BAD. No longer what it used to be.
This mousse is no longer suitable for 4C hair. I have used this mousse for several years now and it used to create hold and definition on my 4C hair. This is no longer the case. Now my hair has day 7 frizzines on day 1 freshly styled wash and go. I bought the Chief Rocka mousse and it has better hold than the Mousse Def mousse. Chief Rocka has the same strong hold as the old Mousse Def that I bought in the past. Though, on the website it states that both mouses have medium hold. Hmm, strange... If my memory serves me correctly, I remember it stating in the past that Mousse Def was a strong hold mousse. I want the old formula back. Sadly I will no longer be repurchasing.

Finally a mousse that works for me!
I love that it holds my curls without weighing them down! Super lightweight and gives a light cast that is easily able to crunch out with a few drops of oil. If your hair likes to soak up product but you can only use this and a gel, this mousse is your girl :) I use a combo of this mousse first, Odele Curl Defining gel- but just a quarter size of it- and when half dry, HASK repair argon oil 5-1 leave in spray to scrunch the crunch :) its such a good combo if your hair weighs down easily if you use too many products

Stringy waves
Wanted to try this due to the good reviews. It didn’t seem to make my hair more frizzy or dry but it was too crunchy or textured so it made it look much stringier than it does with other products. I had to brush out my waves to get rid of it as it wouldn’t totally scrunch out. I even tried it several different times in different amounts and before and after my leave in smoother. So on someone with thick, wavy long hair this was a no go.

ALLERGY
When the class action lawsuit comes out I’ll be joining it. Me and my son are highly allergic to this brand. I really loved the results on our hair but it causes burning and itching for us. This will be another Mielle situation.

I never review things. I have 3b-3c natural hair and everything is either too heavy or too light. This mousse is my HOLY. GRAIL. I pair it with a leave in and light curl cream (usually just whatever I'm trying to get rid of) and this, without a doubt, delivers every single time. I will be buying several to bring on a 3 month long trip bc I genuinely cannot live without it. If you want definition? CHECK. Not sticky? CHECK. Soft hair with strong hold? CHECK. BUY. THIS.

This is the best mousse I have ever used. I pair it with Crazy Sexy Curl mouse and I get the best wash and go. Works on all types of curls. I have 3 girls and we all have different textures and works on all textures. You will get a full week or even more with your curls looking shiny, frizz free, defined. If you put it on more wet hair, the hold won’t be as strong. If you put it on damp hair, the hold will be stronger so you can tweak it how you want it. I honestly cannot stop going on and on about how wonderful these mousses are. I have tried numerous curly hair products…The Doux nailed it!

The best for curly hair
For so long I've been looking for a product that defines my curls but isn't stiff and crunchy. This is the perfect hold! I've been using it for almost 2 years and I won't try anything else. I don't have any issues with build up. I'm going to start trying some of their other products for my kids. I highly recommend!

Let me tell you, THIS MOUSSE is everything!! I was never a fan of them because any type I tried before dried my hair out. I gave it a shot and loved it from day one. I paired it with the Bonita Afro Balm.. GOLDEN MIX Y'ALL. I don't know what they did to make this mousse but this is it!

3AB curly fine mixed porosity hair.
Okay, I didn’t like this as much as I hoped for. This product is quite heavy for a mousse, with soft to medium hold that creates a hard cast, and at first it makes my curls look really good once fully dry and scrunched out, they look shiny and defined, but within 24hrs my hair feels dry, looks dull, tangles easily, and gets super frizzy. (See picture of high bun) I section my wet/damp hair and apply less than a pump per section (I found that less product is better, despite the instructions) so I brush it to detangle and scrunch to style - I purposely avoid my roots because I have mixed porosity (low porosity on roots and high porosity on ends), and still this mousse manages to get everywhere!!! My hands, my arms, my sink… It’s just a very liquidy formula. So I almost always end up with weighed down roots and defined mids to ends… However that definition doesn’t last long, and tbh I don’t think this product is actually moisturizing or good for my hair at all. It’s great to use when I’m doing a wash-&-go style and I don’t have time to layer products, but definitely not for everyday use. I’ve used this mousse on dry hair for slick back buns, and I wasn’t a fan of the hold. However! I’ve also used this mousse to style my edges and it works amazingly for that - you just have to work quick-ish and use enough mousse. I probably won’t purchase this one again to style my hair, and I don’t exactly recommend it to other people with my same hair texture, but I’m not giving up on this brand! (I will keep it around for when I do my edges tho!) Overall, try at your own risk.

Saw a bunch of raving reviews from people with my curl type (3b) so i figured i’d try. Im not used to foamy mousses so i was a little confused but used it the way i usually would in my routine (detangler, curl cream/leave in, mousse for volume/sealing). Smells nice but was extremely sticky, stood sticky on my hands even after washing twice🤨 Curls were frizzy, no cast (which is advertised and what i wanted, but i say this negatively because it had zero hold), looked like i got out the shower and let my hair dry without putting any product in. Tried it again the way its advertised (as a stand alone product for detangling, styling, etc etc) and my hair came out worse. Flaking, zero definition, zero hold (i did use it with soaking wet hair though), zero volume. I should note that my hair is pretty dehydrated and i didn’t use a mask so that might’ve contributed? Im trying to hard to like it and this is my second time using so ill keep at it but i doubt ill repurchase. The price in itself is outrageous honestly but at least if i liked it it’d be justifiable

Not for 3b curls, maybe good for Kinky hair
I bought this a while ago because my roommate uses it on her kinky curls, and I thought it would work miracles for my hair too since it’s so popular. Lately, my curls have been looking really dry and frizzy, and I assumed they were damaged for some reason until I realized I’ve been using this Doux mousse religiously every wash day. The last time I used a different brand of mousse, my curls were super defined, tight, and stayed that way until my next wash. But after going back to the Doux, my curls are dry, frizzy, and limp again. Maybe this product just isn’t meant for 3B curls. I still have half a bottle left and really wanted to love it, but my hair absolutely hates it. It leaves my curls loose, dry, and frizzy instead of bouncy and defined.
