Q: Am I the only one or is this unit super low Volume I have both camera and parent unit on high volume and I could barely hear anything I have to keep putting the parent unit in my ear to hear a bit better unless I got a bad batch

  • A: It's not just you. The volume level of the monitor is very low even at max. If you connect the camera with the app on your phone you can actually achieve a reasonable volume but why the monitor then?

Q: Why does the playback speed drop so significantly when in split screen? Each camera is normal separately but when showing both they're terrible. You can't even tell what's going on.

Q: What is the camera's optical zoom? The specifications do not provide this information. Digital zoom is fake zoom and it's not clear in the description.

  • A: It’s actually pretty awful and anything you do after the digital zoom resets everytime you leave and come back. The cameras are 1080p the digital screen is only 720P meaning the cameras are capable of high resolution but instead of matching that with a good screen they used cheap screens with low resolution to save money. I get the best results while using the app directly as our phones are capable or replicating the 1080p clearly so it’s a world of a difference. Nothing is upgradable so if you’re relying on the handheld screen you can’t even see if your child is breathing in the video, on your phone yes. Pretty poor for $220 dollars. Also the motor on the camera is loud when cycling the camera. Very distinct motion noise

Q: How do you fix it when one of the screens is completely blacked out in split screen? It’s still connected to the internet. It’s almost in night mode but way too dark and you can’t see anything but can hear noise.

So buggy and doesn't last

We had this monitor system for about a year and the display monitor quit working and started endlessly cycling off and on. There is no way to replace or repair it and Vtech will not assist, so it's trash unfortunately despite the high price point. Even while it was properly functioning, the wifi and non-wifi connections were constantly failing, needing to be reconnected by resetting it on both the actual camera and monitor which doesn't work when your baby is sleeping near it. It also makes weird clicking noises and there's a red light that turns on, both of which my baby notices and it can wake her up at times. For the cost of this product I really expected better.

Failed After Less Than One Year

Great camera and audio quality but the monitor has died less that an year after purchasing so we can no longer turn it on. Leading up to the black screen this month, you would have to keep the monitor plugged on or it would die.

Pick a differnet monitor- this ine is trash

Constantly disconnects from wifi. Signal strength doesn’t work in my whole house even with wifi extenders and no other wifi issues in the house has been a constant problem. Video quality is horrible. It’s worse than a 90s home movie when it’s dark in the room. I’ve had it for 10 months and now today the monitor won’t even stay turned on.

Love the camera, dont love the weird stuff

Received as a gift, I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about the image quality but in my opinion it’s very clear compared to other monitors I’ve had. I’ve seen no one else mention this but for some reason if my monitor is off but I leave the camera on, the night light turns on by itself (I’ve never once even touched this function), and it makes weird clicking noises. I’ve never connected it to WiFi so im not worried about hackers but it does creep me out so it’s inconvenient to have to turn off both the monitor and camera each time.

Does it work? Yes. Is it easy to set up? Yes. Can you generally see what is going on? Yes. Is the picture clear? No. There is also a delay. There also is no light to indicate that the volume is muted, which other monitors have.

Will be replaced

The video quality of the monitor is absolutely terrible; it displays a very choppy/pixelated view. As our baby moves, the picture gets so blurred from the pixelation, we can't tell what exactly is going on with his movements. Due to this, we basically just use it for the sound and go physically check him when we hear him get fussy since the video is unreliable.

Clunky Setup, Short Lifespan

From the beginning, setting up this baby monitor felt clunky and unintuitive. Only one camera could connect directly to the device at a time, even though both feeds were visible on the monitor. We were able to make it work since we only used it during nap times, but the limitations were noticeable. After just 1.5 years, the monitor completely stopped functioning despite the device lights still turning on and shows it is charging indefinitely. Given the price point, this failure is very disappointing and frustrating.

Probably as good as the come

Decent monitor overall. Honestly, based on our experience, both personally and with friends and family, all modern video monitors have some disadvantages. They are all more fragile than you would think, not super intuitive, and bug out occasionally. We have two of these for over 20+ months and they still work well overall. One functions phenomenally across a large house. The other had the antenna breaks and loses connection for a minute or two once a night or so but always comes back. They sometimes lag when you try to move the camera around but having some patience never hurt. We would buy these again. They don't have some super bright light that keeps the kids up, their night vision is pretty good, it's not hard to set up at a new location. I'm sure there are a fair amount of lemons as with all modern manufacturing but just return if it's truly buggy and try again with a new unit off the factory line.

Frustrating!

When I first received the monitor it was perfect and extremely easy to set up and use. I also used the app on my phone all the time to see my baby. I really love the large screen and 2 monitors. Then around 10 months to a year the monitor kept telling me to do a software update and would beep all the time at me to do it. We finally did the update and then it would no longer connect to our wifi. I am livid!! I have tried everything that is recommended and have tried everything multiple times. The monitor will not connect at all! My wifi pw has been the same for 10 years, so I know it’s not my wifi that’s having issues. I emailed the company and they told me everything I already researched myself and then gave me 5% off a new one. This is a $200 monitor!! I would not recommend this baby monitor!

Night vision broke

Loved for awhile, but after 10 months of use the night vision on one of the cameras has gone out, but I bought just over a year ago so out of warranty.
