Q: Has anyone used this grinder past the manufacturer's 18 month warranty period?

submitted by Daya - 3 years ago
  • A: Yes- after 18 months the grinder broke. It has been cleaned and will not grind beans any longer

    submitted byMNJoel13 - 2 years ago
  • A: Yes, I've had it and use it a lot every day, past the 18 month mark and still works great. Have to clean it so it doesn't get clogged. Still works great,

submitted byLindaS - 1 year ago
  • A: Yes. Will require cleaning. The hopper rotates off. Good to brush clean and force air (blow vigorously) through the passages to remove fine particles which seem to clog the switch mechanism.

Q: Is it good for coarse cold brew grind?

submitted by Ariel - 5 years ago
  • A: All of the settings on this grinder make "Fine" grounds. The coarse setting makes medium find grounds. If you want coarse grinds -- look elsewhere. I am very disappointed in this machine.

submitted bymenton - 2 years ago
  • A: The grind is fairly inconsistent and you will get a lot of fines.

Q: Can you grind grains with this?

submitted by Ginger Bloom - 3 months ago
  • A: I've been using this grinder for several years to make small batches of oat and rice flours. It works great with oats. The rice needs to be run through the grinder twice and does not get super-fine.

Q: Does anyone know if this grinder grind coffee beans beyond the espresso size to the dust powder extra fine size needed to prepare like Turkish coffee or so?

    submitted byGinaB2323 - 7 years ago

Q: Can you grind spices in this?

submitted by JA - 8 years ago
  • A: Yes, I suppose you could. It would be a little over powered for just regular kitchen use and much more work to clean out between spices. I use a small inexpensive grinder for spices, they usually are around $10.

submitted byclf - 8 years ago
  • A: You could, but it wouldn't be easy to clean a specific spice out of it. I wouldn't use it for that purpose.

submitted byTCook - 8 years ago

Q: Just bought grinder. It grinds coffee really slow. Is this normal?

submitted by Sandcrab3 - 8 years ago
  • A: You don't really want a grinder that is too fast. It builds up heat due to the speed and that can effect your beans.

submitted byclf - 8 years ago
  • A: The setting in front is for the approximate number of cups of brewed coffee in ground coffee needed. The top setting is for how fine a grind you want. The finer the grind the slower it will grind because it brings the blades closer together. A more uniform grind speed can be achieved by keeping the bean hopper full so it always puts downward pressure on the beans to enter the grinding chamber. All that being said it should grind the beans at the same rate as any other comparable grinder. I've had mine for over a year and find it to be the best grinder for under $100. Hope that helps!

Q: I just bought this grinder. There is a mark on the dial that selects Fine/Medium/Course. Is it supposed to be screwed all the way in so mark is about 9 o'clock or is it supposed to face you.

  • A: True the white line is your guide to the type of grind you want. Align with the dots on your grinder. Good luck.

submitted byNailima - 8 years ago
  • A: The white line indicates the desired grind. it varies from fine to coarse. just twist to the the dotted marks depending on how you want it ground. most coffee makers you would use the medium setting and fine form more espresso applications.

    Not Great!

I had high hopes but was sorely disappointed. First, the coffee receptacle has a ton of static so when you try to empty it, it just flys everywhere. Everywhere except where you want it to go. So there’s a huge mess every time you open it. Second, the very second time I used the machine it wouldn’t feed the beans, so I shove it a little to see if it would bring them down and it wouldn’t, so I had to take the whole thing apart to clear it and clean it and then put it back together to get it to work. Needless to say, I boxed it back up and sent it back.
    A sad day

Thank you for sharing your feedback on the Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill—we’re sorry to hear it did not meet your expectations. Burr grinders can produce some noise during operation, but ensuring the unit is placed on a stable surface and not overfilled may help reduce vibration, and adjusting the grind setting while using dry, non-oily beans can help minimize excess fine particles. If you would like further assistance or support, please contact our Consumer Assistance Center at 1-800-726-0190 and reference ticket #8900646562. Cuisinart Supreme Grind lives up to its name

This coffee grinder works great! There is a lot of static, to be expected - I use a small blower to clean it up, no problem. It runs until the amount of grounds I select is completed, no holding down the power button. It is very attractive. So far my only complaint is that it is loud. However, it is not as loud as others I have used. Overall, I would definitely recommend and would 100% buy it again.

A great product from a great company

I have had several grinders over the years but when I bought my first Cuisinart burr grinder I was very pleased. After using it for several years, almost daily, it finally died. I immediately purchased another and I’m as satisfied as I was before.

So disappointing. Had to return it.

I was so excited to use this with my new espresso machine. This seemed like a reasonably priced great option. I got it home and set it to fine for espresso. Even after running the beans through 3 times the grounds were still very course and impossible to tamp down.

    Yeah, it's pretty...but it's messy!

I purchased the Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill for two reasons: 1) I liked the large hopper so I didn't have to pour/measure beans every day and, 2) It's aesthetically pleasing. I am a fan of the Cuisinart brand and have most kitchen items (including cookware) from the brand so this was a natural choice. Sadly, we have been largely disappointed with it. It is quite possibly the messiest grinder I have ever owned. When you pull the container with the grinds out to pour into the filter, the shape does not allow for clean pouring - the grounds go everywhere. Our other grinders have circular housings for the grinds and they pour neatly into the filter while the filter is in the coffee maker. With the Cuisinart, we now have to hold the filter over the sink and dump the grinds in to avoid getting them on the inside of the coffee maker and all over the counter. I gave it two stars for the hopper and appearance. I don't really recommend.

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback on the Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill—we’re glad to hear you value the hopper capacity and design, though we’re sorry to learn about your experience with grounds mess during transfer. To help minimize spillage, some users find it helpful to tap the grounds container gently before removal and pour slowly while holding it closer to the filter or over a sink, as burr grinders can retain fine grounds along the edges. If you’d like to discuss your experience further our Consumer Assistance Center is available at 1‑800‑726‑0190—please reference Ticket #8900644305. Disappointing, with no real fine grind ability

This Cuisinart grinder doesn’t grinds fine enough in the finest setting for pour-over coffee. Also, the rubber feet are flimsy and break off easily. Definitely a disappointment with no solution.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the Supreme Grind® Automatic Burr Mill—we’re sorry to hear it didn’t meet your expectations. Grind results can be influenced by bean type and freshness, and we recommend ensuring the selector is firmly set to the finest setting, grinding smaller batches, and cleaning the burrs regularly to support more consistent performance. Worthless for a french press

If you're buying this to grind coarse coffee for a french press, do not do it! It gives nothing but powdery mixture that is nothing but mud in a cup. You can try to strain it through a strainer and catch some of the ground beans that are bigger but you waste so much money and coffee. It's horrible. On the highest city, it does not grind coarse enough for a French press worthless. And sooo much static.
1 reply from Cuisinart team - 13 days ago
Thank you for sharing your experience with the Supreme Grind® Automatic Burr Mill—we’re sorry to hear it didn’t meet your expectations for French press brewing. For a coarser result, we recommend setting the grind to the maximum coarse setting, using smaller batch sizes, and gently tapping the grounds container before removing it to help reduce static; humidity levels and bean freshness can also affect grind consistency. Thank you for your feedback, as it helps us evaluate performance and make improvements to future models.

We’re sorry to hear about the mess you’re experiencing with the Supreme Grind® Automatic Burr Mill and appreciate you sharing this feedback. Thank you for sharing your feedback—we’re sorry to hear about your experience with the Cuisinart Automatic Burr Grinder and understand your disappointment given the limited use. Although this unit is outside the 3‑year warranty window, performance concerns can sometimes be related to settings, residue buildup, or alignment, and we’d still welcome the opportunity to review this with you. Louder than some small aircraft. Beans often hang up and won't go into burrs. Have to shake and slap the mill. I measure an amount and grind all of it. With erratic bean feed, the idea of setting the number of cups is absurd. Grounds hopper builds up static instantly.

This grinder works great. I drink caffè d'orzo, so I'm using this to grind roasted barley. Does a much better job than my spice grinder, and I love that it's automatic. It’s a little loud, but hey, it's pulverizing stuff, so it's supposed to be loud.
