color & applying it with a brush to get the roots & grays covered completely. Not worth this price point.

    Cool idea, almost zero white coverage

    Light ash brown does not come close to covering white hairs. I saturated, waited 40 min, and it’s like I never did it. So so disappointed as the idea is brilliant and it was easy to use the device, so I took the towel off my head and , sigh. It’s supposed to be a full coverage product!!

    Loved the device - I have dark brown to black hair color that has quite a lot of gray. I left the product on a little longer than recommended since I was covering grays but did not offer any coverage - did seem to tone them down a little but just does not work at all for my hair to cover grays.

    Don’t bother. Too expensive and breaks quickly

    Don’t bother. It stopped working after having it for only 13 months and would only use it not worn once a month. It just stopped working. Contacted Loreal, emailed the necessary information they requested and never heard back. It’s too expensive to only work not even a year. My friend had the same problem, just stopped working. Loved it while it lasted. Very disappointed.

    Horrible hair color, good device

    Horrible hair color, good device. The brush device is great, easy to use and clean, makes coloring hair wildly more pleasant and simple. But the dye itself barely lasts 3 washes. I have brown hair with some greys and within a week, my greys were showing again. Major bummer because the device is awesome. They need to make better quality dye AND get the price point for refills closer to a box dye rate.

    Often doesn't work

    This product works well sometimes. These are really expensive and several of them did nothing. There isn't an expiration date on the box so it's impossible to know how long it was sitting on a shelf before I purchased it.

    Did not work at all – gray hairs not covered

    have used the L’Oréal Colorsonic in this exact color before and always got excellent results. However, this time, the product was much more liquid than usual and did not cover my gray hairs at all. I followed the instructions carefully, but there was no visible effect on my hair. Very disappointed, and I would not recommend this batch of the product.

    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This worked amazing on my hair! It was so easy to apply and only took one hand once I got it set up. Set up was simple with no mess left behind. The packaging has the instructions and makes it easy to understand.     There is a learning curve in using the device but once you get the hang of it it’s great. Good coverage, easy to apply. You’ll get two uses out of each cartridge, not more unless you’re just doing roots.

    Color does not last

    While I like this color initially, after 3 washes the color washes off and I needed a touch up already. It’s good for a quick fix last minute touch up but not long term hair color. I thought it would save me money but I end up buy more hair dye to cover the grays. I hope they improve the formula.

    Was hopeful, then disappointed

    This is not an easy device to use. Too many steps, charging, cleaning....etc. I was very disappointed because of the mess it makes, very difficult to use. The cartridge's are hard to find and do not last as long as promised. Would not recommend.
