Q: Has anyone used this grinder past the manufacturer's 18 month warranty period?

submitted by Daya - 3 years ago
  • A: Yes- after 18 months the grinder broke. It has been cleaned and will not grind beans any longer

    submitted byMNJoel13 - 2 years ago
  • A: Yes, I've had it and use it a lot every day, past the 18 month mark and still works great. Have to clean it so it doesn't get clogged. Still works great,

submitted byLindaS - 1 year ago
  • A: Yes. Will require cleaning. The hopper rotates off. Good to brush clean and force air (blow vigorously) through the passages to remove fine particles which seem to clog the switch mechanism.

  • A: with a voltage converter you could use it in Europe

submitted byAF - 2 years ago
  • A: It is 120v. There are voltage converters for appliances but I personally would buy the appliance in the country you're moving to.

Q: Is it good for coarse cold brew grind?

submitted by Ariel - 5 years ago
  • A: All of the settings on this grinder make "Fine" grounds. The coarse setting makes medium find grounds. If you want coarse grinds -- look elsewhere. I am very disappointed in this machine.

submitted bymenton - 2 years ago
  • A: The grind is fairly inconsistent and you will get a lot of fines.

submitted byThe Answer Man - 3 years ago

Q: Can you grind grains with this?

submitted by Ginger Bloom - 2 months ago
  • A: I've been using this grinder for several years to make small batches of oat and rice flours. It works great with oats. The rice needs to be run through the grinder twice and does not get super-fine.

submitted byJenRR - 13 days ago
  • A: Thanks for your question! This unit has only been tested grinding coffee beans. We do not suggest using it to grind anything else.

Q: Does anyone know if this grinder grind coffee beans beyond the espresso size to the dust powder extra fine size needed to prepare like Turkish coffee or so?

submitted by Ptl - 8 years ago
  • A: Yes, there is an extra fine setting for Turkish coffee.

submitted byRadiofan - 6 years ago
  • A: It does several different textures.

    submitted byGinaB2323 - 7 years ago

Q: Can you grind spices in this?

submitted by JA - 8 years ago
  • A: Yes, I suppose you could. It would be a little over powered for just regular kitchen use and much more work to clean out between spices. I use a small inexpensive grinder for spices, they usually are around $10.

submitted byclf - 8 years ago
  • A: You could, but it wouldn't be easy to clean a specific spice out of it. I wouldn't use it for that purpose.

submitted byTCook - 8 years ago

Q: Just bought grinder. It grinds coffee really slow. Is this normal?

submitted by Sandcrab3 - 8 years ago
  • A: You don't really want a grinder that is too fast. It builds up heat due to the speed and that can effect your beans.

submitted byclf - 8 years ago
  • A: The setting in front is for the approximate number of cups of brewed coffee in ground coffee needed. The top setting is for how fine a grind you want. The finer the grind the slower it will grind because it brings the blades closer together. A more uniform grind speed can be achieved by keeping the bean hopper full so it always puts downward pressure on the beans to enter the grinding chamber. All that being said it should grind the beans at the same rate as any other comparable grinder. I've had mine for over a year and find it to be the best grinder for under $100. Hope that helps!

    submitted byPhil C - 8 years ago

Q: I just bought this grinder. There is a mark on the dial that selects Fine/Medium/Course. Is it supposed to be screwed all the way in so mark is about 9 o'clock or is it supposed to face you.

submitted by Sandcrab3 - 8 years ago
  • A: True the white line is your guide to the type of grind you want. Align with the dots on your grinder. Good luck.

submitted byNailima - 8 years ago
  • A: The white line indicates the desired grind. it varies from fine to coarse. just twist to the the dotted marks depending on how you want it ground. most coffee makers you would use the medium setting and fine form more espresso applications.

    Good grinder!

This is a nice coffee grinder! The coarse grinder was what I was looking for because I bought a percolator and this pot requires a coarse grind. The first thing I noticed was that it was easy to use and practical. I didn’t think it was too loud but I wouldn’t use it when the baby is sleeping. The coffee beans were ground quickly and I think I have mastered the functionality by the third use. I also think the price is reasonable.

Not the grinder it used to be...

Not what I had hoped. We've been using a Cuisinart coffee grinder for nearly 20 years so when it died we wanted to replace it with the same unit. Unfortunately they aren't the same quality that they used to be. This is the 2nd one we've tried...No matter where you set the grind, beans do not fall into the grinder as you'd expect. It's a struggle to get ground coffee. Not what I signed up for. I'll be looking for another brand.

We’re sorry to hear the latest Supreme Grind® Burr Mill hasn’t matched the performance and reliability you experienced with your previous grinder, and we appreciate you taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback. If beans aren’t feeding into the burrs properly, tapping the hopper gently, ensuring the grind selector is fully engaged, and checking for any blockages in the chute can sometimes help improve consistency. Our Consumer Assistance Center is available at 1‑800‑726‑0190—please reference Ticket #8900573039 so we can walk through additional troubleshooting or explore support options. Your feedback is important and helps us enhance future product quality—thank you.

Grinds well- volume of beans is way off

We bought this to replace our last Cuisinart grinder (which we loved)- the Preset coffee amounts for grinding are WAY OFF!!! (50%+ too low). We have measured what comes out and it is much lower than it should be - ie 2 scant scoops for 4 servings, 3.5 scoops for 8 servings etc. It does not appear to be adjustable!
1 reply from Cuisinart team - 6 days ago
Thank you for sharing your feedback about the grind presets on your Supreme Grind® Automatic Burr Mill. Inconsistent preset amounts can sometimes occur if the burrs or grind chute have buildup, so performing a full burr cleaning and ensuring the hopper is seated correctly may help improve dose accuracy. Our Consumer Assistance Center can also guide you through manual grind‑time adjustments or additional troubleshooting at 1‑800‑726‑0190. Thank you for your feedback, as it helps with future products.

This is a very consistent grinder that works extremely well. My wife noticed the difference in our "fresh ground coffee' immediately. If I had one wish it would be a bigger hopper to hold more beans.

    Grinder

It made A high pitched very shrill whine noise and failed to grind the coffee beans
1 reply from Cuisinart team - 6 days ago
Thank you for sharing your feedback about your Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill. A high‑pitched whine with no grinding may indicate a jammed burr or beans stuck in the chute, and removing the hopper to clear the burrs and brushing out the chute often resolves this issue. Our Consumer Assistance Center can walk you through these steps or explore additional solutions at 1‑800‑726‑0190. Ticket #8900572313. Thank you for your feedback, as it helps with future products.

For the price and quality, it’s a safe choice

Last one ground appropriately for French press, cold brew, and drip set ups. It’s loud, but we grind in the afternoon for the next 3-4 days and warn the kids “loud noise”. You don’t have to hold it while it runs, so we leave it running in another room. It lasted ~6-7 years and it was the electronics, not the burr, that gave out first. As long as the price doesn’t creep up and the build stays the same, we’ll probably plan to pick one of these up every 8-10 years until we punch our card or I build one myself.

I love Cuisinart products and I would love to give this product a higher rating, however, we have experienced trouble with the grinder at all levels. It has become annoying to gave to dump the beans out to dislodge beans from become stuck. Don’t know if it’s a grinder defect. Love it when it works!!!
1 reply from Cuisinart team - 8 days ago
Thank you for sharing your experience with us—we’re sorry to hear the burr mill has been jamming and interrupting your grind, especially since you enjoy the product when it works properly. Beans can sometimes get stuck if the chamber or burrs have residual oils or fine grounds, and a thorough cleaning of the hopper, chute, and burrs often helps improve flow and reduce clogs. Our team would be happy to walk through additional troubleshooting, so please contact our Consumer Assistance Center at 1‑800‑726‑0190 and reference ticket number TICKET #8900569605. Great first burr grinder

Picked this up as my first burr grinder and have been happy with it. Easy to use, consistent grind quality, and the range of grind settings gives you good control depending on your brew method. One thing to be aware of: the grounds container gets a fair amount of static buildup, which causes the coffee to scatter and cling to the walls. Cuisinart does include a scoop with a brush on the other end specifically for this, which is a handy touch. Overall a solid grinder and easy to recommend.

    Too Noisy

Extremely noisy and messy. It takes over a minute to grind beans.
1 reply from Cuisinart team - 14 days ago
Thank you for sharing your feedback on the Cuisinart Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill (DBM-8P1)—we’re sorry to hear about your experience with noise, mess, and grind time. Burr grinders can produce more sound during operation, but excessive noise or slower performance may indicate the unit needs cleaning or that the burrs or hopper may be obstructed; we recommend checking for buildup and ensuring all parts are properly assembled. Static in the grounds container can also contribute to mess, and lightly tapping the container or using a small amount of moisture (like a drop of water on beans) may help reduce this.

    Coffee Grinder

The Cuisinart Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill worked well and easily as far as setting the coffee grind size and worked through a whole bag of beans. I think it must be designed for one or two coffee portions as the container that holds the grinds is small. Having used less expensive grinders, they seem to stop working after a few passes due to the small coffee partials. I was pleased with the performance verse price.

    Pour me another!!

This Cuisinart grinds your favorite beans to the ideal texture for your brewing method of choice and nothing beats the robust flavor that come from fresh ground beans. The only thing that would make this device better is if it had a stainless steel hopper or an ionizer to cut down on the static energy it generates.
