Q: Does this connect over Bluetooth or 2.4ghz?

submitted by PTimms - 7 months ago
  • A: Hi there- Shokz here! The Shokz OpenComm 2 (specifically the UC version) connects via both Bluetooth (5.1) and a dedicated 2.4GHz wireless dongle (Loop110), giving you flexibility for computers and mobile devices, often with multipoint pairing to connect to two sources at once. The standard OpenComm 2 relies mainly on Bluetooth, while the UC version adds the 2.4GHz dongle for better PC/laptop integration. Please reach out to our Customer Happiness Team if you have any other questions. Thank you!

  • A: Buy the UC Version ! The other Version is Hit/Miss on Bluetooth to Laptops but works very well with phones. If using for heavy office calls you def want the UC version

Q: Does the mic remove for temporary use without the mic or only fold back?

submitted by OC - 5 months ago
  • A: Hi there- Shokz here! The microphone on the OpenComm 2 is not detachable; it can only be folded back and rotated out of the way when not in use. The boom arm is an integrated part of the headset design. Please reach out to our Customer Happiness Team if you have any other questions. Thank you!

Q: How is call quality for the person on the other end of the call? Can they hear wind and background noises?

submitted by Great Idea - 1 year ago
  • A: These are excellent for the other end, the other party cannot hear any background noises at all due to the excellent noise cancellation on the boom mic your voice is very clear to the other end.

submitted byBen - 2 months ago
  • A: Having owned 3 Pairs of OpenComm Models now the Call Quality is Excelent, far superior to AirPod 2's even in a Noisy Env.. They last 2-3 years (def worth the extra warranty).

Q: Would these be good for computer gaming? Is there any lag in the audio?

submitted by TampaTrophyWife - 2 months ago
  • A: Hello- Shokz here! The Shokz OpenComm 2 is designed primarily for office communication, Zoom meetings, and voice calls rather than high-performance gaming. While they can be used for casual, single-player, or situational-awareness-focused gaming, they may have limitations in sound quality and potential audio lag that make them suboptimal for competitive, fast-paced gaming. \Because the OpenComm 2 uses Bluetooth, there is a "very slight" 1/5th of a second (or less) delay, which can cause audio to feel slightly out of sync with action. Please reach out to our Customer Happiness Team if you have any other questions. Thank you!

They are is lightweight I forget I am wearing them. Once I got them registered, all was great. I really like the. I do have log hair and that tends to get in the way, but ot the fault of the headpiece, I put my hair I-away from trouble. LOVE THEK

Not as good as I had hoped

After much research I decided to purchase Open Comm2. I purchased to use as hands free device as a long haul truck driver. At the time of review I have not gotten to use in the truck. Positives: light weight, fairly comfortable, and super easy to set up. Microphone on calls works very well. Sound quality is pretty good with music, and excellent on phone calls. Some things I found disappointing: Wearing glasses and hearing aids, they are a bit cumbersome and not a great fit on my ears. They fit too loose for my liking. Unable to adjust volume high enough for my liking. At full volume on my phone low tones vibrate and are uncomfortable against my ears. Over fairly satisfied though I don’t believe they are worth the price.

    They Changed. . . .

I have had one of the older boom mic sets and had been very please with them. I saw the "New Gen 7 " Sets were on sale and well you know the story. . . The ability to transmit sound is much improved with better lows and highs. The ease of use hasn't really changed. . . . but the new set has the boom on the right side with a corresponding change in the button arrangement. But I found the volume buttons more pronounced and easier to use. I just wish they would have these buttons on their entire line of headsets as I have a set with out the boom mic that I can't find the buttons with my fingers and it just sits in the safe. . . .

    Didnt fit

I ended up selling them to a buddy because they didn't fit. They sat on my ears instead of in front of my ears. Sound was great but no adjustment to them.

    Love it

It’s been hard find a earpiece for my kind of job which is heavy wrecker /crane operator with the tow company and a lot of headphones could either hurt my ear the inside or around my ear about this. It feels like I have nothing on my ear really well love every minute so far.

Music sounds good but directions from GPS poor

The music sounds good though these headsets. I wish I could say that I was pleased with directions from GPS. Information like “go through this light and turn right at the next one” becomes “and turn right at the next one”. There is a latency that makes hands free vehicle operation difficult. The vibration against the skin from music will definitely take some getting used to.

3rd set! 1st with the mic

I bought a pair of OpenMic specifically for work. I have (2) other pair that I was using for both work and personal (run, cycle, grocery shopping) and they were getting quite the workout. With a dedicated set for work it lightens the load on each and I don't have to worry about accidentally leaving them at work, or at home, or even in the car. What I love about these is that the sound quality gets better and better with each purchase. These sound fantastic.

    Excellent!!!!!

Excellent during phone calls as it blocks background noise while operating heavy equipment and driving dump truck yet able to hear surroundings as needed for safety. Light weight and comfortable to wear. Long battery life.

    4th pair and gets better

This is my 4th pair of Sholz and they get better every generation. Started a new job that I have to attend Web meeting and love I can just mute from the boom mic. Distance from device and still stay connected is amazing. Only thing that would make them better if I have a 2nd pair for my home office.

    Improved sound improved mic

I had a previous gen and destroyed it over the years, this is my second one. Much better sound and with the mic far better meeting quality. However, if you’re focusing on just sports and music 🎶 go without the mic. Either ways this is awesome tech!!!

    I like the open comm

I like the open comm head set, however,90en long periods they get annoying squeeze on your head. The sound is good but it is not a stereo quality. The mic on the head set is really the difference when talking on the phone. the headset with out extension mic sound quality is like being a box vs the extension mic. The open comm make all the difference in communication. I wish Shokz’s support the open comm with the app.

    Big Fail

I ordered these due to the fact that the mic in my OpenPro2 head set hand a weak mic. When they were stolen I figured this to be a good opportunity to try the OpenComm2 instead of purchasing the same thing. Nope! The sound quality is not the same. The mic isn’t substantially better. The balance and distribution is off when worn as well. Not a fan. At the price it was a risky investment and I would say a total loss.
