Q: Can any commercial cleaning solution be used or must it be the Hoover brand?

A: This is my favorite carpet cleaner ever! I've always used a mixture of either Mrs. Meyers, or Mrs. Meyers and 1/4 cup bleach (never bleaches my carpet, only santizes it) and I've used even laudry soap and bleach (small amounts of each) and have had exceptional results. I think they want you to use the Hoover brand cleaners for obvious reasons, but I've always used other methods when I ran out of the cleaner that comes with the machine. If your uneasy about the bleach mixture try a little on a small patch first. But I've always put about a 1/4 cup in my full water tank to sanitize my carpet. Love it.

A: There is an Auto-Trigger Float in the Dirty Water Tank that triggers when the tank is full. This causes a high-pitched noise, alerting you that it is time to empty the Dirty Water Tank.

Q: Have any of you used both a triggerless model & a triggered? How do they compare for cleaning & sucking up water? I'm concerned I'll have trouble laying down enough solution & trouble sucking up enough water without multiple passes.

So happy with this purchase!! We have a home with 3 dogs, 3 cats and 2 kids constantly running in and out. This item shipped so fast and I was thrilled to open the box and start using. I typically will shampoo our rugs about 1 time per month and as soon as I used this I was SHOCKED to see what it pulled out of the rug. One of the best parts is that the entire thing breaks down for washing! I love that there is a separate receptical for clean water and solution and both tanks are large so I dont have to continuously fill up or dump out. It took a minute for me to get used to the wash/dry but I can't believe how much better the rugs smell after the dry feature- it really gets additional moisture out of the rug leaving the house feeling fresh.

Owned for not even 9 months with moderate use and it stopped working completely. Motor just hums and eventually grows louder the longer it’s plugged in. Had to unplug it because it sounds like it’s going to blow up. Thoroughly checked everything, no clogs, no breaks, I’m stumped. Hopefully Hoover support will assist…. If not I’ll try to update the review

Absolutely love this steam cleaner. My old one used to give me back pain from how heavy it was and wrist pain from having to constantly hold down a big button to signal it to let the water go. This one is automatic! And it’s so light weight no back pain! It feels like you’re just vacuuming. And man can it get some stains out! I have a white and grey area rug, with 2 cats, a dog and a 7 month old baby. The animals always throw up on my rug even though there’s wood floors throughout the house, it’s like they aim for it! And my son has been sick and threw up on it. I thought for sure I’d have to get rid of my favorite area rug. A little stain remover and 20 minutes of my time and bam, what stain. 10/10 highly recommend.

I loved it at the start but now it leaks everywhere from the solution area/tank. Otherwise it was amazing! I have two dogs who are messy and a white rug. Wow that was dumb, but this has helped keep it clean.

I used it. Worked okay, however, invariably it broke down. Hoover never seems to last. If you try to get parts/service in Canada for any Hoover product, and succeed, you are the lucky one. No me.

Easily installed, and operated. The motion sensitive auto wash/dry feature makes it very easy to use. The drying capability is effective and fast. So far we managed to remove all stains with little passes. The clean/dirty tanks are big enough to work a 100 sf room without stopping. Another feature we liked, is the hose attachment(s), which enabled us to wash the stairs and sofa couches. We always vacuum, and keep our carpets nifty clean, yet this hoover carpet washer pulled so much dust and deep dirt out of those carpets.

We’ve had this for a few years and I am feeling compelled to write a review because of how much use we use this. We have 2 small kids and a dog and this has saved our carpets/rugs on multiple occasions. We have used it for low pile carpet, wool rugs, shag rugs and furniture. I would suggest you spot test first but we haven’t had any issues and it makes everything look clean + new. It’s easy to use and the solution is cheap. I would buy this again and highly recommend.

Broke after a couple of uses, it's only 6 months old. Water does not go into dirty water tank so I'm guessing it goes back into carpet. Contacted Hoover serveral times because it's under their warranty and heard NOTHING from them. And when it did work, it's a pain to clean.

A lot to like about this carpet cleaner. Easy to use and clean. We bought it in May of 2020 and the motor died last week. Should I purchase this same model again? I probably will because weighing the cost vs convenience and performance make it a good value to me.

I read a lot of reviews on this product. It had a pretty high rating on consumer reports, so I went for it. My advice so far is to read the simple instructions. Keep your machine as clean and dry as possible. It takes quite a bit of work to clean it, but I can't imagine putting it away dirty and expecting the machine to last. A simple rinse and laying the parts out to dry is what the manual recommends. It easy to maneuver and does an excellent job cleaning. Depending on how dirty your carpet is, you will want to stop and clean out any debris midway through cleaning, even if the dirty tank isn't quite full. Drying the carpets goes much faster if you use the dry only mode until not much water is pulled up. I do wish the parts were made of sturdier plastic. It seems like some of the parts could easily break and don't quite fit snug together. It doesn't use a ton of cleaner. The sample it came with cleaned one bedroom and our living room.

I have owned carpet cleaners for years bother Hoover and BISSELL. What I like about this is the brush roll and that it's SUPER easy to clean. I like the large opening on the dirty water reservoir to dump and clean it without getting dirty dog water all over me. What I hate is that there's no trigger on this to control where the cleaner goes, I realize that's the feature of the machine. Sometimes, there's an area on the floor that needs extra cleaner. This machine has no control for that, not even a shot button for extra cleaner. I would not recommend this for people with pets. As soon as Hoover makes a model with this super awesome brush roll set up, the large opening on the for dirty water tank for dumping, separate water and cleaning solution reservoirs, AND a cleaning solution trigger I would instantly purchase. I do like the dry only button. For now, I have to keep a spray bottle with water/cleaning solution to spray areas that need extra cleaning. I also think a rinse only option would be great. The old spin scrubs had that and it was awesome! But the brushes on those were very difficult clean. I give this a B-. Close to perfect but not quite. Fix not being able to control the cleaning solution dispersal and you have a winner.
