A: The filters are typically estimated to last about 6-8 months, with the lifespan dependent on the current air quality as well as how often the unit is run. To maintain your filter, we recommend cleaning the pre-filter (outer layer of the filter) using a soft brush or vacuum hose every 2-4 weeks. Please do not use water or liquid to clean the filter, however. Trapped water particles may result in mold growth or mildew smells. A: It is recommended to change the filters every 6-8 months of use.

A: The filters are not washable. I get 6-7 months out of a filter if I gently vacuum the outside of the filter, every few weeks. I also wipe down the casing with all the holes where the air is sucked in.

A: Rest assured, both Target's specifications are correct and depend on the air-change rate! Please note that the PlasmaPro 300 is effective in rooms up to 1,080 ft² (1 ACH) and highly efficient in rooms 223 ft² (4.8 ACH). A: Aside from the PlasmaPro models (which have an optional plasma function), all Levoit air purifiers are ozone-free and do not produce ions. Please note that the PlasmaPro models also have ozone-free versions on our website (Core 200S, 300S, 400S, & 600S). They work purely mechanically by drawing in air and filtering it through our 3-stage filtration system. The plasma function works by breaking down pollutants' molecular structure through the bonding of negative and positive ions.

A: None of the replacement filters contain fiberglass. Both the pre-filter and the main filter use PP and PET composites. The carbon in our filters is activated carbon, which is mainly derived from coal.

A: Our units feature a 3-stage filtration system including a high-efficiency carbon filter to help remove odor particles. For best results, we recommend minimizing the source of the smell as best as possible first. The air must also pass through the filters a few times.
