Finally a Detergent That Cleans Well Without Irritating Skin
I’ve tried a lot of laundry detergents over the years, and “free & gentle” versions can be hit or miss — sometimes they’re gentle but don’t clean well, or they clean well but still somehow irritate skin. This one actually hits the balance. The first thing I noticed is that it’s truly fragrance-free. Not the fake “unscented but still smells like perfume” situation — just clean clothes with no lingering scent. For anyone sensitive to smells or skin reactions, that alone is a huge win. Performance-wise, it handles normal laundry really well. Everyday clothes come out clean, and I haven’t needed to use extra product or boosters. It also works fine in cold water cycles, which I use most of the time. What I liked: • No dyes or perfumes — gentle on skin • Cleans effectively without needing a lot • Works in cold water Things to know: • If you love strongly scented laundry, you won’t get that here (which is the point) Overall, this is one of those practical purchases that just makes life easier. It does its job without causing problems, and that’s exactly what I want in a detergent.

"Free & Gentle" has scent in recent purchases
We have used Tide Free & Gentle for many years with no problem but recent purchases have a scent that is similar to regular detergent. Even with adding white vinegar to the rinse cycle and adding an extra rinse it is still very noticeable and unwelcome. What has Tide done to it?

We understand that scent is very subjective, and we appreciate you saying you used for years and no problem had, but this not the type of experience we want you to go through. Although fragrance or perfume is not added to the product, they will have a scent due to their natural smell. Since there's no masking fragrance added to cover this smell, you may notice it before using the product, but it should not transfer to your fabrics after use. Sometimes under unique circumstances, such as prolonged contact with strongly scented products, the product can pick up fragrance from other nearby products. This really is so GENTLE!!
I have a lot of clothing that is very delicate, made of materials like wool and silk. I always hesitate to wash these items with regular detergent because of the dyes and scents. This is the first detergent that I've felt comfortable using on my gentle clothes. I also live with a few people who have sensitivities and allergies to dyes and scents. This detergent has been a heaven sent.

I love Tide, and this product was great, especially for my family members that have sensitive skin. Personally for my laundry, I love the clean soft feeling this gave, but I had to add my scent boosters back in. When they say no fragrance, they mean not even a soapy smell. This is a great Tide option, but I'll save this one specifically for my family that needs it and I'll stick to my very fragranced soaps. I received this product complimentary for testing purposes.

Tide: A must buy detergent
I was looking for a detergent that would be able to gently clean my clothes. It really cleaned the dirt and Reminence off. It mixed with the water well in the washing machine I followed all the instructions and my clothes came out, smelling and looking fresh.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It does exactly what it’s supposed to. It’s one of my go to detergents. It’s fragrance free, gets all of the stains out, and it doesn’t smell bad. Previously, I’ve used other fragrance free detergents and they would often times leave an odd smell — this one doesn’t. I also like the size of the container. It’s easy to use and it isn’t bulky. A little definitely goes a long way and I like to measure out exactly how much I’m going to use without overdoing it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really enjoyed using this tide free and gentle detergent. It was super easy to use and pour due to the tiny sized bottle I received. I like that it is unscented and hypoallergenic therefore perfect for those with sensitive or reactive skin, it is also better for the environment as well. Meaning this can work well for babies and kids clothes. I tried it on my toddler nephews clothes, he also has sensitive skin and his clothes came out fresh and clean. The best part is it cleans super dirty soiled laundry just as well as other scented detergents and without any scents or dyes which is my favorite part. I try to use more eco friendly and unscented products when I can and this worked perfectly for my towels that I try to wash frequently due to having long hair and workout clothes that are sweat filled as well!

I switched to Tide free and gentle a year ago. I used to get random stains on my clothes when doing laundry, and since I switched over to this brand, my clothes are nice and clean, no more random stains on clothes, and the smell is gentle, great for sensitive skin!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Tide free and gentle is my favorite detergent. I switched from a different free and clear brand to tide. My children and I are sensitive to fragrance and other ingredients in laundry detergent so finding one that doesn’t break us out in a rash and make us itch is tricky. Thankfully this one is perfect. It’s gentle on skin but also cleans our clothes great! I’ve had no issues when it comes to getting clothes clean. It removes dirt, odor, and light stains. If I want fragrance in my laundry I’m able to add a scent booster and they work well together.

I find it cleans my clothes as well as my other loads, but it has no fragrance which I like for my sheets. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Tide Free and Gentle laundry detergent actually worked really well for me and my family. We live in an area wear the water is harsh so we're always looking for ways to keep our skin feeling good and using gentle products. I decided to use this detergent in place of my usual detergent, we've been using it for a couple weeks now, and I've found it's a good product to keep stocked in our laundry room. It definitely is not scented so that means it's easy to use and not going to get an overpowering scent when I'm handling laundry that would irritate my asthma or other ailments. It's leaving our clothes quite clean and looking like new so we've had no complaints with it! I'd recommend for anyone looking for something that won't irritate their skin and doesn't have a strong scent added to it or dyes in the detergent. I will definitely be picking up another bottle in our next grocery order!
