Poor Quality
I really wanted to love this item. I was very excited to try the hydrosteam feature on this shampooer as I live in the country and have a cat and dog in the house. but unfortunately I have not even had this shampooer a year and have had to replace several belts within the machine and the suction from my carpet is none exhistant at this point. It leaves my carpet as sopping wet. I am to my dissapointment in the market for a new carpet shampooer....

Great for steam cleaning carpet.
I’ve used this machine for a week now. The Pros first. It really heats the water very well. It deep cleans well because I get dirty water that looks like fresh roasted coffee every time I run it. It picks up sand, fuzzy dust strings, seems deep cleaning it does well. Now the cons, the tank holds 1 gallon of water and the dirty tank holds a gallon, but that’s it. I’m filling and dumping tanks constantly. A gallon doesn’t seem to very far on my extremely dirty carpet, It pushes easy, it’s built very well, it’s not loud, well within sound levels of any vacuum I own.

New product not up to hype
Expecting brush to rotate and assist in scrubbing carpet. Steam not working.
1 reply from BISSELL Consumer Care team - 22 days ago
Hi — we’re sorry to hear the performance hasn’t met your expectations. The brush roll should rotate and the steam feature should function as designed, so this isn’t typical. Ensuring the machine is fully set up and heated per the user guide may help, but if the issue continues, we’d like to take a closer look. Please contact us at support.bissell.com so we can assist further.

Just sucked up hair then spat it out , not sure about the function of this particular machine

Sorry to hear this was your experience. For best results, carpets should be thoroughly vacuumed before deep cleaning, as this machine is designed to wash embedded dirt rather than pick up loose hair. We appreciate your feedback, and our BISSELL support team would be happy to help with tips to improve performance—please reach out at support.bissell.com.

This machine is a BEAST!
An improvement over the previous model in power and convenience features. It just cleaned very, very disgusting, and old puppy pee stains without pretreating. It also pulled a ton of dirt out of traffic areas on carpet that has probably never been shampooed before. This machine really does steam clean. It truly is a BEAST. It is somewhat heavy, but that is to be expected for something this powerful. Best home carpet cleaner I've ever used.

Bad suction on shaggy carpet.
It works beautifully on short pile carpet but, shaggy it leaves the water in the carpet.

Hi Cynthia, we’re sorry to hear about your experience. The BISSELL Revolution HydroSteam is designed to provide strong suction, but very thick or shag carpets can hold more moisture and affect pickup. Using slower passes and avoiding extra water on plush carpets can help, and our team can share additional tips at support.bissell.com. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

If you like to clean youre going to love this
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been using the Bissell Revolution HydroSteam and it really works great. It cleans way better than I expected and pulls out dirt I didn’t even know was in the carpet. The HydroSteam part helps a lot, especially on spots that get used a lot. What I like most is how satisfying it is to use. Seeing the dirty water tank fill up is kind of crazy but also nice to see because you know it’s really cleaning. It makes you feel like your carpet is actually getting clean. My wife loves it now too and always notices how clean the carpet looks after we use it. And now that our 8 month old is starting to move around more, it feels really good knowing the carpet is clean for her. Overall, it’s easy to use and does a really good job. If you want something that actually cleans your carpet and you can see the results, this is worth it.

HORRIBLE SUCTION
Shoot. I bought this for the steam feature because that always helps get carpets cleaner in my 25+ years of experience cleaning carpets. While this does seem to steam and clean decently, it leaves an unfathomable amount of water/soap in the carpets. I started with a tank of 128 ounces (1 gallon) and all that it sucked out was a mere 22 ounces of dirty water. I did as the manual suggested and went over each washed section multiple times without the spray feature so as to “suck” the dirty water out. Still just that 22 ounces came out and I’m left with significantly wet carpets. Now I feel I need to go over it again with just water (no solution) so as to try to remove some more of that soap and dirt from the carpets. The machine was promising in that it was easy to set up and sleek looking, not too bulky as past carpet cleaners have been. I read the entire manual and ensured I was using it correctly. I’ve owned 5-7 carpet cleaners in adulthood and this is by far the least effective at removing water from the carpets. Boy, leaving that much water in my carpets is a no-go and I’ll have to return this. Super bummed.

We’re sorry to hear how disappointing the water pickup has been, especially after following the manual and having experience with other carpet cleaners. Leaving carpets overly wet isn’t expected, and our team can help review suction, nozzle contact, and tank setup to improve extraction. Please reach out to us at support.bissell.com so we can assist further, and thank you for sharing your detailed feedback.

We’re really sorry to hear how disappointing this experience was, especially given your extensive carpet‑cleaning experience. Excess moisture can sometimes be caused by airflow or tank seating issues, and making sure the dirty water tank and nozzle are fully secured may help improve extraction. That said, this clearly didn’t meet your expectations, and our BISSELL support team would be glad to help troubleshoot or review return options at support.bissell.com. Thank you for sharing such detailed feedback.

Powerful steam clean and easy on arthritic hands
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a busy home. We currently have one cat, but the kids and my spouse make a much bigger mess. There is always a spill, often a stain, and a lot of the time, a sticky mess. To make this even more troublesome, I have severe environmental allergies and must keep things very clean or I risk a hospital visit for my allergy induced asthma. I am not someone who uses a carpet cleaner only seasonally, but rather, I use it quite regularly. With the Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam, I was intrigued at the cleaning possibility and performance with the added steam focus. I was not disappointed. This machine is quite powerful and really leaves my home feeling much cleaner without added effort. I prefer to clean with steam for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that it really seems to kill off those nasty allergens that literally keep me up at night, coughing and wheezing. My family just moved into our home with brand-new carpet and I expected to not have much to pick up, even in our high-traffic areas. I was surprised that we had such murky water in the dirty water tank! Surprised, and very delighted to see that it was lifted in the first round of cleaning! Being able to see the steam at work was very cool. I watched as little tufts of steam puffed out from the front of the machine like the smokestack on the Little Engine That Could. I love that I can see the detergent and water being sucked up out of the carpet and upholstery so that I can see immediately that the machine is working. I am a big fan of the steam power function, and I think it does help to better clean surfaces when comparing results from this machine to others I have used in the past. I love the self-cleaning function, especially on the upholstery tool. This model certainly made me happy. I have rheumatoid arthritis, so a lot of what I need in any appliance is ease of use and cleaning as well as maneuverability. Though the Hydrosteam has some weight to it, I found it to be very easy to assemble and maneuver, and it was a breeze to clean. The nozzle, catch and clean tray, and accessory hose door were a bit more stiff to detach and reattach, yet still not prohibitive. Both the clean and dirty water tanks are so easy to place and remove. The clean water tank has a lid that stays open for easy filling and two fill guide lines, one for a small area and one for a large area. I found that filling to the "small area" line gives me the perfect amount of solution for those more frequent cleanings of high traffic areas like entryways and hallways. This highly maneuverable and easy to clean machine is very effective in cleaning both my carpet and an awful stain on my couch cushion left by my husband’s coffee spill. I am very pleased with this Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam. I highly recommend to anyone who needs to use a carpet cleaner frequently, as the self-cleaning option, easy to clean parts, and seemless operation made the process almost effortless.

Great carpet steamer
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I want to preface this by saying that my husband is ocd and vacuums our downstairs daily, sometimes multiple times a day. I got this steamer because I have pets and toddlers in the house and they tend to make messes that a regular vacuum cleaner can’t clean. I ended up cleaning the main couch we sit on, the rug, and carpeted rooms upstairs and I was amazed at how easy it was to set up and begin using. I followed directions and pre treated the stains, using the bissel solution it came with and then went over it with the steamer. The results were sensational. It looks like I professionally got this done and it only took a little over the hour. The water in the steamer was disgustingly black. I was shocked at how dirty our floors and upholstery was considering that we clean daily and keep our house pretty clean. My recommendation is to pretreat the stains prior to going over it with the steamer. Use the hose for the furniture and small spaces as it gives you the flexibility to scrub the stains a bit before applying suction. Also, if you do end up cleaning upholstery, do allow for some time for it to dry completely before using.

Superior Clean Looks Good as New
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I initially questioned whether we needed the full-size steam cleaner, since we already own a smaller, portable version—but the difference is truly significant. The overall cleaning power of this machine is incredibly impressive. After vacuuming our area rugs with a standard dry vacuum, I was shocked to see how much additional dirt the Hydrosteam still pulled up. It made it clear that what looked “clean” before wasn’t actually deep-cleaned. When it comes to tackling sticky, stuck-on messes, this machine delivers. With two kids under three and a dog, we deal with everything from spilled honey to potty-training accidents—and it handled all of it with ease. Even older, set-in stains that had been sitting in our carpet for nearly two years were finally lifted. The pre-treat steam function was especially effective for those stubborn spots. The steam power is a standout feature. You can truly feel that it’s using real steam, and it makes a noticeable difference in breaking down grime and sticky residue. That said, the steam gets very hot (something to be mindful of if you have young kids or pets nearby) while cleaning. I also appreciated the self-cleaning cycle. It was straightforward to use and made post-cleanup much easier, which is a huge plus after tackling big messes, and I definitely was not interested in cleaning it myself after seeing how much dirt it picked up. One minor downside I noticed was that during cleaning, some wet lint would initially streak across the carpet surface. However, the machine picked it back up after a few passes, so it ended up being more of a visual indicator of how much dirt was still embedded in the carpet. The main drawback for me is the weight. We live in a two-story home with carpeted bedrooms upstairs, and the machine can be heavy to carry—especially when filled with water. Because of that, I see myself using it most often on our high-traffic area rugs downstairs and relying on a smaller cleaner for quick spot treatments upstairs. Overall, this machine exceeded my expectations. Our rugs haven’t looked this clean since the day we bought them, and it’s become an essential tool for managing the everyday messes that come with a busy household.

We’re thrilled to hear how impressed you are with the deep-cleaning and steam power of your BISSELL HydroSteam® machine. Highly effective in cleaning carpets and rugs
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's been a long time since I've owned another Bissell! So with an aging house that's been more and more costly in upkeep, I hoped to get better results by cleaning my carpets at home than to hire a professional service. So far, it's extremely easy to set up and the hydrosteamer isn't too heavy to pick up and maneuver (which was the big reason I never owned a steamer again till now- they get so heavy!). It does pretty good lifting up fresh and pigmented stains, such as blood, crayon, paint, and pet messes. Far as older stains, which was my main focus when trying this, it struggled a bit. For an older pet stain, I needed around 4-7 passes before it could lift it a few shades but not entirely. Though, I got a better result when spot cleaning first before trying it again at least. The self cleaning cycle is a highly convenient feature since I admit the cleaner is designed in a way that its little hard to get into far as cleaning it out. It does get really noisy, though, especially when treating furniture! Honestly, that's not a big deal breaker as long as it works well. For deep cleaning rugs, this is excellent in that regard. My rugs literally went up to three shades lighter after one treatment! The steam power function made a huge difference with this, but it tends to leave more of a mess behind. So for some things, this is a beast. Others, it can help a good deal with some spot treating beforehand. Besides my issues, I'd still would recommend this cleaner.

We’re glad to hear the HydroSteam® machine has been easy to use and delivered noticeable results on rugs and fresh stains, especially with the steam power feature. For older or set‑in stains, pretreating first—just as you mentioned—can really help improve results, and our tips at support.bissell.com may offer a few extra tricks. We appreciate your honest feedback and recommendation.

A Game Changer for Effortless Carpet Cleaning
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I keep my home fairly clean and vacuum regularly, but I was genuinely impressed by how much the Bissell Revolution Hydro Clean still pulled from my carpets. The water turned noticeably gray after use, which really speaks to its strong suction and deep-cleaning power. Even without visible stains or sticky messes, it lifted dirt and debris that a regular vacuum simply doesn’t catch. While I didn’t have tough spills to test, I feel confident it would handle common stains like juice or wine with ease. One of my favorite features is the real steam function—it made my carpets feel noticeably fluffier and helped them dry faster, which is a huge plus. The self-cleaning cycle is a standout. With other carpet cleaners, I’ve had to take everything apart to prevent buildup and mold, but this makes maintenance incredibly simple and stress-free. It’s truly a lifesaver.

Finally a cleaner that handles toddler mode
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam, and let’s be honest: with a toddler in the house, my rugs and sofa are basically magnets for stains. I’ve tried the "spot cleaning" method with sprays, but it never really gets deep enough. I primarily used this on my area rugs and my fabric sofa. The SteamWash feature is the real winner here. It doesn't just wet the carpet; the steam actually helps break up the sticky, dried-on messes (think crushed crackers and spilled juice) that usually require a lot of scrubbing. It took a high-traffic rug from looking "gray and dingy" back to its original color in one pass. If you have a kid who treats the sofa like a napkin, you need this. I used the handheld attachment to detail my couch cushions. It pulled out stains I thought were permanent. While there is a "Quick Dry" mode, if you use the heavy-duty steam settings on a deep stain, give yourself a few hours before you let the kids back on the furniture. The machine itself is easy to take apart. The brush roll cover pops off so you can actually get the hair and gunk out of the brushes, which is a huge plus for maintenance. It’s a sturdy machine. It’s not "lightweight," but it’s easy to maneuver around furniture. If you’re tired of looking at stains on your furniture and don't want to pay for a professional cleaner every three months, this is worth the investment. It’s a workhorse for a busy household.

So happy with our clean carpets
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far, I am really happy with the Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam! It was really easy to get set up and start using, and - probably even more important - it's really easy to clean afterwards as well! The cleaning power and suction on this machine is great. I've had a few stubborn stains on my carpet (flat weave) that have been hard to get out before trying this. With 3 kids and 3 pets, it's impossible to avoid! After using the steam and the cleaning solution, the stains are pretty much gone. I'm so happy and amazed! The steam feature is a must have and works so well. Overall, the machine feels solid, cleans well, is easy to clean afterwards, and does what it's meant to do. 5 stars for sure, and would recommend to anyone with stains and sticky messes to clean up!

A Serious Deep Cleaner
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was hoping the Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam would breathe some life back into carpets that have taken years of heavy foot traffic, kid messes and the occasional stubborn stain. For the most part, it delivered, with a few things to keep in mind. To start, the assembly was straightforward and took maybe a couple of minutes. Instructions were clear, and switching between cleaning modes is intuitive. As for the cleaning power, the results were genuinely noticeable. For example, my bedroom carpet which had looked dull and flattened for years came out looking refreshed and noticeably softer after a full pass. Everyday set-in stains like food and grime around the house came up without much trouble. That said, it didn't fully remove a candle wax stain that had been sitting in the carpet for a while so manage expectations on the tougher, older stuff. It does feel like the steam makes a tangible difference when it comes to loosening stuck-on messes. Using the Steam Pretreat Mode before a full cleaning pass helped lift debris that a regular cleaning cycle likely would have left behind. It takes a little time to heat up, but once it's going, you can tell the steam is doing real work. One word of caution though is to be prepared about water usage. The machine goes through water quickly, and you may find yourself refilling mid-session on larger areas. It's not a dealbreaker, but worth knowing so you're not caught off guard. On the other hand, I think my favorite feature is the self-cleaning cycle. Genuinely useful, especially given how much hair and general debris this machine pulls up from the carpet. Even after a thorough vacuuming beforehand, the HydroSteam still managed to surface a surprising amount of embedded hair and “kid gunk” which then collected in the brushes. Being able to run a self-clean cycle made the post-use cleanup more manageable. In the end, the Revolution HydroSteam does a good job of what it's designed for, refreshing and deep cleaning carpets that have seen a lot of use. Just go in with realistic expectations: pre-vacuum, plan for drying time, and understand it works better on some stains than others. For everyday revitalization and dealing with recent kid (or pet) messes, it's a worthwhile machine.

We’re glad the Revolution® HydroSteam™ delivered noticeable results on high‑traffic carpets and that the Steam Pretreat and self‑cleaning cycle made a difference. Your tips on water usage and expectations for older stains are helpful insights for other shoppers, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.
