Q: Was the formula changed? The tube I received was chunky, blue, and separated. It wouldn’t mix. I returned and was sent a new tube- this tube was also the same. I won’t be purchasing again. A waste of money for what used to be an amazing product.

  • A: It separates when it is too cold, if I get this shipped during the winter it does this. It actually says on the product do not expose the product to temperatures below 5°C or 41°F . So in colder months I just buy it at the store and it has been fine for me.

    Separates, but still the best.

    As mentioned by several reviewers, this product separates. I learned that this happens if it’s stored somewhere cold, like in warehouses or storage facilities. If you place the tube in some hot water for a while and then shake and knead it, you can re-emulsify it pretty well. You can still use it if it’s separated, and it’s still just as effective. If you want to make sure you get a product that is still properly emulsified, you may want to order it directly from Avene. I haven’t found a cream better than this one. I use it every night as my last step after tretinoin.

    Watery!!!

    I love the way it feels but it’s super watery. Where no cream is coming out- it’s just water! Ive tried shaking it and then just leaving it and both times very watery. Love the way it feels though!

    Won’t buy again :-(

    I used this twice a day for years to help my perioral dermatitis, but the last two tubes were badly separated into water and a thick paste, which I was unable to recombine. In one tube, the two substances sort of curdled when I tried mixing them. Not something I wanted to risk putting on my face. I’ve been having some success with LaRoche products, which I’m having to switch to. Sad that Avène knows about this problem, but just says they’d like to chat about it instead of fixing it.

    Very watery? I'm not sure if the product separated or if this was intentional? There's a lot of water that has all come out of the tube and then I've tried to mix it and massage the tub but there's still lots more. Not sure if this is normal?

    Defective Product

    Used to be an awesome cream, but the reformulation ruined it. I have bought several tubes in both sizes from different retailers and they ALL are defective. No one should have to "fix" a product that they paid this much for. Shaking and kneading the tube does not work anyway. Do Not Buy until Avene fixes this issue!

    Inconsistent formula

    The first time I bought this - I absolutely fell in LOVE with it. It was incredible for my skin. Since then, I’ve attempted to buy it 3 times and unfortunately the formulation is not consistent. All 3 bottles have been basically pure water. No amount of shaking or anything helps it and they’re unusable. It was money down the drain. It’s disappointing and will not continue trying to repurchase.

    Truly works wonders. My face was on fire due to over exfoliating. Derms I follow on insta recommended this product for good reason.     Very Disappointed

    I have been using this product for over 14 years. THAT product was exactly as advertised and was a 20 out of 5 stars. This product you sent me was completely separated. WATER came out of the tube (and yes, I shook it and shook it and shook it some more!). NEVER has this happened to me before. You guys need to figure out what’s going on. A supplier or distributor changed…SOMEthing happened that has changed the quality of your product. If this isn’t fixed, I will soon be changing to something different. Very disappointed.

    Defective product

    Half filled with water. When I squeeze the tube water comes out then some pasty cream. I tried shaking it, kneading it, but still the same. It was expensive. Very disappointed.

    I just bought this today and it’s completely separated. I tried warming up the tube, shaking and kneading the tube and it did nothing. For the price point this is really upsetting.

    Liquidy (in-store Target purchase)

    Target must not store this properly at some point in the shipping process because this was so liquidy when I squeezed the tube. I shook the tube and it just made liquid sounds. The product has separated due to cold exposure.
