    2.5 stars. Infuriating cleaning + descaling cycle UI ruins an otherwise decent machine

    Generally a 4-star machine (mostly good, compact, albeit underpowered for finer grinds) with a 1-star cleaning and descaling UI. Three key improvements needed: 1) Separate cleaning and descaling lights and buttons. Why? Because it has overly fussy and confusing blinking patterns that you constantly have to look up to figure out what the thing wants. 2) Remove cleaning and descaling blocking behavior. If the machine decides it wants cleaning, you, a human, can not force it to skip it and just make a cup. Even if it's 5am and you're rushing out the door, nope... dumb robot won't let you simply grab one last pull until cleaning schedule is convenient for you. Infuriatingly poor product UX engineering. 3) More powerful pump for finer grinds. I'd say it fails on at least 1/3 of pre-ground espresso bags due to not being able to push water through a standard tamper pressure, which is too high a failure rate. If your favs happen to be coarser ground, cool. If not, this is not the machine for you.

    It’s a learning curve

    The machine does heat milk really fast and has a lot of power. It’s a learning curve that we haven’t mastered yet. We have it for traveling in our trailer. Our other breville at home is perfect and we love it. Needed something small to travel with us. So I ordered a burr grinder to see if we can get the same dose and flavor from it while away. We’ll get there. Have a grinder available. Measure the does out to keep from wet grinds.

    We live our original Breville Espresso Maker. Now that both of my daughters have moved out of live on their own. This was the house warming gift for them. They are in love with it. Much smaller but just as good as the original. We couldn’t be more pleased.

    Love our bambino

    We have had it about a month, we love the beverages. We do need to hold it down when we twist the ports filter like the other reviews said. It produces delicious lattes and we are so happy with our purchase.

    Makes great coffee and okay milk

    This took me a few days to decide not to return it. I'm glad that I took the time to figure out a few things. The auto milk works fine but I don't use it. The movement of the steam wand is limited to just straight up and right back down. I love the quick heat up and the consistency of the coffee. I wish it was heavier so it would stay in place when I insert the portafilter. It also needs a bigger Drip tray. I have to empty it every time I use it. The temp adjustment is great and the froth adjustment works well for milk. Footprint is small and accessories are abundant! I plan to use this machine for many years.

    good for beginners, very forgiving and works every time

    It's been really nice to have. I've been making cappuccinos every day before I go to class. It's really fast and I like that it froths and heats the milk automatically. Easy to set up as well. I had never had an espresso maker before so I was a bit hesitant but it has been super worth it.

    Small but Powerful

    Love this machine! It's the perfect size for my apartment and is easy to use for a beginner. Since it is small, it does rattle a bit but it's not a dealbreaker. All in all, great starter machine that makes good espresso!

    Target sold me a used espresso machine

    Target sold me a disgusting machine that was used and uncleaned. I opened the box and a coffee mess spills out all over my counter. The machine had dried spattered milk all over it. The instructions were covered in gross stuff. Why does target not check the box before putting it back on the shelf? For a $300 item?

    Great Machine

    My husband and I love the low profile and small it is to sit on our counter- it's space saving. It's pretty easy to use and a very smart machine- it has a tray overflow stop, will self clean the milk steam wand and is made out of great parts. The only thing, it is hard to get the portafilter into the machine- it's so new that you have to really put some power into it and I have to use my body weight to remove it. It is slowly losening up over time.

    Underwhelmed

    I bought the Bambino Plus two weeks ago and am disappointed. Especially since it’s my second Breville and I loved the first one I had (different model). The handle is annoyingly tight and moves the machine each time I place it in or remove it. It’s been tricky finding the right espresso pull setting and each shot comes out bitter, regardless the of the bean used. The water reservoir is curved so much it causes the machine to take up quite a lot of counter space. The wet tray under the handle is awkward to clean. I think I’ll return this one, which is a bummer.

    Good espresso at home, finally

    I've been very pleased with the Bambino. For a relatively affordable price, you get a machine that makes good quality espresso and I can steam milk for my wife's coffee in the morning. I do wish the espresso was a little hotter, but with a couple of water only run throughs to warm up the cup and portafilter it is better. Build quality is excellent. Easy learning curve. Happy with my purchase

    Decent but needs some upgrades

    Decent for the price. Makes good espresso if you have a good grinder. Feels very cheap, the aluminum/plastix portafilter and tamper are garbage. Highly recommended buying a nice bottomless portafilter and tamper.

    Excellent affordable option for home espresso

    As a former barista, I felt that I had to spend a fortune to get a good home espresso. After doing some research and seeing this unit go on sale, I pulled the trigger. This allowed me to spend more money on a nice single dose grinder, scale with time, and a few other accessories. Obviously good espresso take time and intention, but I was able to quickly dial in and have been producing great espresso based drinks for a few weeks now. The only feature on this machine I haven't tried is the auto milk steamer as I personally enjoy steaming milk manually. However I felt that the other upgrades to the bambino were worth it at the sale price.
