Q: Does it remove micro plastics? How many times can you use the filter before it must be discarded and new filter inserted into water purifier unit?
submitted by CellPhoneOwnerOfJunk - 15 days ago
A: Culligan with ZeroWater Technology filters have not been certified for the reduction of microplastics. The lifespan of your filter depends on your local water quality and household water usage. The best way to know when to replace your filter is by using the included TDS meter. When the reading reaches 6 or higher and the amber light turns on, it’s time to replace the filter. Don’t wait, as taste and odor can start to degrade past this point. The US national average for TDS (total dissolved solids) is 220 parts per million. If you are in the average range for TDS, you can expect 25 gallons per filter.

Q: Does it say on the box that it’s not compatible with the old pitchers?
The Culligan water filtration pitcher offers an impressive filtration system that effectively removes contaminants, providing clean and great-tasting water. Guests appreciate its sleek design and ease of use, making it a convenient addition to any kitchen. However, some concerns have been raised about the filter's longevity and the new sealing mechanism. Overall, it remains a popular choice for those seeking a reliable water filtration solution.

Great filter, not-so-great packaging
You've done better. The new plastic film cover sealing the filter intake binds, tears, and leaves an adhesive film behind. I respect the desire to use less plastic; however, this is a significant downgrade from the screw-on caps. Outside of these new issues, the filtration itself is still the standard option for both my home and office and I am hopeful for improvements soon.

TDS Meter, changes all the time back and forth.
I bought this 16 days ago and the TDS meter started with 0 and now it shows 5 of a sudden. Then It went back to 2 and now it says 4. Not sure what is going on. My Husband said we just need to stick to bottle water, Since the filter cost so much.

Bad taste after 2 months
I bought the system in March 2026. I recently noticed a strange plastic taste in the water out of the dispenser (2 months of use). It was worse tasting then my tap water. The TDS sensor still read zero even with the weird taste but I changed the filter anyway. It tastes great after changing the filter but I was disappointed how quickly the filter needed to be changed. My tap water tests around 80 on the sensor it came with, my reason for filtering is high PFAS in my area. I figured with fewer TDS in my tap the filter would last longer.

Thoughts on zero water
The filter works to perfection and the results are easy to taste. I would not use any other filter system. That said, I wish the filters lasted longer. I barely get 1 month, which makes them fairly pricey.

Best Water Filter Pitcher on the Market
Absolutely fabulous product! Bought in the UK and I’m never drinking straight tap water again! Small query…Can the filters be recycled or how do I dispose of them safely?

Read above.
I live in NW Iowa where farm chems have really polluted our water quality. I’ve been drinking CULLIGAN out of 5 gallon bottles for 34 years in Iowa. They do not offer that 5gallon jug in South Florida, so…ZERO WATER IS A SAVIOR! Great testing equipment comes w your Zero Water dispenser. Check your tap, check your neighbors tap. In Boca Raton ZERO WATER is a great and cost conscious option.

Of course the best feature is the filtration function which keeps the dissolved solids in the filtered water at 0 ( which is why you filter the water in the first instance. But a great and welcome surprise has been how rapidly the filtration process occurs. Tap water is filtered so quickly you dont have time to sit down a wait for the process to finish . Freshly filtered water is available almost before you can fetch a drinking glass from the kitchen cabinet to use for drinking it. I’ve had similar systems that took nearly 20 minues to produce “clean” drinking water. Bravo! culligan!

Thank you for your review. With a tap water TDS reading of 253 parts per million, the average filter should last for around 20 gallons.

Love the way it looks and sturdy too.
I brought this a month ago and so far it’s still working great. Unfortunately I didn’t keep the box and I didn’t realize how difference it is, the operating system is giving me all kinds of numbers and I don’t know if I should be doing something like what I’m supposed to do when the numbers go up and up and down? 🤷

Extremely Short Life
- Water tastes amazing. - The filters only last me 10 days which is way too short for the price of the filter. - The level of filtration is overkill for the kitchen.

Have lead pipe from city supply to house. Very difficult and expensive to replace pipe. Used Culligan filter for 6 weeks. Lead level went from 9ppb to zero!

Best tasting water!!
Love the Zero Water Filtration System. I’ve been using the products for about 25 years. I have the large refrigerator dispenser & a couple of the Pitchers for travel while staying at hotels or friends houses, I carry my filtered water Pitcher with me everywhere. I do not buy sodas or regular tea & water when we go out to eat because I can taste the algae & poor water served in the tea or sodas at restaurants. I also make my own ice for my drinks at home. I wish there was a way to hook up one of the 5 stage filters to the automatic ice makers in my refrigerator.
