We have voluntarily decided to identify, reduce and eliminate to the extent possible materials of concern from our appliance products and parts, even when not required by regulation. GE Appliances complies with all applicable federal and state chemical content and labeling laws. One such law is California Proposition 65, enacted by California in 1986 (Prop 65). This state law requires companies to provide a warning for thousands of consumer products, foods, prescription drugs, alcoholic beverages, enclosed parking facilities, amusement parks, furniture, and other everyday items. For more than a decade, we have complied with the Prop 65 requirements by providing a warning in the owner's manual. The presence of a Proposition 65 warning does not necessarily mean the product is unsafe or poses a health risk. Over 800 chemicals are on this list, including wood dust, nickel (found in stainless steel), nicotine, and alcohol.
