Q: Glass filter that holds the charcoal filter it's not in box with coffee maker

submitted by Carlie - 1 year ago
  • A: Purchasing the $15 water filter kit will help minimize scale build-up, and prolong pump life. I have absolutely no idea why Keurig decided not to include these with the initial purchase.

submitted bySoutheast Kansas Dave - 1 year ago
  • A: Although Keurig no longer includes water filter kits with your initial purchase, using filtered water is important for reducing scale build-up, prolonging the machine's life, and improving flavor.

submitted bySoutheast Kansas Dave - 1 year ago
  • A: Keurig used to include in-reservoir filter kits, recommending that the charcoal filter be replaced every two months. Now you have to buy the filter kit separately, which retails for about $15.

submitted bySoutheast Kansas Dave - 1 year ago
  • A: The K-Duo coffee maker is compatible with the Keurig Short Handle Water Filter Starter Kit, however, it is sold separately. This is an optional accessory and not required in order to use the coffee maker. We hope this helps!

Q: Why didn’t this come with the charcoal filter attachment?

submitted by Paulb - 2 years ago
  • A: An excellent question. The $15 filter kit is required for using charcoal filters. Filtering water reduces the rate of scale build-up and helps to prevent premature pump failure.

submitted bySoutheast Kansas Dave - 1 year ago
  • A: According to the website, FoodDrinkTalk Pro, Keurig's decision to no longer include water filtering kits with new coffee makers is based on, "Design Simplicity", "Cost Savings". and "Convenience".

Q: Is a filter required?

submitted by Lynda - 2 years ago
  • A: Keurig did recommend changing the charcoal filter after two months or 40 gallons. They no longer include a filter holder with your initial purchase and no longer recommend filter change intervals.

submitted bySoutheast Kansas Dave - 1 year ago
  • A: Filtered water is important for reducing scale build-up, prolonging the life of the coffee maker, and improving flavor. Until recently, Keurig included filter kits with each coffee maker purchase.

Q: Is this the 2nd generation Keurig?

submitted by Nan - 2 years ago
  • A: The first generation K-Duo had a stainless steel thermal carafe that has been replaced with a 12-cup glass carafe. It also has a hotplate that automatically turns off after 2 hours.

  • A: Yes, this is the 2nd generation K-Duo coffee maker.

Q: Do I still need to buy coffee filters for pot side

submitted by E - 1 year ago
  • A: Yes. When brewing with the carafe, you will need to use a flat-bottom paper filter designed to fit 12-cup brewing baskets.

Q: Is there a power button on/off since I don’t want it to be on “keep warm” for two hours if all the coffee has been used from carafe? Do we always have to unplug if from the outlet to turn it off before 2 hours is up? Tnx

submitted by MelySA - 1 year ago
  • A: The hotplate can be toggled on or off by holding the carafe button in for 3-5 seconds. When manually turned on, the button will be lit red and the hotplate will remain on for 2 hours.

submitted bySoutheast Kansas Dave - 1 year ago

Q: What type of water filter, if there is one, is used for this coffee maker?

submitted by MelySA - 1 year ago
  • A: Keurig recommends using their Short Handle Water Filter Starter Kit, which costs about $14. I used the holder that was included with my previous Keurig and bought a couple of new charcoal filters.

Q: Can I remove a part where k-cups go into and buy Keurig reusable one where I can add my own type of coffee?

submitted by MelySA - 1 year ago
  • A: The K-Duo (Gen 2) has five water injection needles that pierce single-use pods. To prevent damage, only reusable pods that are specifically designed for this coffee maker should be used.

Great coffee maker- need all the extras if you have hard water

I love this coffee maker however beware if u have hard water you have to descale 2x a month, and I’m ordering a replacement because the buildup has made the heating element go out. - one thing I didn’t have until about a month ago was the extra filter… I highly recommend buying that right off the bat if you know you have hard water.

    Dont waste your money.

Smallest pot of coffee is 6 cups, 4 should be a choice and NOT hot! And single brew is warm not hot, xtra hot selection is worthless.

Lasted less than 6 months and its DEAD!

I bought this December 2025 and by June 2026 it’s completely dead! In the middle of a brew this morning and it completely shuts down, dead. $200 for a coffee pot that lasts less than 6 months?! My $80 Hamilton Beach lasted 5+ years. Not cool! Expected better quality from Keurig. Please make this right and send me a new one, return window has closed. Lame.

    K cups part broken

I bought this for my husband and we started using it around the end of February. It’s already broken! The k cup part will not brew more than a couple tablespoons at a time regardless of pressing 4 ounces or 12. I’ve wasted so many cups! I’d like to be able to return to Target but I’m outside the return window. A 200 dollar coffee maker should not have issues after 3 months.

    good combo brewer

This coffee machine is a great solution for someone like me who prefers to make a lot of coffee at once, but occasionally wants a quick cup, and also doesn't have the counter space for multiple machines. This coffee maker is very easy to use. The K-Cup side is straightforward and exactly what you expect -- drop in the K-Cup and push a button. The only added features for K-Cups is brew extra hot and brew over ice. The coffee pot side is also pretty straightforward. Add your coffee grounds, select the number of cups, and hit brew. The water tank serves both, and unlike many drip machines, it doesn't brew the amount of water in the tank but only the amount of water needed for the selected size. There's a few important things to note on the drip side. There's no audible signal when it's done, which is a puzzling oversight. However the hotplate light turns red when it's ready. Also, like every retail coffee maker, the cup size is completely arbitrary and 1 cup does not equal standard US measurements of 8 fl oz. The actual cup spec is not in the manual, so I had to measure: 1 brewed cup is 5 fl oz. Overall this is a great combination machine. It is not the only drip plus single-serve brewer, but it's no better or worse than the others.

    don't do it.

this lasted barely a year. not even sure what happened, it simply stopped working, as I went to make tea as usual and it wouldn't come on. I used it about 3-5x a week single side to make tea. and maybe 1x a month large amount side for coffee. sigh, I'll be looking for a different brand and not purchasing this again.

Coffee: It always tasted very watered down and was never hot. I used filtered water, kept it clean, used the filter for it. Quality: It broke within 5 months and it was a total nightmare trying to get the company to honor the warranty. After 6 weeks of battling, I just decided to go back to a standard coffeemaker from a different brand.

    Not worth it.

Had this Keurig for one year and one day. Started malfunctioning with errors codes and constant coffee grounds in the drink. Called Keurig today and I was informed the warranty expired. I've had other Keurigs before and this one had the worst lifespan so far.

Do not buy. Started getting error 1 a month after first use; figured out how to fix it. A week later, Keurig wouldn't turn on. It had a Tripped Thermal Switch. The only way to fix was to remove the entire back cover which of course is not easy and breaks the tabs that connect to the machine. Faulty Component: A broken thermal fuse or failed internal component might require a warranty claim or repair.

Better than I thought it would be

I love that it gives you options. It does spill when I use the k-pods some. Other than that ground coffee sometimes gets into the pot but that’s probably my choice in filters are poor. The brewing speed is amazing. The capacity is amazing. It’s super easy to use and I’m grateful to save money making the coffee at home versus spending money daily going to the drive thru!
