Not happy
I liked the machine when it worked. However we bought this April of 2025 and I already need to spend money on replacement parts. The front floor plastic piece is cheaply made and broke. I also see this is a common problem for this particular machine. I also need to replace an end cap for a brush roll. With Hoover being such an old household name I expected way more from a product. Very disappointing.

10 months and stopped working
Used only 5 times in 10 months and machine stopped working. The bearing that rotates one of the brushes is frozen and once we took apart, realized there are some fundamental design flaws. Would not recommend!

Used this machine many many times. Love it. However, the last time I used it, the rollers (brushes) stop rotating. Now they spin freely like they are attached to anything. HELP !!!!!

Second Hoover that leaks Cleaning Solution
Worked good for a while then the carpet cleaning solution came right through the machine. I did everything that was posted online. Nothing worked!! Second Hoover Shampooer that has done this. I will never buy s hoover again!!

Don't buy!
Waist of money. I should have returned this when I had issues with the suction the first time I used this. This cleaner has no problem with the solution being dispensed but if you want to have the water/solution sucked up forget it. I have tried all the troubleshooting possibilities and nope nothing being sucked into the vacuum. I have only used this a handful of times and the return window has now expired.

bad experience
i bought this item two years ago and the motor gave out on me. we use it every 6 months or if our kids spill something on the carpet . it worked great while we had until it didn’t.

It was the best shampooer I ever had until it quit working on me... I wish I could get a replacement. But they never would replace it so im looking to buy a new one when I get the money again. I was doing carpet cleaning videos with It on Facebook to support hoover until it quit. But now im looking for the next best option that I can make my videos with.

I've had this for 2 years and love it. No trigger, just wash when pushing forward and dry when pulling back, makes it super easy. Dry only button let's you get extra moisture out. A rinse or water only button would be ideal but I guess if you don't want soap, just take the soap container off. Large capacity in water tanks means you can do a fairly large room on one run without stopping to empty/refill. That does make it a bit heavy, so might be hard for say, my 68-year-old mom with a bad shoulder (that's what she had me for). Dry suction doesn't leave much moisture in the carpet.

I'm really impressed with this carpet cleaner. I got it on a sale and have used multiple times. It works great and doesn't leave a residue or extra water on the surface. It is easy to clean all parts after use and so far it all goes back together easily. I have not used the attachments but I suspect they work well. I would recommend based on my experience so far. I used a Green Machine 3 years ago and the Hoover far surpassed it in functionality and efficiency.

A lot of cleaning for a great price
I purchased this on sale. I was going to rent a machine, and then I saw the rental is $50/day plus an extra $5 for the hose and hand nozzle to clean stairs and upholstery. So renting is $55/day plus tax! I took the sale price and divided it by the rental price and discovered that if I rent a machine 4 different times, I have already paid enough to purchase this one! No brainer! I have an old Hoover carpet machine that is 25 years old and has held up perfectly. Finally, the hose for hand-cleaning disintegrated, and the bottom tank, after 25 years, started leaking. So I am sold on the brand for durability and build quality. There are only a couple of pieces to assemble, and they snap together in a jiffy with no tools required. The new one is much lighter than the old one, due to newer materials. What are the improvements? 1- You no longer have a trigger to pull to dispense the solution. The machine automatically dispenses whenever you push forward, and vacuums the residue when you pull backwards. 2- The cleaning solution now goes in a separate tank, and the machine automatically mixes the correct ratio of water to solution as it dispenses the liquid. Saves putting too much solution into the water, as I always felt I did. 3- What if I only want to "suck up" the liquid? Well, there is a button you press for "vacuum only," and it stops dispensing liquid until you press the button again. 4- While it is still hefty, it is lighter than the old model, making stair cleaning easier. With the machine on the floor, the hose will reach up about 5 stair steps. 5- The vacuum power is very strong, so it pulls a lot of the cleaning solution back out of the carpet. You will be amazed at how dirty that liquid is! 5 - There is actually heated air that assists in drying the carpet more quickly. Older models did not have this feature. The noise level is what is to be expected with any carpet cleaner. It's about as noisy and a regular vacuum cleaner. Only my wife and I occupy our house, along with a couple of dogs. We don't track much in and out of the house, and the carpet survives only in two bedrooms now, but the master is pretty big. I was amazed at the amount of filthy, dirty water that came out of that small carpeted area. I expected it on the stairs, but didn't realize it was that much in the bedroom. If you have carpet in your house, you need to clean it at least once a year. You have three options: (1) Hire a $$ professional cleaner, (2) Rent a machine and pick-up and lug it back to the store, or (3) BY FAR the most economical method is to purchase a cleaner and do it yourself. It was about as quick as vacuuming, and now the carpet looks great and smells fresh.

Loud revving down
I got mine as a gift March 2022 and 4 years later mine is telling me its had enough. I only use on 1 area rug and once a year on my mother in laws carpets. Last time I used it I noticed it making a loud noise. I do have a puppy and she missed her pee pad and got some on the area rug, so I decided to shampoo it, noticed it didnt sound normal. I turned it off and it was revying down loud and long and it really sounds like its going to die on me. Its never made this sound before. I really do love my shampooer but am disappointed

The 2nd Smartwash+ That Broke On Me
This is the second SmartWash I have owned. I have one carpet in my entire hone, an 8x12 rug in the living room,so it's not like the cleaner gets a lot of use. Anyway, the first cleaner lasted a year, this one lasted 4 uses before the nozzle in front of the machine broke. Same as last time: I now have 2 broken springs and 1 plastic nub in my hand and a carpet cleaner that no longer works. Again!!.What a waste of money!!
